Your Podcast is really the only one i can listen to for hours. Normally i get bored after about 15 minutes, but you four have such interesting topics and discussions, it's really awesome. Okay now to the topic: I bought Loot Boxes myself, but only a few, cause they are really expensive. And then there are this like 10 year old kids, who join a round in a game and brag about how much money they spent on skins and loot boxes ect. And every time i just think: Who let this kid be online and let him buy all of this. Where are the parents? And when i say stuff like: "Yeah but it's not your money you spent, its your parents money.", this kids often get so aggressive (at least here in Germany) like hold on it's just a fact, my god. But i really don't like those parents, who have no idea what their kid is doing online, buying all this stuff with their money. Like please look what your kids are doing and set boundaries, thanks. 😂😅 I also feel really bad for those people who think they have to buy all of those stuff "to be cool", and then they (or their parents) end up in debt. Or like you guys said they don't get what they want, and buy more and more. Personally i think loot boxes are a problem, and not only a little one. And to the companys: I've always wanted to work for a game company or something in this direction, but then i saw tweets like Rockstars or ex-employees speaking up, and that changed my mind (i mean i would probably didn't have a chance, so that was just a dream), cause like i earn about 18.000 Euro a year for a "normal" 40 hours/week job, and i'm pretty happy with my job. And then there are those publishers who let their people work for less money and more hours, and it's sad just to think about it man. To end this long comment: Thanks again for the podcast, really liked it. 😊
One good thing in germany is, that if you are between 7 and 18, you are only partial able to make contracts. Every money interaction counts as a contract. So, if your parents find out about you buying expensive things in the internet, they have to agree with the contract. If they don`t, then the contract is null and void and they have to give the money back and the bought things go back to the seller.
So I also used to play a free mobile game, that didnt even have any involuntarily ads or anything. Thing is, it's a drag racing game and they wanted absurd amounts of money for cars of keys to open the loot boxes. Like 25 euro's for a car thats just objectively faster than anything else. So it came at a point where you just know which cars to refuse to ruse when playing online since they were pay to win
please bring this back, its such a nice form of entertainment while doing homework. its really interesting and i dont need to keep switching vids, just makes homework so much faster

Parents should not have to pore over a box for specific in-game warnings when you've got a nice "Ages 4+" logo on it or whatever (which nowadays people are circumventing by adding microtransactions and things after they've released the game and had it rated by the ESRB or equivalent). It's not unreasonable to assume something like that is safe.

I mean I wouldn't expect a Warcraft III Reforged level of disregard from Bioware, but those two developers feel kinda similar now imo.
games like speedrunners, sea of thieves and many other games with cosmetics which don't have loot boxes are a lot better but still aren't good its rather strange how people get so tied to cosmetics in games which will give little bits of enjoyment. i enjoy games a lot and play them but never want to buy loot boxes. it's so strange how games like cs:go and valorant have cosmetics with outragous prices; if i made any cosmetic games i would probably make them with skins for about 5p per skin bc i think thats reasonable and easy to get lots of skins without spending much, but games which have about £50 per skin like certain cs:go skins and valorant skins is absolutely outrageous! also do emulated games count as pirated games, i mean technically it isn't but i guess it could be. like i emulated loz wind waker bc i can't afford a hole gamecube/WII U for it (bc my wii can't run it) on dolphin but i really question if it is or not edit: OK SO the final starwars film was a huge killer for me, i personally loved the force awakens and hated the ones after, and the prequels were pretty bad but the mandalorian, the later seasons of the clone wars, rouge 1, the han solo origin story and the original trilogy were amazing the final film had such a bad twist and i just was crying inside as to how much of a let down it was, it was just such a bad plot and made no sense. i genuinely am angry at it! although i do really wonder what happened if the alternate route happened ( i think that jabba was meant to be a sith leader or something, but it got canceled bc the fans didn't like him).
I had to wait 4 months after my birthday just to get my bloody loot box. But i half to say i git some pretty good stuff from it. Wich was a pair of sweet arbiter armor socks and a borderlands mouse pad. I am wearing the socks the now.
I was laughing because rogue one wasn't even written by Disney it was a fan fic about what could have happened right before a new hope. I believe the original owner of the story was a German writer.

My thing with loot boxes is that, your paying to have a chance to get something, which is stupid. In Fornite you can just buy the skin but in something like Overwatch you get to buy a loot box with the chance of getting a skin or more currency to buy a skin which stupid in my opinion. I’d rather pay for a skin then for the chance of getting a skin.
I would have to agree with your view on loot boxes, but I would have to say that the way COD Modern Warfare does it is not that bad. I say this because the loot boxes yo buy come with a 100% chance of getting everything.
i agree with buying things in a free to play game. i play arknights on my mobile, fell in love with the game so i brought the monthly card to support it,( around £3.80 a month). The game itself is a gacha ( kinda like a loot box) where you get random operators using in game currencys ( 1 of which you can earn up to a certain amount a week). i like that on one hand as i use what i get given, and that makes it fun for me. but the amount of people who spend 100s of pounds a month on it ( known as whales) and channels which go OMG ONLY 70 PULLS TO GET SKADI IM SO LUCKY AND HYPE make me want to stab them with there own ribs. i got skadi, use her in 99% of all missions, but i got her simply using in game stuff i farmed, no credit card involved but the amount of people who go OMG I SO GOOD CAUSE IM RICH makes me want to puke. im a minimum wage worker who rents a flat and i know my limits and how to handle my finances, but i can how stupidly easy it is for people to spend way beyond there means on a mobile game
We need more also as somone that was trading to join the games industry it's an awful place with diversity quotas so if you don't fit what they want they jist won't look at wjatf you can do and will esely replace you or make your life hell with extra work or hour changes,
