I have learned so much from this man i just appreciate it so much i wouldn't have ever considered taking my bike completely apart till i stumbled upon Doddy so thanks bro
Thanks for such a cool knowledge drop, Doddy! Life Cycles is so absolutely incredible I own a physical copy of it. Can't wait to watch Tread and get inspired to go shred on my Proflex.
Watching Tread in early 94’ gave me massive goosebumps. The first time I saw my sport filmed so brilliantly, it was epic. Great video Doddy. Pop over one day and come see my collection
Where did you go doddy ... I missed you ... Your so much better on your own channel . That high pitched voice that replaced you at your old job I'd not the best at the job 😢 Legendary effort on your new channel . I've subscribed and dump the gmbc net work Thumbs up mate
Was able to see some of those videos as a youngster. And is why I still have a softspot for GT. I still have my old avalanche, this makes me want to build it up again😊
Back in the day when the North Shore freeriding scene was taking off Canondale tried to license the term Freeriding. Rocky Mountain bike just called their group the Fro Riders and Bret T / Ritchey S and Wayde Simmons made it go to a whole new level.
Doddy!!!!!! Im so so glad ur back doing tech ! I hope to see it more! GMBN Tech sadly went down the drain after you left :( I hope to see the same supremly superb quality of information as before! Ive missed your MTB wisdom
I have always used dhf/dhr2 on my bikes. They're limits are beyond my abilities which is a good match for me. As ever Doddy, brilliant content. Glad to have you back. Ps I ride a 2018 GT ALLOY SENSOR COMP F/S 29er. Much upgraded - the best trail bike ever!
Great to see you back in videos. The way you communicate with the viewer is fantastic. I have an idea for a video also. British bike brands that people may not have heard of, like Whyte, Vitus, Bird. Even Saracen which are well known but many don't know, is made in the UK. Keep up the good work!
I moved from bmx to mtb in 84, some of this stuff I've never even seen before. The rest is amazing to be reminded of and hear the back stories. No idea what dead end of my brain stores these magazine features for instant recall once I see them. Love it!
This video brings up so many memories for me. I started getting into mountain biking in the late 90s as a (broke) preteen. My friend had a copy of Tread of VHS and that is what really got me I to mountain biking. To this day almost 25 years later I’m still a Han Rey fan and dream of taking a road trip like they did with my son when he’s a bit older. The US magazine Mountain Bike Action did a great article on Hans a few months ago that’s worth the read. I still quote the “fast… it’s corporate policy” line all the time (especially after I became a paramedic). Right up until about 5 years ago I still had the GT pint class with slogan on it. The late 90s/early 2000s was such a great time to be in the sport. The Volvo/Cannondale team was my “home” team since I live 3hrs from the factory (even got to visit when I was around 14yrs old). Missy, Ann Caroline, Cadel, Tinker, Brian - the team was stacked! Thanks for such a great vid! Please make this a whole series!
DODDIIIIIIIIIE my man 😀🙌🏾. Never would i've thought I would see this great guy again. Finaly having your own youtube show 👍🏾. If some one knows a thing or two about mountainbikes, Doddy is that Man. Great to see you back.
Great video, he’ll of a history lesson and invoking of memories. I had an RTS when it first came out. Brochure had Juliana Furtado when she won the DH world championships title out of nowhere. The bike actually worked when many other designs were just complete crap
Yes! Love everything about your channel! Really brings back all these memories from my teenage years. I still have my milk levers. Amazing levers still.
Congrats Doddy on your chanel you got a faithful folower love the video cheers from the edge of the 1st World and the 3rd worl, Tijuana, Baja California México!
As many are saying. I was heart broken when you stopped coming in on that other channel. This made my morning, as a now older guy I wasn’t there in the ultra early days. But about 2000 I came in and well that was a quarter century ago now. And it’s fun to get a far more in depth view on stuff that was just out of this world in the shop back then, and now where near the coverage media wise that the stuff available now gets. Keep the content coming!
Sooooo good to se you on your channel. You are the ONLY really reliable source to MTB technology and history. Deeply appreciated 🤗🤗🤗 Greetings from an old school XC rider (still on Bontrager OR bike with XT 737 stuff and Marzocchi z1 with 1” steerer😂
The ad990 and a-head changed bmx. Still call brake bosses AD lugs!! As for diskdrives, we used them in polo....made out of estate agents signs!! Must admit, i made one for my kona!
yeah, there was a scene later in the film that had 3x Mongoose riders (Travis Chippers; Fuzzy Hall and Brian Schmidt) shredding in San Francisco. I think the rider I mentioned could be Travis or Brian, but not Lopes. I think the rider in Tread looks a little taller. (Sorry Brian!)
@DoddyMTBtech Tim was such a fun guy to be around. He "raced" BMX for Mongoose when I was still trying to compete, but he was really there for the show to do demos. Brian switching to Mtb was a heartbreaker because he was my favorite rider in that era when Gary Ellis just won everything and GT was the enemy😂
Great vid. Really happy to see your encyclopediac knowledge back on the Tube. The old channel ain’t what it was 😅. Looking forward to the next installment
I remember clearly, being at a DH race in Puddletown forest in the UK when I was a kid and seeing a Disk Drive in action the first time. It was Dave Hemming on a Kona Hei Hei, and you could hear the rumble coming before he came in to sight, flat out. Was a mixture of kicking a dustbin down the road and something that was unnecessarily loud and cool. I wanted one that second, but could never afford it!
@@DoddyMTBtech yes!!! An older friend of mine as a kid rode a GT RTS with 1 fitted, even on tarmac you could hear that thing rolling, everything seemed to echo through those carbon discs at full volume!!
Wow, I just love this type of stories. It‘s like reading an extensive editorial in a good old bike magazine. A few days ago, I had a conversation with a colleague about some old Kleins and he was impressed with my „encyclopaedic“ knowledge but compared to you, I know nothing. I suggest „who really mad it“ as a topic. Things like who really made this tires are fascinating.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Not really sure how my brain works, but I definitely have a strange memory for bike stuff. When I used to work in bike shops, I could used to remember Shimano things - for example - by part numbers and EPOS codes. I'm not wired normally, for sure! I like the idea of who made it, as there are loads of crossovers between brands, designers and manufacturers...
Doddy for the win 🥇 , it’s so good to see and hear the stories from back in the day, been Riding Atb and Mtb’s for 33 years and counting 😊 bikes = life . Great job , should do some longer videos dig deeper into this thing we love ❤️
Good to see ya back talking bikes on RUclips Doddy! Honestly, GMBN is feeling just like a content mill now, with so many repeat themes over and over again that I’m looking for other options for bike channels/vids. Always enjoyed when you’d be on that channel.
I so remember that "Fast is corporate policy" campaign...I used to race Zaskar's back then and shortly after jumped on the i-Drive bandwagon. Even the i-Drive campaigns were great! Andrew is a gem...love that human!
I love the story-telling about the origins of MTBing. I got my first Cannondale in 1993, switched to GT in 96 for a few bikes,,,thanks Allspeed!. Still have an Intense Uzzi SL from 96. YaY! Doddy's back!!!!
Doddy doing a dirt shed tech style video is perfect get to know his really thoughts on brands, interesting to see his workshop now when all the brand sponsor stuff is gone and it’s him using what he actually loves. Of course he will have mondraker bikes but in terms on tyres suspension cleaning products and tools
awesome stuff doddy, good to see you chatting about MTBs from the workshop again, great storytelling, Hans no way Ray! what a dude! those moab sections on a clunker must have been mad :)
Doddy! Yes! The Legend has returned.
Yay, Doddy is back talking MTB tech. Praise the MTB gods 🤟
Doddy is back! Hell yea!
I’m stoked to get to watch and learn from Doddy again!!!
This is what I miss!!!! Doddy nerding out on retro MTB tech and companies 🙏🏻😎

