I get told all the time what people want me to do and today I am going to tell you what I need to get from you so I can help you get what you want. Here we go!
Can't beat the power of synergy. I would much rather surround myself with folks that think somewhat differently than with people that think just like me. I have learned so much from watching you and others that I am now looking for ways to pay it forward.
Chris, I make firewood down here in New Zealand thousands of miles from you guys in the U.S where you have different varieties of wood and different heating requirements but I still learn so much from your channel and watch your vids daily. Thanks for all that you share - super professional and interesting channel. George.
Chris, I have learned a ton from the comments, your videos, Bert, Adam, Gavin, Tony, Kenny, and you. From ways of doing things, asking questions in the comments, it all adds to my knowledge as well as being able to help others. Keep up the great work. I have watched every video you have made and enjoyed the journey with you and all the subscribers. A gem on RUclips of honesty, help, and inspiration to go out and get a job done. GNI
Excellent as usual ( Wood MBA ). Most of your customers do not heat with firewood--fireplace, weekend, entertainment fires, etc.. as you say. Many of us do use firewood for heating with woodstoves, OWB, pellets, wood furnaces. I harvest our heat from our Back 40 for the 2 EPA Jotul stoves. When I retired, I HAD to learn ( CPL and GOL programs here in Maine ) to safely fell and process after the normal male ( she said ) macho slice and ER visit. I harvest with a stable of 3 saws, ATV, trailer, tools, weak back. You and Ken and Tony give the expert point of experience for many. Perhaps some more for the few of us who do use firewood for primary heating without central furnace or mini splits, and with "appropriate tech'. This was an unusual year without snowpack to help insulate the place[ ;close to 8 full cords used. Stihl liking it. JMNSHO
Hi Chris , I haven’t commented for ages, so here is my two cents…. You have an entertaining style of presenting and I have learned a lot, my biggest AHA moment was a few years ago on measuring firewood- so simple yet effective! I like how you have taken the time to sort your videos into categories which makes them easy to refer to. I mostly cut up trees that have fallen over in the wind, I rarely cut trees down. Maybe when you and Ken are next at your dad’s property- or anywhere that needs some trees removed you could show different approaches to felling the trees, for direction, safety etc and why you make some of the cuts - also do you deal with hangers often?
Well said my friend. That is why I absolutely love RUclips because everyone can learn about so many different topics. So much information out there and knowledge is key!
Man I been watching ever since you started, I try not to ask to much but I have made comments on some things, or I just watch and not say anything but give a thumbs up on it.
Thank you for sharing all you do with your viewers! You are 100% correct! The most selfless and important thing all of us can do is help each other. Your example of Michael Jordan hits home with me. He played for the University of North Carolina and most would agree their best player ever. Go Tarheels! That is historical reference to the abundant naval stores produced by the state tree, Longleaf Pine!
Chris, Saw you at the Hoosier firewood, I watch you every day. You do not have to answer mine everyday unless it is a direct question. I will make a comment, because I know it helps you. It was nice seeing you and tony again and especially enjoyed meeting Ken. An expert is a guy with a briefcase more than 50 miles from home.
I love your attitude. Everybody has something to give. That's why I watch. If I see something, I'll ask about it. Cause I'm watching while you're doing. My hope is to help one person. Have a blessed Day.
I would love to see more videos of other wood operations.....The last one with the electric set up with the kiln was amazing....I had no clue that even existed.....can you see if there are even bigger operations out there.....also, I think you should get a kiln.....the right way!!!!!!!
Good morning Chris, I was taught as a kid to listen to other people, especially the older ones as they have a wealth of knowledge gained from life and it's stood me in good stead all my life. My grandfather always said there is no such thing as an expert because no one person can know all there is to know about any given subject. I've been doing my job now for nearly 40 years and I'm still learning and I still learn from others all the time. Helping others makes the world go round and is the best way to live your life.!😊
used to be a poster in a restaurant near me - just as I thought I knew all the answers someone came by and changed all the questions How true, life is always changing
Great way to ask for help. A lot of us in the firewood business know what is going on so it only makes sense. Excellent idea. I think I will do this with my channel as well.
