  • Electric blue acara fry! I've only had these electric blue acaras for a few months, and they've already bred and delivered a bunch of babies! I'm not a breeder, so watch as I struggle to figure out what to do with these cute little guys.
    Cichlid Charmer is dedicated to sharing the joy of keeping African cichlids and American cichlids and sharing information about them. Much of my content is not cichlid fish specific, however. It also pertains to all tropical fish aquariums. I will share what I have learned about cichlids and other fish, and everyone is welcomed to comment with their own experiences and information about fish and aquarium practices in general.

    Trade you some my red for some for your blue? Lol I love cichlids for this trait if you got 2 you love chances are you gonna get A LOT MORE. My wife hates how many fish I have now but here I thought she was worried about how much they cost… lol well, good job trying 😂, wrigglers are a sight the first time you see them but my Jewels are all about .5”-1.0”. Great video and I hope you keep a few of your fry so we can watch them grow! Stay happy and healthy my friend 😊❤ the only truck I can recommend is the same for what I did and what others do with Angelfish, give them their own tank

    Good luck with the fry! I started with 5 young adults and separated two and now have a trio of one male and two females in a 75 gallon continuously spawning, yikes! Didn't have the ability to set up another tank for the babies but after one failed spawn, the rest have been successful with zero effort from me, but they're also the biggest fish in their tank so different experience I'm sure XD! Thanks for sharing!

    I did the same. Syphoned all the kids out. I had an established heavily planted tank with shrimp and snails so the biofilm helped feed. They stayed in there a couple of months. Fry starter food and later baby brine and crushed flake. My first 3 fry rescues ended in mass deaths. Still dont know what I did wrong, bare bottom, kept clean 🤷‍♀️ The female and male pair excellent parents, both feisty and constant care. This last lot of eggs with a new dad, didnt make it to hatching...he was hopeless!!! Ive decided to leave the next batch in and let nature decide. And I dont have enough tanks!

    Oh man you're a grandpa how fun and one of EBA's their so beautiful, I think you did a great job with the set up and the powdered foods also like other's said here BBS you can get frozen ones. I like to grow my own which really isn't hard to do just another chore to deal with, I also grow vinegar eels (icky) the bigger babies seem to love them. Of course, don't take my advice look at how many babies I have lost but again I'm trying to raise German Blue Rams the little turds are so delicate. Great Job Grandpa and thanks for showing us these little cuties (really, I'm jealous), oh my 2 cents worth.... more fry are on the way with the males still with mama haha, yeah horny is the right word!

    I am no ciclid guy (now considering dwarf SA ciclids) but man, I love your videos. Honestly, keep it up cause it makes learning, fun. Are EBAs on the same size scope as Apistos and SA Rams? Thank you for replying, you really live up to your word!

    • @CichlidCharmer
      @CichlidCharmer  11 дней назад +1

      Wow thank you! So EBAs get a lot larger than the dwarf cichlids you mentioned. Apistos and rams are pretty small. These guys get around 6” so by no means dwarves. I haven’t had them that long, but I think their temperament is probably fairly similar though. With dwarves you still need to make sure there’s enough space for them to establish their own territories, so if you have more than a single or a mating pair, you need to consider somewhat larger tanks. A single pair is fine in a 20 gallon.

    I don’t think EBAs will have problems in the larger aquarium with other cichlids. They seem to be pretty good at holding their own with other cichlids. I have one that is now living with an 8 inch Frontosa cichlid and he never fights with it. I have a nyererei cichlid that gets chased by him from time to time but nyererei is able to swim away to safety. I originally had a severum with him but he turned color and looked very similar to your female breeding EBA and relentlessly chased the severum and tore up its fins. So as of now he doesn’t have any South American cichlid tank mates.

      @@CichlidCharmer I think the EBA would look great in the larger tank. They are beautiful fish and they like swim around a lot which is a good tank mate for your Oscar. Plus they don’t get as big as the Oscar so they won’t beat it up.

      Hi there. What an exciting position to be in - a blank canvas to fill. There are a lot of different types to choose from in that size tank. Lots of different factors to evaluate, like stocking levels you want, aggression levels, max fish size you feel comfortable with, etc. I’ll be comparing my peacocks and haps vs my Americans in this coming Saturday’s video.

    Hi, I’m rather new to the channel. I’ve kept fancy goldfish for about a year but I recently had some kind of bacteria or infection take over and I lost all my fish. I’m looking to restart with peacock cichlids, I’ve got a 75 gallon with a canister and hang on back filter and I’m looking to buy from snake river cichlids. Do you have any recommendations on keeping healthy fish as I seem to have fairly bad luck with fish but I love them too much to not keep them!

    • @CichlidCharmer
      @CichlidCharmer  9 дней назад

      Welcome to the channel and to the crazy world of African cichlids 🤪. Good genetics, good food, and nice clean water with the right parameters for the fish you’re keeping are all important. Of course I’m assuming you know about the nitrogen cycle. If you don’t, learn about it before adding fish. Stress is a huge factor in keeping healthy fish, so make sure your tank is set up properly with the right kind and amounts of decor, and that you don’t let a lot of bullying go on. IME peacocks are the biggest a-holes out of all the African cichlids, so be warned.

      Yeah I hope I can rehome all my little guys. If you have four males, you might run into aggression issues, so keep an eye out.

    • @MonleylessMavenAquatics
      @MonleylessMavenAquatics 2 дня назад

      @CichlidCharmer yeah they're about to get moved into a 125 gallon from the 55 they're in until it gets put up. So far, they're just chasing each other, but I took out the smallest and put "her " into her own tank. Then, I ended up taking my Sid Vicious, the biggest one, out and put him in his own tank, but I plan to put them all in the 125. Although, now that it's the two medium ones by themselves, it seems like I'm seeing some breeding behavior. They chase each other around, then stop and swim side by side, doing this little wiggle to each other. I thought it might be aggression, but they're both going to the same corner at the same time and staying there together. I really don't know what to think. These are my first EBAs. I've only had them close to a year, so I'm still a newbie.
