Ha ha I remember when you told me off for saying my painting was " rubbish" I was only painting for a few months lol ! You are such a good teacher ! WOW! It amazes me the steps you take from a blank canvas to the beautiful, finished painting. I keep learning and learning. "Preserve the bowl shadow" I wrote it down! David, you are just such an exceptional teacher! Your videos make my day. I gain so much from your repetition, hearing your thoughts as you go along, watching the paintings come alive layer by layer and of course being reminded that painting should be fun. When I get stuck, I say to myself "it's just some paint & a board, paint what your painting needs, have confidence etc. I feel like you're not far away & encouraging me on with your voice in my head. Hi David! Your western: "Reflections" is beautiful. The color of the frame is perfect. I'm looking forward to this floral video. I'll add some blathering with an edit once I've watched it all the way through. JV --- Okay --- Blathering take two ---- These peachy roses are beautiful -- and the lesson is really good. I'm retired now, but I worked as a NJ Certified high school teacher for 25 years -- and did a bunch of professional development on 'learning styles' -- even taught it. I very much appreciate what a talented teacher you are. So..... Yes -- I wrote it down: ""Preserve the bowl shadow." And thank you for demonstrating how to add the shadow back in if we accidentally paint over it with a petal. Those demo's are valuable to us. Enjoyed watching how the addition of Yellow Oxide to the shadow sinks it so naturally into the back. About using the leaves as "bridges" -- I know you've talked about that in other videos -- but I always appreciate it when you remind us of these concepts. We beginners really do benefit from repetition. I think of you as a mentor -- and when you took some time at the end of your video today to encourage us and wish us well with our painting -- I actually kind of choked up a little. You're a gem.