Chris, a great video & excellent food for thought. Your videos are very informational & I think people will gain a lot of knowledge watching them. Dave D. from Southern Maine.👍
Keep doing what you’re doing Chris, the mix of content makes it work. I’m particularly fascinated by your business perspective on things, sound & sensible. It’s interesting to see the different weather issues that you’ve got to contend with in Wisconsin compared to here in Wales; more extreme but possibly more predictable? I run a 562xp, so it was good to see you & Ken trial & use one. Looking forward to some fishing posts on the other channel. Keep up the sterling work!
Just so you know Chris, it's because you've replyed even if it is just one 'yup' to almost every comment I've made is why I watch almost every video you make, and even the few that don't interest me for whatever reason I leave run in the background to help with the algorithm.
Watching a 45 minute video with that splitter running in the backround, does get kinda old. I've been with you for a while. Having your brother in the vids are always good. Going in the woods and cutting and getting the logs out is cool too! The content is pretty good for the most part.
Hi, Chris, I have been watching you for a few years now and I can count one one hand the number of videos I didn’t care for or didn’t find interesting. Even though some are repetitive your personality and humor makes up for that. I !for one enjoy your stuff and hope you keep it coming. Thanks
I’ve learned a ton watching your channel and I enjoy it every day. You and the community are always positive. I think it’s great that you “flush the turds”. I’d love to see your wood yard someday and hope you keep going!
I like watching the videos for when you’re able to help tell some techniques and tricks to help others cutting wood. Those are the best to me. The cutting and splitting is ok, but like the tips and trips for sure most! Good videos!
Same here. After a while the cutting and splitting gets old. I listen to Chris's videos as background noise more often than not. Have followed him from video 30-ish.
My dad was the plant manager for an automotive battery manufacturer and he told me he would walk through the plant every morning and at the least tell them good morning to each of his employees. Well when he announced his retirement the company brought in his replacement to shadow dad for a few weeks before dad left. About 3 months went by and the VP of the company called my dad to see if he would come back for a while to straighten up what his replacement screwed up. They were losing customers and customer service was in the tank. Dad went back and all of the employees came in one by one to thank him and to tell their stories of how the previous guy treated them. The previous manager would get everybody together and belittle them and call them stupid and tell them his 8year old son could do a better job.Needless to say moral went down as well as any semblance of respect for each other and the job and company as a whole. Took dad a couple months to get things back working smoothly (many hours of traveling and smoking the customer as well as the employees) and to gain the support of his team as a whole. Chris I'll help where and when I can. I don't comment much but will try to read comments and help out when I can. Keep up the great work even though you said a while back you were going to cut back some.
Great approach! I’m new to your channel…just got into working chainsaws and firewood so I’ve got tons to learn. I’m learning most of it from my comment section. 👊
I found it to be a great burden knowing everything. I got so many questions that I had no time for anything else, so now I pretend to be ignorant, and I am damn good at it!!!
My favorite videos are the ones with Kenny and Bert and Adam and others in them. Also, I really like the dropping tree videos. The videos of you splitting by yourself are getting a little old. I like it when you do voiceovers and talk about stuff when you do have the long spitting videos. Just my $ 0.02 great videos keep up the great work.
Well Chris, because i like and respect you. I chose to not respond much in the comment section. Lol, i go out of my way to avoid reading comments so that im not tempted to make comments. I think its better for your channel that i just keep quiet. Love your videos.
