My grandma raised me and is the only person who ever showed love towards me. She is now in her late 70’s and health is declining. She loves yellow roses and I’ve tried and tried to paint one but it never works. I pray that I can learn from this, so that I may paint her a beautiful painting of yellow roses before she passes. Thank you 🙏
Tisha Duke Hardin bless you sweetie. God will guide you. Relax, Read psalms and let Him speak to you. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Paint from your heart. Keep in mind what he does in 30 minutes might take us 2 hrs...lol
I’ d like to join BUT the only thing I can bring is desire, your brushes and your wonderful paint. Love using both. Self taught no formal training or knowledge of values.
All you need is desire to learn. We have a new wonderful group on MeWe.com where everyone is posting their photos and we are all sharing and helping. Great group. Look for Heritage Acrylic Artists on MeWe.com
Sir you have been my savior my life giving me a positive look. God sent you my way. Never cease to amaze how beautiful these pictures are. As I've said before I am blind and disabled I have detail vision. My son and mom made sure I have all your paints books and brushes. As you said in one of your classes or in your book it gets being scared to use paint yes that would be me terrified. Because I don't have any money and so I get worried if I'm going to use too much of something. However I don't have your MDF boards but my daughter got me plenty of canvas so it's just a matter of figuring it out and working with that as opposed to the MDF. Bless her heart and her husband for making sure that I have something positive that I do everyday and I thank you sir for your classes and for the beautiful roses. For those of you who do not know what detail vision is my eyes do not censor light I have no peripheral vision very telescope. I'm unable to drive and my home is just like a blind person you keep everything exactly in the same place. Thank you I'm here I go I'm nervous
Hi Nida, You can do it! Great paintings come with practice and confidence. I am so happy you are inspired by my designs and find the information useful. I suggest that you lay out your colors in the same order each time. Soon, you will always know where each one is and you can focus more on your roses. Please reach out to our studio if you have questions along the way. Good luck!
I love your casual style, its a wonderfull way of painting roses, I love your brushstrokes, both with fingers and brushes - sp wonderfully catchingthe life and light of roses
David Jansen you make it look so easy. I just don’t have your paints just regular acrylics and oils. Maybe soon I’ll invest in your paints maybe I’ll be hooked after these 30 days. Lol🌹
I have been watching you all the time and wish I could be able to paint like you one day. Now I am so glad that you are teaching all the techniques. Thank you so much.
Grazie caro David! Sono perfino commosso ed emozionata perché fra un po inizio con la lezione che tu gentilmente tieni disponibile. Non tutti sono cosi altruisti. Grazie di cuore.
I just came upon your channel, I’ve watched your videos all day. Love your technique! I think I’m going to try the 30 roses a day challenge! Wish me luck! Oh! and thanks for such great instruction. 😊 🎨 🥀
David, when I finish the 100 roses practice I most assuredly will share it!and give you the credit it’s a big IF, tho’. I love the paints and brushes. My daughters ask what I wanted for birthday without stuttering I said his paint and paint. even if I don’t have any knowledge to understand those big words you use as I have zero n formal training. I love to sit get lost in the feeling the way only art can give me. Being 74 doesn’t make me an artist. Thank you for the amazing lessons you so generously give us
Oh my dear heart... I've just stumbled across this channel and have been watching you painting roses and saying I would love to paint roses like this... and then I find 30 minute roses in 30 days - 30 roses!!! And with such easy to follow instructional videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now to clear my table and prepare to paint 🎨 ☺️ 😀
I Paint since when i was child...i didn't study but ihave done a course of porcellain for many years i sold some of my pictures and i found your lessons so beautiful💓
What a great idea..30 roses for 30 days! It will surely make me confident painting roses. Your building a skill for everyone to enjoy. What a way to share your talent to everyone. I already started my first rose earlier. I will again make another one tom. This time, with your video on my side so i cam step by step copy it. Thank you very much once again sir David.
Mr Jansen your work is absolutely marvelous!!! Thank you so much for sharing your awesome techniques. For many years I’ve been painting realism but now I would like to try something new... I like your techniques a lot and the ranges of tones you make. I’m trying one rose painting a day and it’s amazing!!! Blessings.
I stumbled upon this channel when I was looking for how for how to paint roses, and I really like your teaching style. Very quiet, practical, calming, taking the time. Just unlike many other youtube videos. Thank you for sharing.

Hi David... like you always say, if your trying something new and your not feeling a little frustrated your not really learning. Well I spent a few hours today trying to paint a rose and realized my brushes weren’t really ideal for what I was trying to accomplish. I needed your chiseled flat brushes so I order the your intermediate 6 brush set with palette knife. Looking forward to receiving them so I can have the right brushes to eventually create beautiful roses. Wish I was able to show you my very first attempt at painting a rose. Like many others I was using too much white from the onset LOL
Thank you so much Cheryll. Yes the tools and the paint make a difference. These roses take practice and even longer to figure out if you start changing what I am using. You will notice a difference. Thank you so much! 😊
David Jansen I had a question about some you said in one of your videos. I was wondering what you meant when you said Alizarin Crimson is a fugitive pigment? And can anyone join your group? I was figuring is was for online and in class students...
Hi Cheryll, Fugitive means the color will fade away under sunlight or UV light. Sometimes within 6 months depending on the color. The color is actually PR83 which is its chemical index name. If you google that you will see it is a terrible color. You will not find any chemist or colorist reccomending the color. Most artists that use it don't know how bad it is. They use it because it is an historical pigment. That said, there are additives the some manufacturers use to help keep the color around longer, but no many add those. Click this link and scroll down to PR83 www.handprint.com/HP/WCL/waterr.html#:~:text=Naphthol%20AS%20scarlet%20PR9%20is,primarily%20used%20in%20printing%20inks. I have a couple groups. The Artist Network is on our JansenArtOnline.com It is for my online students to post pics and ask for critiques. The facebook group Academies of Decorative Art is open to any artist. Thanks!
