    Thank you! The ScreenPal extension is awesome for students with IEPs too.

    Great stuff! We also do student led conferences, but normally have to call/email or send a ranked preference letter to our parents. Would parents be able to access the scheduling or is it only available to students?

    Things I'd love to see in an update for teachers:
    1) A function to set when a comment is to be posted, as well as adjustable feedback
    As I teacher I'd love to return my feedback to a class simultaneously, not one by one (it can take hours to grade an assignment). This would also enable me to have my feedback posted during work hours, not over the weekend. I don't want the kids to see how late I'm up grading their assignments, and I also would like for them to be able to have spare time, ie. not being bombarded with my feedback when they need to recharge. Or if a comment with feedback could be written while inserting the grading, where it could be visible/easy accessed (now one has to go into the assignment and find the pupil one wants to write feedback to), and that comment would then be given to the kids alongside with me publishing their results - or saved for my eyes only (i.e. optional). In that way that comment too could become adjustable, unlike the comment you now post on the assignment as a whole.
    2). More assignment categories.
    Right now we only have assignments. Assignments can be bigger projects, homework, or used as a reminder for the kids to bring x-stuff to school on a specific day. I'd love to have a "Homework-", "Homework check-up-", "Lesson assignment-", and/or "Project/Essay-" classification. This way I could separate weekly homework, e.g. reading or vocabulary homework from their homework check-up, and separate things that we do during one lesson only, e.g. answering questions to a video they got to analyze in class, from bigger projects like essays that take multiple lessons to finish. Right now my grading tab is filled with assignments that have been used for homework reminders, homework check-ups, and for assignments to be finished during one lesson only as well as for bigger projects/essays
    3) A filtering function in the grading tab
    With more categories for the assignments, it would be nice to have a function to sort between what you can see in your grading tab. For example, if I want to have a quick overview of how one's student are doing on the vocabulary homework check-up, you can remove all the other assignments and only have the homework check-up listed.
    4) The ability to hide assignments for the kids
    Right now we can wait with publishing assignments, but once they are done they just lie in Classroom taking up space. The teachers, who post a lot of assignments in Classroom, truly have to keep it organized to make sure that it doesn't get confusing and cluttered for the students. With a function to hide things, e.g. if I could hide their old homework check-ups or assignments they've done during a lesson (that I'm not really grading, but still want to have an overview of that they participated and how they did). In addition, this would be a good thing to have as it is not uncommon that one accidentally posts an assignment too early, but once posted it cannot be undone! The only way to hide an assignment is by deleting it, and then you have to remake it again. By just having a little "hide/show" button this would be so easy to fix.

      Thanks for sharing this Jessika! We just put out a video about a free app called Schoolytics that links with your Google Classroom and you can actually do a lot of the stuff you mentioned with it.

    When you give a an assignment start and due date. Will the assignment lock or will they still be able to do the assignment

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  2 года назад

      Hey LeShell. Do you mean will they be able to do the assignment before the publish date or after the due date? They can't see it before the publish date so can't turn anything in until it's at least been published. They can turn things in after the due date, Google Classroom will just notate it as a late.

    We don't use Google Classroom anymore but we do use a TON of Google products. Thanks so much for the update. I'm sharing your video with my colleagues!

    Hi,
    Thanks a lot for sharing this video! I have a friend who is a teacher, and she uses Google classroom to teach and schedule all her classes. I think she will find these features very helpful. She stays very busy, and I don’t think she has the time to learn about new features. I'm sure this video will help her a lot and will ease her teaching process considerably. Thanks a lot for sharing this video, it was a great watch.

    Regarding the scheduling function, I have a question. After a student/parent signs up for an appointment, will other students see that time as unavailable? Thanks as always for a great and useful video.

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  2 года назад

      Hey Jack, sorry for the late reply. Yes, if a student signs up for 2pm on Monday, everyone else will see that time as unavailable so you won't get double booked.

    Hi thank you for your video as always. Do you guys have a video on where student portfolios are housed or what tools are used to create the portfolio. I am not a google classroom teacher. my district uses Microsoft and canvas as an lms ( I think it’s ridiculous cause we can use MS teams). Anyways sorry if you already have a video on this and I haven’t seen it

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  2 года назад

      Hey Sabrina. We have some videos on how to do portfolios with Google Sites and Seesaw. Since you aren't a Google school, check out the Seesaw one - ruclips.net/video/O81_3WzxQbE/видео.html
      Even though they market themselves as an app for elementary school, it's really a powerful tool for any grade level.

    When using the scheduling in Google Calendar, if someone signs up, does it block out so no one else can use that time?
    Thank you for bringing all the updates to me so I don’t have to go looking!

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  2 года назад +2

      Yes, Google will keep you from getting double booked; once someone signs up for a time, no one else can sign up for that time.

    Is there a time limit on the video recordings?

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  2 года назад

      I think since it's linked to your Screencast-o-matic account, it'll be a 15 min limit if you have a free account, or no limit if you have a paid account.