Hey man enjoy your content! I started a firewood business to go along with my lawn care business back in November! I’ve learned a lot watching your channel.. just subscribed btw
I can see the challenge with having a you tube channel is content. Keeping things simple and interesting you do a great job of it Chris . Keep them coming
Glad to see you opening up to other ways. But you're still not paying for them! Of the many thousands of suggestions I gave you, very humbly and courteously, the only one you used was piling instead of stacking. I did that to help people (you), but my grand ideas never make me much money! Don't feel bad though, I've given more thousands of ideas to other people, people here people there, guys building houses, guys working on highways, woodsmen and arborists, Doctors and bankers! It's like I was born to supervise! A national treasure! But don't worry about me. I'm not the kind to give up over a little disappointment. I'll keep right on trying to help people with my suggestions, until I'm plumb sock out of ideas!! The next old guy you see standing at the side of a road under construction, telling the guys how to do it, could very likely ...be me! Now, as for you and Burt,...I guess you're doing OK, for now. Just don't let it go to your head!
Nice talk Chris. I don’t believe l’ve ever failed to “like” a RUclips video you posted. I don’t have to agree with your opinion to appreciate the time and effort you put into these productions. GNI
Have you considered making an FAQ (Frequenty Asked Questions) page you could link on all your videos or the videos from now on? It wont stop the repeat questions, but it could lessen them. Good morning Chris and all you Woodhounds! When I was in the Boy Scouts ( Eagle Scout ) and were teaching the younger scouts I always told them to do it the way I was teaching them BUT if they would find a way to do that was easier for them do it that. They're always different ways to do the same job. Keep up the great videos!!!! 🤔👍❤️📹😃
Chris I've watched most of your videos if not all and rarely comment. I have learned an awful lot from you but the fact that's turds don't know they stink maybe the single most valuable lesson you've shared! If you are still taking suggestions on topics I'd like to see more on the business end of things and how you started and when you legitimized the business and if its llc or dba and stuff like that. I am trying to decide if it's time to do an llc for myself
Well, you got me thinking. I never thought to read the comments. I just listen to what you have to say, that's my education. I watch your videos for educational purposes, so now I might start reading some of the comments also. I'm always interested in getting educated. I like to learn something every day. thanks Chris
I’ve been watching you from day one on my TV today. I started watching you on the phone so I can make some comments. Every morning I get my bag of lays potato chips and a coffee and want you. You’re doing a good job. I would like to see your brother some more. I like him too that’s all for today.
Jordan didn't suck in high school, he certainly was well known in college. He was a starter as a freshman on the 1982 national championship team, and won the 1984 National Player of the Year, and went #3 in the 1984 draft. Besides that, love your channel, but this is me sharing the knowledge you asked for :)
I rented a Stump grinder yesterday for 1st time STAND BEHIND, GOOD FOR STUMPS UP TO 30". Multiple Mistakes, #1 didnt have the Rocks and dirt cleared around stumps before starting the job. Didn't think it was a big deal until I Was told when I picking up rental $15 charge per broken tooth, so I thought no big deal rented for 4 hours spent 1st 1.5 Hours cleaning around stumps got 10 cleaned out of 17 stumps. 20 minute ride each way which is part of the 4hrs. #2 was 87 degrees and humid. #3 if your doing stumps on any slope or hill unload grinder at the top work down stump grinder is not self propelled you have to push it yourself #4 Do some research watch some videos get some tips before jumping in #5 have someone to help load unload jump in to run the machine clear as chipping. I was able to get 9 done.
Good morning Chris, I like your diverse catalog of videos of firewood. One thing we don’t see much of is a little more of the setup and takedowns of the day. Example would be a rundown of some of the general maintenance involved with day to day equipment. Another good one might be the importance of cleanliness in the wood yard. I know you have segments of videos that part of these are in, but a video dedicated to those maybe good. Another one would be pre and post saw set up. Doesn’t need to be a how to but maybe explain your thought on this. You do a great job at trying to be a diverse as you can containing firewood.
I found your channel a while back while looking for reviews of the 592 which you had recently acquired and the rest as they say is history, I still stand by the statement that ladders and chainsaws do not mix for the AVERAGE! chainsaw user and some above average as well and then there is you😂 I think you have given me inspiration for my own sig line for this channel. 1% 💩😁
I like your ideas about "group consciousness" I think we may all have access to the same knowledge, but sometimes we have to lend a helping hand.......or get one!!! After all; we are all in the same "boat" so to speak........
