William Duvall is an excellent add. The band has no issue, and he adds a different, but fitting dimension to the band. If you don’t like him, don’t waste your time listening to all their new stuff. That said, you’d be missing out on some great music, as they definitely have a great chemistry.
Dark Hymns From The Cold North William’s band was Jerry’s touring band for Degradation Trip as opposed to the Boggy Depot Tour which was Alice In Chains at times with a different bassist and rhythm guitarist
Awesome, I did not know that. I love that album, I've had it since it came out. I just read that Jerry is working on a new solo album, so, i can't wait for that.
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth it is gonna be glorious, boggy depot is a dope album and degradation trip is a masterpiece, cannot wait for a new Jerry album the man always delivers, absolute genius musician
There are a lot of idiots commenting here. Good job the true AIC fans are better people. I’ve been with this band since day one and I really really love William. William DuVall is incredible and I am soooo glad he enables us to still experience this truly great band.
@@RaimundoNonato-rv8wpWhy? Why does Duvall suck? What cause he ain't Staley? And believe me I am a Staley guy. He was a major influence on me vocally along with Plant and numerous others but shitting on Duvall y'all are just doing that cause he ain't layne. HE AINT TRYING TO BE LAYNE. This is like when Bon Scott died. They got a new singer and re-invented themselves. Brian wasn't bon but he is still good in his own way. What? Should Duvall do heroin and throw it all away to be accepted? Cause that is what layne did...... He threw away his talent, his friendships, and ultimately his life. Duvall is alright y'all are just being ridiculous. It is sad VERY EXTREMELY sad but he threw his fucking whole life away.... Losing Demri really fucked Layne up sure. But life goes on. Life doesn't stop for any of us. Don't shit on this man just because he's not Layne Staley. Actually what I LOVE ABOUT HIM is he doesn't try to sound like Layne. He broughr something new and original to the table. Maybe u are one of those guys that wanted a carbon copy of Layne but I'm not cause there's only ONE LAYNE.
I saw AIC yesterday. With Wiliam as the "old" Frontman - man ... this guy fits like a glove. Thank You for the music. Glad that AIC still performs and rocks solid!
He can’t replace Layne and he doesn’t try to, he is being him. Being is all that is needed because the guy has a fucking awesome voice! His solo acoustic album and his old band “Come With the Fall” are great works and damn his voice is so crisp and powerful! The man has one of the best voices I’ve heard! In particular, his solo album really captures his voice!
He’s been on the band longer than layne was… he’s great in his own way.. sad some fans are so stuck in the past that they can’t appreciate how talented and gifted will is… saw this band twice on the black gives way to blue tour… solid band
Just saw AIC last night in Seattle 9/20/19. Great vocals. Great show. I was transported back to the 1990’s when I heard “Would”. WD kicks ass on honoring Layne. Great guitarist and vocalist. Dude has pipes.
I really love the Duvall era. Think of it this way...would you rather they disappear and go the way of Nirvana or continue to put out great albums? That’s the thing that really makes it work for me. They’re still putting out killer albums...albums that would also sound GREAT if Layne was on them. I mean for real...picture 1992 Layne singing on “stone”. It would be unbelievable...but Duvall holds it the FUCK down. Look, Dirt and JoF are probably in my top 20 albums of all time and I listen to a lottttt of music. Jerry is still showing those same cards as a songwriter and I think he should be encouraged to continue for as long as possible...
AIC deserved to experience the longevity that other bands got the chance to enjoy. They had so much more to offer - I'm glad to see them reinvent themselves with a soulful new sound!❤
I saw them this past August too. Long time AIC fan, first time seeing them. Love Layne but also loved seeing them live first time with Duvall. Show was freaking amazing!!!
He is a natural rockstar oozing with talent from riff writing, songwriting, vocals, and stage presence. Wonder if people know it’s possible to appreciate Layne and Willy?
I saw AiC on the Black gives way to Blue tour, they were fucking awesome. Mike Inez's bass tone was like a punch in the guts, Sean and Jerry were fucking great and William absolutely on top form. The whole gig was amazing, A looking in view was probably my favourite song of the night, its such a badass song. But in saying that they played the fuck out of the whole set, a mix between electric and acoustic. What a night, Glasgow Barrowlands 2009 i think. Long live AiC!!!
Let's think about this it's probably the hardest thing to do in music to step into the front man roll and take over for one of the greatest rock singers of all time I don't think he gets enough credit for that and I also think he doesn't give a crap that he doesn't get the credit for that he seems like a cool dude have seen them many times live with will and he's taken over graciously
Obviously nobody can replace Layne. Surely William can't. But I'll be damned if he isn't the best possible choice as a new frontman that AiC made, dude sings and plays like a beast.
Will is a good vocalist but sorry but my opinion is alice in chains died when layne died and the final nail in the coffin was when original bass player Mike starr passed away in 2011
Seems like a cool dude but honestly they should’ve just let aic die with layne and start something new, he just doesn’t have the same intensity that aic songs require
It annoys me that people keep bringing up Layne when talking about Will. Obviously Layne is gone and should be remember with his music but seriously... Let it go. Ask Will questions without making it seem like he's beneath Layne or something.
I still wished Phil would have been the lead singer for Alice. His voice was really good at that time. And he probably would have kept it really good too.
king.of.msdness3332....and Mike starr when Layne died part of Alice in chains died for sure but when Mike died in 2011 to me that was the final nail in the coffin for Alice in chains
I've never heard this guy with Alice in Chains or anywhere else....nor will I...I refuse to hear him doing Layne's songs...especially Love Hate Love. I understand they weren't ready to put Alice in Chains to rest, and they certainly have every right to handle the situation as they see fit, but I'm in the no Layne no Chains camp. Sorry.
DuVall is a good singer & a very professional person but he's no charismatic enough (poor stage presence) + he has a very very very small role in writing the songs too (in AIC). The band "Comes with the Fall" was his natural ambient. Just my opinion.
William Duvall is an excellent add. The band has no issue, and he adds a different, but fitting dimension to the band. If you don’t like him, don’t waste your time listening to all their new stuff. That said, you’d be missing out on some great music, as they definitely have a great chemistry.
People forget that Duvall and Cantrell have known each other since Cantrell's Degradation Trip tour in 2001.
Yeah William on the tour did good performing Alice songs as well as Jerry’s solo songs like Cut You In and My Song
Or, they just didnt know, like me. Haha. How was William involved with the Degradation Trip tour?

