@@daneenmurf1043 speaking for the Bharatnatyam style it's definitely not just arms, lots of leg action as well! A bit similar to ballet, I find it.
Parents are either hypercritical of what you've done as "not good enough" or they think something employers won't care about is impressive, because you're their precious darling, to employers you're just another applicant.
You forgot the part where Anne actually GOES TO THE INTERVIEW with him or even by herself. I have heard that actually happens at times.

You forgot the part where parents recommend you do certain things only so you can name them there at some point.
"Become a student representative, go to the debating club, become the best in your class, learn an instrument..."
And not forgetting the most important thing from my parents' point of view: "Get involved as a volunteer, in church, in a sports club, animal shelter, old people's home, it doesn't matter where or what, the main thing is that you appear socially committed." 😂

I don't think we do all those things in Europe. In the Netherlands, most kids are extremely good at calculating - what the lowest possible grade is to get them through.
I like that the goal is to "appear" socially committed.

I really feel for Oisin here. When my mum helped me to write my first resume, she insisted on putting down the weekly awards I got at high school assemblies (as well as my achievement in a writing competition in primary school)
I am a mom. I have teenage boys. With every new video, I realise I am exactly like Anne.
I am proud of us (me and Anne and all other moms).
I like how Anne always appears as naive and unworldly, and Oisin as, yes, a brat, but at least living in the here and now, and then, in the very end with her "Oh, now he get's it" the roles suddenly reverse. (What's more, without the characters changing at all.)
I think that's one of the reasons I love Anne: I always get the sense that her optimism and determination to be a positive influence on Oisin might seem like naivety but is in fact a very deliberate choice.

Oisín may not have thought of that one when he said he could walk and talk and... etc. - but in the film 'Pappa ante portas' the main character is asked about his "small child", like, can it already sit and talk? As someone who is trying to get a job I'm certified to do, I can relate. The "you won't get the job part" is definitely my mum 😂She would always tell me if you dressed sloppy or were late you wouldn't get the job (I agree with Anne on this). Though I feel a more accurate statement nowadays would be "if you don't know somebody in upper management, you won't get the job."
And here I am currently looking for a new job 😂

She burst out laughing and told me to get out 🤣

I had an exam today and the invigilator who took me to the room to get my work printed reminded me of Ann Flannigan. She spoke with a similar accent, she wore her glasses in a similar way, her mannerisms were super similar to Ann's, the way she moved was similar too. It was as if Ann herself was invigilating my exam.
At least Oisin will have no issues with dress codes, lad wears a tie around the gaff!