Hey Chris just wanted to share an idea. I have found that the take out bladders from ibc totes make an excellent coral for firewood when filled with sand. They can be stacked two high staggered like concrete blocks. Putting some stone on the floor of the coral provides drainage. Thanks for your efforts
Hello Sir, what other uses have you found for the Bladders. The suggestion above is great, however for me my woodyard is small. I have three bladders to use
At the time of this comment there are 116 comments to read. and I read through them. I would like to know many People will come back after many days later to read through the comments again ? That is why I wait several days after a video from anybody to see what comments are out there. Most times I do not go back to re-read the Comments unless some has made a Comment towards a comment I have made. Thanks Chris.....
I learned to type using a Mavis Beacon app. Touch typing is like the teeth on a chain saw. Some is on the left, some on the right. There are home keys, and little bumps for your index fingers. ASDF on the left, JKL: on the right. More teeth on a saw than there are keys on a QWERTY keyboard. Just a challenger from an east coast guy. Next week Im trying out a KNakasaki shame saw. LOL.
But i'm a Stihl guy, you don't like my opinion LOL!! I always remember the Billy Joel quote "The things i need to learn in life i learned by doing twice". Talking about sod harvesters one time a guy asked my father and i "Are you guys like, trained mechanics?" I said "No we've just done bearing replacements and rebuilds so many times it's gotten easy.
OK, Chris, I will help you out, From here forward I give you permission to NOT respond to my comments. Also, I would like to remind those other commenters who like to tell you how to run your business that you know how to do firewood and you don't need their advise. But Chris, Seriously, If you do get stumped someday and needs some help...I AM HERE FOR YOU. I am a pretty smart guy and I can probably help you thru a crisis. And should I not know how to fix something I can make up something....I do love to give advise. Anyway, Thanks for putting up with us and keep up the good work!
Ok Chris,I try without sounding like a know it all.lol but I've begged the channel many times,I'll answer more ?s if that helps you, just the ones I know of your channel 100 percent, thanks
Chris, I think you might see this. I have a serious question about YT and what you do, that I hope you'd be willing to answer either here or offline. It's amazing the amount of collaboration, interviews, and the like that you do, such as the Arndt vids. I'd love to hear how you go about going to these different business' and setting up the interviews/tours. Do you ever feel awkward talking to a camera you are holding in front of the guy that runs the processor every day? What do you tell people prior to beginning an interview. I feel awkward when I'm talking to a camera and my neighbor drives by! Send me a note if you are willing to chat. Or when you are up in Minocqua again, let me know, we can have a drink around the fire.
Yup, I just watched one of your videos and thought that we need to get together this summer! I used to worry about what people thought then I got over it. Just ask people and I found the more I do the easier it gets. All they can say is yes no or maybe.. ..Often now people ask me just like you did!
This is why Chris has a top channel on RUclips.
Thanks, it is because of all of you!
Can't beat the power of synergy. I would much rather surround myself with folks that think somewhat differently than with people that think just like me. I have learned so much from watching you and others that I am now looking for ways to pay it forward.
Yup, giving is the best way to learn and get. A closed mind and hand makes it hard to learn.
Best thing I ever heard you say” people first, very refreshing , sometimes lost in todays culture
Thanks a bunch Evan!

The best part about your Chanel if have a question. You always answer. So many Chanels don’t do that. Keep up the good work ✌🏻
I appreciate that!
Thanks for watching...I will do some more for sure.
Love when you deliver videos and my favorite is when you go to different stores to look at wood and prices :)
Awesome! Thank you!
Dr. Chris...the wood psychologist. I like it. Giving food for the mind and warmth for the body. Great video my man.
Thanks Philip!
Well said my friend. That is why I absolutely love RUclips because everyone can learn about so many different topics. So much information out there and knowledge is key!

Good morning Chris,
I was taught as a kid to listen to other people, especially the older ones as they have a wealth of knowledge gained from life and it's stood me in good stead all my life.
My grandfather always said there is no such thing as an expert because no one person can know all there is to know about any given subject.