Raimundo Nonato no he honestly nails each note pretty well, he’s pretty good at it
Some him in concert. It certainly is a different flavor but he was great really loved it

If they aren’t trying to replace layne than why not just make a new band
You go Will
William Duvall’s band “Comes with the Fall” was great! The guy fits like a glove.
Love and miss Layne. That said William Duvall fits the band and the music he writes for AIC proves that this guy is not just some mic holder.
He’s been on the band longer than layne was… he’s great in his own way.. sad some fans are so stuck in the past that they can’t appreciate how talented and gifted will is… saw this band twice on the black gives way to blue tour… solid band
Nope got that right can’t even give it a chance it seems disrespectful
They went to top tier band to just a solid band, who cares if he’s been with them longer, one of Layne album is better than the 5+ he’s done with them

Layne was the best but it's good they keeping it alive and eternal...
Duvall is a powerhouse. Not only he does an amazing job with the AIC classics, the new material - with AIC and solo - is awesome.
No one could replace Layne but I'm perpetually surprised at how close Duvall has come.... He's been a fantastic addition.
William was the perfect singer for AIC to continue doing shows and eventually another album. He is a nice humble person with great presence on stage.
Nope Brendan maier was, William sounds nothing like layne
this guy have amazing vocals. and stage presence
Dude kicks ass. Say no more !
Mr. Duvall is too cool. Excellent singer. 👍
props 2dude for keeping his orginal band 2gether while doing alice in chains. his band comes with the fall is damn good, thick, heavy, & trippy

Yawn.
And here I thought it was Slash singing 🤔
@Figueroa Rury Laquinta Right? Some people. I was going to comment on her boobies being a distraction, but I feared the #MeToo wrath.

A great addition to a nearly dead Alice in chains. William brings harmonizing vocals with a 2 guitar attack that helps Jerry tremendously im sure.

Is the entire interview for listening pleasure anywhere?
Yo , WD , thank you sir 🌹⭐️
