Dear David, thank you so much. I am a fan of your work but I thougth that I could never learn to paint as you do. I painted a lot of flowers for years. But in a decorative style (as I now understood seeing this video). I started with the 30 day roses last week. Now I came across this video and I am so glad I found it! I love your way of teaching. Not only seeing how you paint but also the things you say. Thank ou so much

Its so interesting and fun to get these understandings of how to play with all the very nuanced possibilities. And obviously you need to to learn to use your finger to soften the edges.

David.... as a beginner I have watched video after video tutorials on painting a rose. Although they were all very well done, I felt I was not getting something about it. I have tried and tried to paint a rose and was beginning to feel my 8 year old grandson could paint one better than me. The way you explained the concept of positioning the petal and how you paint your petals is exactly what I've needed to hear. I can't wait to get started on my next rose! Thank you for sharing with me this technique that took you so long to figure out. Now, I need go get busy with my rose! :)