I've been doing my job now for nearly 40 years and I'm still learning and I still learn from others all the time.
Helping others makes the world go round and is the best way to live your life.!😊
Yup, all of us are smarter than the smartest person.
used to be a poster in a restaurant near me - just as I thought I knew all the answers someone came by and changed all the questions
How true, life is always changing
Yup!
Great way to ask for help. A lot of us in the firewood business know what is going on so it only makes sense. Excellent idea. I think I will do this with my channel as well.
Thanks 👍
Awesome video Chris and some great advice that we should all do more of.
Thanks!!
One of the best videos I have watched! Thats why you are the firewood king Chris! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for watching!
Great video. I have learned things from you and your commenters. I’m thankful for all of it.
I appreciate that!
Chris, excellent advice to us all you learn with your hands 🙌 lots of times not always from a book 😮😊❤
Yes! I have learned way more doing than reading.
Chris, a great video & excellent food for thought. Your videos are very informational & I think people will gain a lot of knowledge watching them. Dave D. from Southern Maine.👍
I appreciate that Dave!!
Brainstorming helps everyone!! We are never to old to learn!! You've helped a lot of people!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Yup, thanks David!
We love watching your channel making us laugh which is nice. Thank you!
Thanks a bunch for watching!
Just love watching, probably watched every single video for the past year.
Awesome! Thanks!

Ha! I just got a new 562xp mark ll ....love it...videos soon!!
Just so you know Chris, it's because you've replyed even if it is just one 'yup' to almost every comment I've made is why I watch almost every video you make, and even the few that don't interest me for whatever reason I leave run in the background to help with the algorithm.
Thanks so much Mr. Smith....yup!
I love the tractors all together working for sure like Ken and your other brothers working all 4 or show ever many tractors you got that’s my favorite
Thanks 👍
I’m a big tractor fan of all tractors not against any of them
Well said Chris, have a great day!
Thanks!
The way I look at it the person that has Jesus first winds then family second then friends and then you'll be a winner must always put Jesus first
That's right
That's right
GREAT POINT!! Thanks!
I have learned a lot from you on this channel you’re doing great job keep it up
Thanks Dennis!
Well said Chris! I’m never to old or proud to learn something new. Stay safe and have a great day…
Thanks!

Chris I'll help where and when I can. I don't comment much but will try to read comments and help out when I can. Keep up the great work even though you said a while back you were going to cut back some.
Thanks Bob!!
Great advice, Chris. I can't tell you how many i have helped over the years with Mazda's because I knew someone simple that was overlooked.
Yup, helping others is what counts.
I watch on the tv at home. But if want to comment and read the comments, I pull out my phone and go to the same video.
Thanks!
Great approach! I’m new to your channel…just got into working chainsaws and firewood so I’ve got tons to learn. I’m learning most of it from my comment section. 👊
Awesome, thanks for watching! Lots of great people here and over 1400 videos waiting for you to watch! Thanks!!

Thanks so much Larry!!
Good morning Chris!!😀😀
Morning Al!
Have you considered making an FAQ (Frequenty Asked Questions) page you could link on all your videos or the videos from now on? It wont stop the repeat questions, but it could lessen them. Your army of viewers might be able to help write some up, so all you would have to do is cut and paste a Q and A to the page.
Over the years I have done several videos covering the common questions.

Can we see another side of oak. Maybe have JB get you down to a barrel making factory and all the processes involved.
Maybe so, good idea!
That is awesome!
Good talk Chris👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Thanks Sir Toddeth!
If doing deliveries also consider that going legit may require expensive commercial vehicle insurance. 💩1%er 😁
Thanks so much, yes we have some ideas for future videos that you will like!
Yup.
Well, you got me thinking. I never thought to read the comments. I just listen to what you have to say, that's my education. I watch your videos for educational purposes, so now I might start reading some of the comments also. I'm always interested in getting educated. I like to learn something every day. thanks Chris
There are a lot of very knowledgeable people here!
