Fantastic Doddy! nice to subscribe here when there were only 400 people... wait till the masses find out! you've inspired me to get my Zaskar back out and get it rideable again. Love a good retro build.
Ace. Best knowledge in the business
Heck yeah bud!
Nice one Doddy. Good to see you back on YT
The purple and led green Yetis are insane. I can't believe I had never heard of Brave Cycles. I grew up in Arcadia, right next to Monrovia, and for a while, I used to live a couple blocks from the Brave Cycles address. Thank you for the video. Time to do a deep dive into Brave.
This is fantastic ❤
Doddy you just amaze me with your knowledge of old bike stuff. Remembering all those bike part numbers including tyres - OMG.
No limits, your own channel. I have a feeling this is going to be big for you.
I love watching you go on about retro MTB’s….history, riders, engineering, parts….you’re a wealth of knowledge. The tribute bikes are a fantastic nod to the history of the sport. Thanks, Doddy, please keep ‘em coming!
Hi Doddy, Just discovered you're back, absolutely great to know.
I see Jamie Lynn's Kestrel on a regular basis, along with the Intense M1, amazing bikes!
Great edit Doddy!
Hell yeah! Churn them out, we'll lap them up.
Good to find you on here.
Great stuff took me right back to when I first started mtb👌
That's awesome, happy to hear that!
Brilliant Video Doddy Love the Retro content ,had the pleasure of meeting you at the Martyn Ashton Talk at Redgrave in Bristol Gr8 show apart from the random fire alarm 😅 ...I would love to see a build or any content of prestige examples of the GT LTS my 1st full sus in 2000 polished alloy loved that rig .Good luck on your new venture...
Glad to see the god mountain bikes back
That BMW bit is so funny 🤣🤣
Great stuff:D
Awesome stuff. 1995 to 2000 were the glory days of mtb!!!
Hope the new chapter is going well! Buzzing to see you still keeping this going! Thats why i tuned into gmnn and after following your work since MBUK year 2000 ish... it would be weird not to hear your words of tech advice and bike knowledge!
Thank you for featuring my Marin Palisades 👍 I absolutely love that bike
Congrats on the new job! 👍🏽I was left wondering...
My last N+1 is a '22 Foxy R with Ohlins suspension bits that became a dream build so I'm even more pleased with my purchase now that I know where you landed. Rock on and enjoy.
I have a Mr. T... 😊
Wahoo!! Nice one!! Glad to see you man!!
The Kona was a1988 white cindercone with blue and red paint splashes.
Nice to see you back with your own channel you’ve been sorely mist. But I do hope they become more regular as this last one was two months ago…
Great video. man those old GT makes me miss my older bikes - I owned several Zaskar's and now regret selling them, especially my ano blue one. I sill have my old ZRX that I bought new in 97/98 but my front fork is bend - hope to one day find replacements.
Been a long time dude! Hows life? Thanks for watching! Zaskar's are all time eh. If you need to hunt down spares fot GT's, check out @gt_retro_tech_shop and @gt_retro_tom on instagram. Those guys know EVERYTHING and seem to buy it all up!
@@DoddyMTBtech Hey Doody - I'm good. Still riding (and crashing - ha ha). Can't complain.
Thanks for the leads, I already follow them on IG already. Might have to reach out to them but I think they mostly buy and don't really sell rare GT parts.
My boss still has his tushingham b52 frameset, bought another one a while bike to nick the groupset off it!
What really impressed me the most os that you have stayed true to your love of mountain biking and boy does it show well done 👍
Arthur
Good to have you back Doody, like an old pair of slippers! So, The story I knew was that Mike Synyard bought a Ritchey p-23 and had that copied?
Great to see your face again. When will we see the Amp?
I saved a Tomac Giant bike from a scrap metal bin a few years ago...it has the Nora world cup winner decals on the downtube...just like the one you showed...
Love it mate
Congratulations Doddy, and thanks for sharing your favourites from the Malverns Classic. Any chance you could share a link for the podcast with Jamie Lynn and friends interviewing Jeff Steber? Cheers!
sorry - I have now. Need to get in gear with this stuff lol!
