What a beautiful aquarium and the Aqua Decor is a great start to make it a great area to hang out with whoever is around the house. I don't think I would spend very much time anywhere else. The only suggestion is to keep your eyes open for the new construction sites and anywhere you see fresh dirt and heavy duty machines and then the usual places that are open to the public for a few dozen large rocks for the only thing better than a lot of curated hard scape is getting it for free . I'm thinking having the real stuff on the bottom where you can be sure that it's not ever going to collapse and possibly injure any of your fish. Last thing I was thinking would be focused on the back which I think is a lot more dynamic especially when 1 or both corners are as tall as you can get it. Then again whatever you like that is the only thing that matters 🍻
Another great video Dave. The black background creates the illusion of more depth. It compliments both the substrate and aquascape really well. I've also read that darker backgrounds, aswell as adding a natural appeal to the tank, may also help the inhabitants feel more secure. Overall, it looks like something out of a NatGeo documentary. The eel is a pleasantly surprising addition. Well done mate 👍👍👍
Wow congratulations on that new tank and those fish are absolutely beautiful I guess you could say you bought a new tank and I bought a new car they probably cost about the same
The tank looks fantastic! I love your group and the eel is beautiful and just the right touch of different and cool the tank needed! Love the set up too! Stay happy and healthy my friend!😊❤
Well thank you very much! I’m super excited for that eel, although… had a scary experience with him right after this video was finished. That’ll be in the next one. Thanks again!
Love how it turned out. Thanks for posting it. I many aqudecor items and background in my 150g and love it as well. I can see why u didn’t want a background but I’m sure it wouldn’t have taken that much room. Maybe down the future they can sponsor it. I’m sure it would be a pretty penny for that size too.
Tank looks out of this world!!!!! Future tip on long big pieces of driftwood: you can do it in a kiddie pool, but best to do it in summer so the sun can heat the water and use pool salt and hydrogen peroxide. It'll kill anything living in or on that wood and soak it for a about a week or more depending on size of wood. Then simply pressure wash or hose off and scrub after its done.
Your positive feedback is so much appreciated! I'm so happy you enjoy the videos! I do remember seeing a few of your comments in the past, so thanks for coming back and leaving another one
"WOW", what can I say..."I love it", Hi Miss Stella I see you're helping again but this time with your stuffy you're such a sweetheart, Haha are we compensating LOL, and the voice of the devil, sweet! OK, I love the aqua decor you chose it looks very natural, I hate to boil wood and rocks it takes too long, my last wood had so much sand and gunk in it that didn't come out I never used it. I really think Eel Longoria is a perfect addition she/he really looks cool it is so fun to hand feed those odd-looking eels how exciting I can't wait to see her grow well all of your fish. I bet all of this prep and planning would indeed cause a lot of deep medications oops I mean meditation and thought and man it sure paid off, it's wonderful! As stated, I can't wait to see everything grow and mature!
Such a funny comment as usual, Polly. You should be a comedian haha! Stella is the only dog we’ve ever had that plays fetch. And she’s really good at it! Glad you like Eel Longoria. It’s good to remember why I always loved those tire tracks so much.
I must say that the video editing is so professionally done. I think if you do more projects and more interesting scapes your channel will grow immensely. I suggest looking at new cichlids from Magdascar or India or something like that and create new ecosystems. Keep doing the good work.
love your eel! I have two sengalese bichers and absolutely love them. They’re getting pretty good size 7” or so. They feed out e my hand! Love my dinosaurs Zipper and Slinky. Beautiful job on your tank!
The tank set up is beautiful! That branch is brilliant and I like the fake leaves. Everything looks great! I hope your Carpintis behaves long term-mine now lives alone. The eel is a really cool addition! Looking forward to seeing this tank mature!
I’m so glad you like it! Yeah that guy needs to mellow out. Thanks for liking my eel - he’s disappeared so I’m just making sure he didn’t get stuck somewhere lol
I enjoy your series. By the way Aqua decor makes a slim flex background that magnets onto the glass. Takes up at most an inch of tank space. Thats what im doing for my 240 mostly Hap tank.
Not gonna lie, looks awesome !! I really love actually when is real wood and it's decomposing and the plecos can eat it and they also eat some of the leaves, but yeah, you aquarium looks really good men, and the fish seem to enjoy it !
@@CichlidCharmer yeah actually fake is more easy maintenance and the fish are never going to notice it, it's a beautiful aquarium bro, just hope to see the overall progress of that aquarium And yeah I'm actually coming from the walstad method and all of that hippie stuff, but really love yeah this style also
CC, Wow what a tank setup it looks so good buddy. The eel is cool looking. How big does that eel get? That salvini is so pretty. You have a girl because the girl salvinis are mostly yellow. I have a salvini also but mine isn’t showing that much color as yours. How big is the fish in the tank. I know you ordered them a certain size. My salvini is about 3 in or so. They are very pretty fish. Funny how the fish stopped at the salvini and she was like nope. You aren’t chasing me lol. Congrats on getting a female the yellows and reds on a female salvini are on point.
Thanks, Jeremy. I’m so glad you saw this because you have been motivating me to do this for so long. The eel should top out around 30”. And yeah, that Salvini is cool beans. She isn’t mean yet, but she won’t take anything from the Texas. Glad you thought that was funny, because I sure do. The Salvini is about 3”.
Can you share the type of paint you used to color the back pane, and any techniques or special rollers would be helpful. I will going to figure out if painting it or placing vinyl on it will be best for me.thanks!
Sure. Rust-Oleum 1976502 Painter's... www.amazon.com/dp/B000BZX6UK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I just used a mini cabinet roller. Ultra smooth nap. It took about four coats because there was no primer.
My texas cichlid loves to chase my fish especially my Oscar who is a bit bigger than him. They are very territorial and want the whole tank to themselves.
We shall see if a tank this size lets it work. If not, I know what to do. Strangely at this point, the Texas hates everyone except the chocolate, the Oscar and the salvini
Have you tried treating natural drift wood with hydrogen peroxide diluted solution to get rid of pathogens? I used it as an alternative to boiling drift wood. Still had to deal with the tannins though and took more than 10 water changes on tank to bring tan down to acceptable level.
I have never bothered boiling any wood and in 30+ years have never had a problem associated with using natural deco from the wild. A better excuse for using fake wood is your tank won't get filled with tannins, assuming you don't like blackwater setups.
I bought one because they aren't as aggressive as the SUPER aggressive fish like the flowerhorn, and I'm hoping the large footprint of the tank will keep everyone cool together. We'll see!
Looks awesome man! One thing that looks cool on SA/CA tanks are floating plants/cover. I used reptile enclosure vines attached to the top. I hope the tire track works, but from my experience, the more aggressive cichlids like the salvini or Texas might bite its nose 🤞 ruclips.net/video/jDw-w-gChtQ/видео.htmlfeature=shared
The paint from the fake tree branches, leaves, and fake rocks I would imagine will fade and leach in to the tank over time. Like all other fake aquarium decor in the hobby.
What do you think of this new decor and the tank overall? Is the eel the coolest non cichlid ever to you?
The Decor is awesome!!! I just got some decor for my 230 gallon central / American cichlid tank

I haven’t heard of that method but it sounds good. Purigen will remove the tannins.
Fire eel😂
What was the cost for the whole tank set up?
I had a discount, but the tank itself is usually around $5,000 and the sump another $2,000. Those are rough figures.
The rocks can get damaged?
They could, but they should be fine in here.