I honestly think it’s perfect the way it is don’t change a thing keep up the good content you are doing great!
Thank you so much!
I’ve been watching you from day one on my TV today. I started watching you on the phone so I can make some comments. Every morning I get my bag of lays potato chips and a coffee and want you. You’re doing a good job. I would like to see your brother some more. I like him too that’s all for today.
Thanks so much Clarence!! Potato chips are good for you, they make you happy!!
Thanks.
you're a real inspiration Chris, glad to see the sun is shining brightly on you
Yup, just like My good friend John D. used to sing I've got sunshine on my shoulder! Thanks for watching!
I love to learn. The day I know it all is the day I better stay in bed.
Yup, me too, an open mind catches more stuff!
Well said Chris. Enjoyed the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sounds like a big job!
Awesome channel, info, and audience. Thans.
Yup, good people here!
Thanks for the input and for watching!
Great video. Thanks. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Thanks for watching!
Thanks a bunch for watching and helping here often to answer questions, I do appreciate it!
I might be a wealth of meaningless knowledge but when it comes to firewood you are my Yoda 👍
Thanks...Inflate my ego, you have.
Spencer@SB Mowing has a tool/attachment for his shovel that makes shoveling easier. Like a handle for his handle.
okay, thanks.
I like your ideas about "group consciousness" I think we may all have access to the same knowledge, but sometimes we have to lend a helping hand.......or get one!!! After all; we are all in the same "boat" so to speak........
Yup, thanks for watching!
Hey Chris just wanted to share an idea. I have found that the take out bladders from ibc totes make an excellent coral for firewood when filled with sand. They can be stacked two high staggered like concrete blocks. Putting some stone on the floor of the coral provides drainage. Thanks for your efforts
Good idea! Thanks for watching!
Hello Sir, what other uses have you found for the Bladders. The suggestion above is great, however for me my woodyard is small. I have three bladders to use
I call that type of typing the ”hunt and peck” style of typing lol😊😊
Yup!
I like what ever you put on here.
Thanks a bunch!
Hey Chris can we see more of you and Ken taking trees down.
Yup, we will do some!
👍👍👍
Thanks!!!
Thanks Mike, there is a lot of good stuff in the comments!
Not sure exactly what separates RUclips from a forum, like Hearth. Maybe personality, presentation of content, entertainment value, …?
Yup, maybe so, thanks for watching!
LOL.
Yup, I tried it years ago.
Yup, doing a thing a lot makes you better at it and like it more, I tell my wife that a lot but.....
More kitty time please.
Okay I will let them know ! HA!!!
Hi Chris I Like everything best the big woos cutting ( Ty Ron
Thanks!
It can't always be done but. I try to cut my fire wood before the sap rises and before any foliage. It seems to help seasoning.
Okay.
Thanks a bunch for you expert advice!!!
Going to the show in Essex junction looking at processors might be time for one
Sounds great have fun!
I gotta get down and check out the new woodyard soon! Take care Chris
Hi Mike how's it going
Yes you do!
@@kennethcarlson8713 Hey Kenny. Going good . Busy as can be!
Sometimes we forget that we knew something and a reminder is helpful. Also how do you get to Carnegie hall, practice, practice, practice.
Yup, practice makes us all better!
Good morning all!
Hello Kurt!!!
👏✅
Thanks!
Ok Chris,I try without sounding like a know it all.lol but I've begged the channel many times,I'll answer more ?s if that helps you, just the ones I know of your channel 100 percent, thanks
Thanks!!
Chris does it help when I put thumbs up on comments? Yours and everyone else??? I been trying to,just didn't know if it does anything for channel???
Seems reasonable
Thanks!
Well it’s going to be interesting to see where heavier viewer takes this.
Thanks Jeff, all my viewers are in perfect condition, mostly runway models or Ironman competitors.
Time management is the solution.
Okay.
i want to see some hunting videos from your trips to alaska..
I do too! We went before I was making videos...that means i need to go again!!!
@@InTheWoodyard yeah you do..i miss it
