6:10 i don't want to sound like a wellllll ACKTUALLY person, but actually the tax brackets don't work like that. over 40k, you're only taxed higher on the money you make above that. for example: if you earn 41k, 40k of that is taxed normally, and 1k at the higher rate.

I ran into quite a huge problem with tax during my first job. Because the company apparently hadn't done something the way they were supposed to, I was being taxed even though I worked minimum wage. I had to constantly pursue the issue with them, consistently got given the run around, told by everyone I phoned that it was someone else's fault, and it wasn't until I left there and moved to the other side of the country that I received my P45 and was issued £600 in tax that shouldn't have been taken

Speaking of weird laws, there was a law in my state of the US that you couldn’t walk down a road with an ice cream cone in your back pocket. The reasoning was (back in the 1800s) people could lure horses away from their owners by doing that.
Oh if we're talking about funny laws then know that in Idaho, it's illegal to ride a merry go round on a sunday. I'm serious look it up.

In austria the highest tax bracket is 55% for people who make over 1mil€ per year. But, for example, uni is entirely free for the minimum study time + 2 semesters tolerance and after that is costs like 300€ per semester.
I'm gonna do a "well actually to Ellis. 45+% Tax isn't, in actuality, 50% of your income. The average income for, say an engineer, only equates to just over £4600 from 35½ grand a year

the D in D-Day doesn't really stand for anything, it's short for the military phrase 'H-hour, D-day', which means the time and day an operation (such as Overlord or Market Garden) is scheduled to commence. As an aside, hope Gabby is doing well though, or at least that she feels better soon.

Oat & raisin are good, but we have "cowboy cookies" back home, and they have oats, raisins, pecans or walnuts, and chocolate chips. Yum!
about the tax rate, you only pay the higher rate on the amount of money that exceeds the lower tax rate limit, not the entire amount.
It does however lead to situations where it is more beneficial monetary to decline a payrise because of this. this situation only occurs when you pretty much end up on the cutoff line between the rates.
