Electric blue acara is very beautiful fish with character. They are responsible parents. It’s fun to watch the mother walks the babies around and pecks the straying away babies one by one back into their home cave. Thumbs up to your new addition. 😊
The male is guarding the eggs and the two females are out and about! In cichlids you can tell male from female by the dorsal fin. The males dorsal is longer and has an extended tip, where the females dorsal fin is a bit shorter and more rounded at the end.
@@MDFishTanks I am quite obsessed by blue acaras, and in all the breeding videos I have seen, they never separate the father and the mother. They are great parents, and they both raise the fries. Also, and I don't know if this one is true, but it seems that Blue Acaras tend to form a lifetime couple.
So glad you are going to use a fine sand for your apistogramma cacatuoides it's really cool to watch them sift the sand through the gills when they eat
Hi I've had this same situation! The mum and dad fish are great parents and will not hurt the babies, you may need to remove the 3rd fish but it may be ok.... just keep watching, soon it will be clear who mum and dad are as they wont let the 3rd near them. Thanks for this video. I have had my blue acaras for about a month now, didn't know whether they were male or female, but today noticed them protecting a plant in my tank, and looked closer to see eggs covering the leaves of the plant.
I'd leave the acara fry in the tank. Acara are great parents! It may take them a few attempts to get it right, but they will raise their young. Just make sure they get the food. Both the male and female will protect their young, might take a couple times, but they'll get it eventually. You may want to remove the one that isn't part of the pair.
Another excellent video and let the parents raise them is the best. If you pull the wigglers is a lot of work. For the plucostamus, you can use a small terracotta pot, lay it side ways. That is what I use and they have spond.

She jumped out of that tank and scratched her eyes on the carpet causing a temporary blindness. Again she healed. Now she is in with my rainbow fish and angel and they all get along great. I have hundreds of fish but she is my favorite and will only eat if it's from my hand.

My blue acara have been very good parents. They are generally great parents and share the job. Warning they will spawn again in less than 3 weeks if you remove the fry . Hi MD! Your videos are amazing and your aquascaping style is unbelievable! I've a questione for you: Do you buy all the woods and stones used in the tanks? Many thanks
What kind of tank would you suggest for a couple of apistogramma and maybe some tetras? Would 45*35*35 cm (that’s 1 1/2 ft*1 1/4 ft* 1 1/4 ft) do? I’m building a heavily planted tank and I’m thinking of adding a couple of Viejita to it and some Cardinals. Thanks, mate. Giorgio from Bergamo, Northern Italy.
ive bred these before and you can leave them in there it will be fine once they start to swim the mother will suck them into her mouth if they stray to far and place them back with the bunch also they follow the mother around till she is comfortable with letting them go. but also this a very stressful point for the mother and some might get picked off by the other 2 adults
I’m looking for a red and a green stem plant with similar growth rates to create a kinda mixed mass of stems that I can trim all at once. Any suggestions for species?
I actually have a shrimp related question , I’m setting up my first shrimp tank, literally purchased everything you recommended LOL my question is how many of the filters do you have attached to your air pump? I’m planning on doing multiple tanks eventually but I ordered just one to start so I’m wondering if I should get a smaller pump or get the one you recommend since I will have multiple tanks eventually.

Wow, love your tanks MD! Lucky to have EBA spawn just after a week in a new tank, when they're so young and all the stress of moving :D
Your tanks are really cool! Where do you get it all from, tanks and crome pipework etc
Hi MD! Your videos are amazing and your aquascaping style is unbelievable! I've a questione for you: Do you buy all the woods and stones used in the tanks?
Many thanks
Next time we wanna see a dramatic entrance 🏃🏽😄
Congratulations, Daddy MD👍🏾😅
What kind of tank would you suggest for a couple of apistogramma and maybe some tetras? Would 45*35*35 cm (that’s 1 1/2 ft*1 1/4 ft* 1 1/4 ft) do? I’m building a heavily planted tank and I’m thinking of adding a couple of Viejita to it and some Cardinals. Thanks, mate. Giorgio from Bergamo, Northern Italy.
Congrats on your new babies!! Fish w***y so naughty 😂
They love
leaves so put some in if you want mine allways put eggs on them
Keep doing what you do best and what you enjoy in fish keeping 🐠👍 💪
ive bred these before and you can leave them in there it will be fine once they start to swim the mother will suck them into her mouth if they stray to far and place them back with the bunch also they follow the mother around till she is comfortable with letting them go. but also this a very stressful point for the mother and some might get picked off by the other 2 adults
this tank looks amazing, u did a great job
u deffo earned a sub there :)
MD how many shrimps can i put in a 30cm cube tank
I’m looking for a red and a green stem plant with similar growth rates to create a kinda mixed mass of stems that I can trim all at once. Any suggestions for species?
I actually have a shrimp related question , I’m setting up my first shrimp tank, literally purchased everything you recommended LOL my question is how many of the filters do you have attached to your air pump? I’m planning on doing multiple tanks eventually but I ordered just one to start so I’m wondering if I should get a smaller pump or get the one you recommend since I will have multiple tanks eventually.
the African rever its a really cool tank, please give us some update ..tnks
Same, my Bolivian rams spawned within 3-4 weeks of arriving. I never moved the fry, they never spawned again :(
Congratulations sir...I think you should not put some other fish like Cori's to cleen the bottom for now
I was using frozen shrimp brine for fish babies
Leave the eggs alon..... Acaras love their own eggs😂 As only one time meal 😂🤣
Mine never ate their own eggs 😀
you could get some shrimp to clean without disturbing them
