I grew up in Palm Harbor ,FL .Tarpon Springs. I graduated from Tarpon Highschool. Are you from Pinellas county or citrus county area? Tarpon springs Florida is one of the most expensive places to live due to its expensive mansions on the water and the Gulf of Mexico. The Big bend you are speaking of is called "The nature Coast" the Big bend does not start until you get up to cedar key. Here's a tip, maybe try finding an array of people that are different ages from the areas you visit... Citrus county where we live now is one of the most expensive counties when it comes to real estate. Yeah there may not be much to do here for young people but there are tons of places to go especially outdoors on the river.
Almost everyone I know around Tampa bay go up there regularly. Especially in the summer. We tube the rainbow river at least once every summer. We go scalloping offshore from Crystal River. If you’ve never had lunch at The Freezer you’re missing out.
I’ve been in Inverness for about 2 years now and I believe it has grown so incredibly much just in that small time. There are so many new chain restaurants on 44 now.

Those of us who live in the big bend area don't want tourists coming in and changing our way of life. There is more to life than crowded tourist filled streets and overpriced restaurants .
I'm on the east coast between St Augustine and Daytona and my town has been absolutely devastated since COVID. They are constantly clearing lots and building thousands of luxury homes that are selling for crazy money (my parents bought our house in 2008 for 85K now it's up above 300K) and we don't really have the jobs, my parents are retired and I do better than most working at a little sushi place in St Augustine. It's horrible bc big businesses are buying the houses to rent and that's why I'm still living at home bc fuck overpaying for rent. It's okay I just heard someone on the news complaining about they got flooded during the hurricane and she wanted to know who's fault it was bc someone needs to step up 😂. These newbies won't last in Florida for long
my husband retired after 26 yrs as a police officer and i'm retired with him😁 .. we moved to citrus county because it's a retirement area for the peace and quiet .. it's close enough of a drive to the water or anywhere in florida .. city life sucks (in my opinion ).. it's been a great almost 2 yrs now .. i haven't come across one nasty person or attitude .. yet .. lol (except for one guy from NY that was snippy with a girl at wawa over waiting too long for a sandwich (he was a 🍆)🙄 there are new businesses & restaurants being built which is creating employment opportunities for a lot of the non retired residents which is nice .. just hoping it doesn't get as congested here like the other parts of FL 🙏 btw.. hope you're feeling better with your back .. i'm now three months out of my surgery and on the mend .. and pain free .. praying for your speedy recovery .. 🙏

If someone is looking to relocate, I would do more research than watching a video. I have lived in Florida most of my life and every community has pros and cons. This video kind of hurts my heart. This man doesn’t know the families or circumstances in any of these communities personally I don’t believe, but comes across as very judgmental. Some of his facts could be true, I don’t know, but to me, this is an extremely negative video so no thumbs up in my case

On one hand in citrus county you're saying is the elderly capital then you say it's the overdose capital for young people which is not true. As far as citrus county being the cheapest to live if you consider 350k to half million dollar homes in sugar Mill woods and million dollar plus homes on the water then sure quite affordable.
We're actually so tired of snowbirds here. We don't need the influx if snowbirds it's a myth at this point we're so overcrowded and have enough tourists yet no reasonably safe affordable housing. I wish we could close Florida off in the winter to keep them out all together. After 5 decades I'm so done with areas and car crashes that have been wrecked by snowbirds. Tourism is one thing but the snowbirds need a new God's waiting room outside of the state of Florida. Tell them we're closed 🤣
They need to clean up this part of the state. When most of the population lives in poverty and no one wants to work, you have a problem. When the developers start pushing in and building better infrastructure/homes, you will see change. I still think they should preserve some of it, but most of it is an undesirable crap hole.

The fact is, meth is a huge problem in the Big Bend region, particularly in the lower part of it. Besides, you have so many beautiful springs/natural preserves in this part of the state.