We're all waiting for Blake now

What a trip down memory lane!
Cheers Doddy!
The 80's & 90's was such a pioneering era for mtbing, so many weird and wonderful parts and designs. It sure was great to be a part of.
Doddy, mate- you are an MTB encyclopedia. Loving the new channel. Best of luck at Mondraker, too.
I have learned so much from this man i just appreciate it so much i wouldn't have ever considered taking my bike completely apart till i stumbled upon Doddy so thanks bro
Doddy always needed his own channel❤
Great video, still riding my GT Zaskar, I've still got my milk leavers, 🤘
Great video Doddy. Awesome.
I laughed when you said how terrible farmer John's tyres were, yet I can remember just how bad I wanted them as a 14 year old! 😂
Awesome details. Thx

Looking at those classic mtbs got me thinking of rebuilding my old very old araya mtb...
Awesome, great video......more please!

Farmer John's tyres. Blimey, I'd forgotten all about those (luckily 😂).
Mooore, we need more of this, Doddy!!!!
Great work,
Love the channel! Looking forward to future content.
I've always enjoy your vibes doddy and how you get down to the nitty gritty when you're dabbling on specific topics. Glad I found you.

Doddy. Just found your videos and subscribed. Am now one happy camper again!
Paul Brodie has a great youtube channel - I believe he is currently building a "giraffe" bike :)
First real mtb was a 1992 Kona Cinder Kone, I was 14 and it was amazing, project forks.. xlite bar ends, wished I’d kept it . Good old days.
These stories and information are awesome! 😎👍💯
thanks for watching!

Welcome back Doddy!
Love this. So hard to find history on mtb. Cool video