Nice one 👌
I think the Intense had Sun double wide rims. The Intense tires were no joke, mounted a set on someone else's bike and told them it was a permanent installation.
I had Arrow racing dhx rims that were made to be slightly under sized so you could actually mount those old DH tires, possibly the heaviest rims ever.
Out of all the gmbn members Doddy is my main favorite, second to Anna, and starting a new chapter outside of Gmbn is exciting.
I have a stunning polished Mountain Cycle San Andreas that I did a restomod on. I’d love for you to do a small feature on.
Btw IRC tires are still in business, they still make the geoclaw, I have a set of 1.9" 29s that I kept for a fully rigid 29er project, it's now got a Sid up front since I already changed my mind after one ride, practicality overtook nostalgia. Not sure about the 1.9" yet 😂
Nooo! I did not know that! Thanks for the information!
Nice little vid mate 😎
Not gunna lie, good to see 2 of mine make an appearance 🙈
Hi Doddy I love the new videos 👍👍👍 I have a 1999 Trek YSL 200 with XTR crank, original Rolf wheels and Mavic too. I rarely ride it these days and it’s still in good condition. What would be the best way to sell to someone who would look after it and enjoy it please? Thanks 😊
So happy for you mate! Mondraker is the bike brand I want the most. I know how much you’ve appreciated Mondraker over the years so it must be like a dream job for you.
Also ‘five pound notes’ is that what the kids are calling it these days?😉
I genuinely love the brand. It's the easiest choice I've ever had, with no disrespect to anyone I used to work with. The GMBN era was brilliant, and full or great people. But I'm really happy to move on. You'll see a fair bit of me on the Mondraker youtube channel next year, as well as my own channel.
@@DoddyMTBtech Looking forward to it!
Watched you on GMBN for years and honestly I think you had given everything you could there. Your tech videos are a treasure trove for aspiring mechanics.
Nothing like a fresh start, Good luck with the future !
Hi Doddy,
Standardized copied a Ritchey frame, not a Fisher, as far as I know!
The Ritchey Softail rode beautifully, and a bike I really wish I'd never let go.
They used the licensed Moots shock, and as it only had an inch-ish of travel, I would think failures weren't an issue...
Or were they?
Good luck with your new ventures.
Cheers
Al.
Ah, well I'll check all notes I have. Tom Ritchey made the 'Mountain Bikes' for Gary and Charlie, so it could be one of those perhaps. Thanks for commenting by the way!
I have migrated to here
what do you think about the retro-new (called also restomods) bikes? you should make a video about them!
I love them. Have made a couple, so really appreciate that avenue. Mondraker have a custom paint facility, and some very cool things in the pipeline. So I'll definitely be making something special at some point!
@@DoddyMTBtech i have a 1990 rockhopper, custumized with roto bashguard and an huge bullmoose handlebar. Aside i have an entire 2x10 groupset but even if the bashguard and the bullmoose are matching the year of the bike (nearly) sometimes i think they are just overkilling it.
loving the retro bike porn featured in this vid, especially the Manitou and GT ti HT's
How Jamie's GT didn't win the show and shine is beyond me. Absolutely stunning.
Please make sure you pop over to the Kona stand in 2024 and check out my retro-fleet including an ex-team Explosif and Misser Replica 👍
Meant to post the link to the Podcast with Jamie Lynn; Jeff Steber and co. Sorry!
It’s here, and I’ll add to the links when home

Link to podcast mentioned at 6:30?
apologies! It's in the description now. They have also just interviewed Gary Fisher too!
@@DoddyMTBtech cheers 🍻
Get Omar on here please…………… iykyk ❤
if he'll appear, he's MORE than welcome. He's such a kind human with an incredible knowledge!
Great to see you back but Gmbn tech isn’t the same with out you
GMBN is not the same without you! Have you seen that wig that replaced you!?! It's ridiculous!
Brilliant stuff :)
