I'm an Israeli Jew and that's probably the best version of this song I heard in my life. Literally brings me to tears, every single time. We love you Georgian people❤
One of those songs that are so beautiful, they are hard to ruin. Of course, I love my father's version most. Listen to Chimney Sweep/Sam Hall by AP, the Doubliner!
A somewhat milder variant of an English traditional (Jack Hall) who was hanged at Tyburn in 1707. In the 1840s the song was rewritten and performed on stage by music hall singer C.W. Ross who changed the title. The Irish Descendants recorded it on three albums: Misty Morning Shore in 1991; So Far So Good: The Best Of The Irish Descendants in 1999; and We Are The Irish Descendants in 2004. Thanks for sharing. :-)
No but i forgot about this one, I used to have this one on the same CD. but the version i was talking about wasnt acapella. This is a beautiful version too please leave it on here. i just favorited it. Keep looking your close as close could be. I get right excited wh
It's not the "original" Irish Descendants", but Con O'Brien is still singing lead on this. The original Descendants broke up some years back, Darcy Broderick and some others left, but Con kept the name, and carried on with some new faces/voices. To me, they will never be the same without Darcy, but great harmony still.
They all played together here in Newfoundland for Churchill park square concert august 14th 2022. Wicked show can’t be beat. They played this tune with all the other acts right at the end.
my mate sang this, I've tried to find an official one. I think he put it in himself, between the coothill verse and up the ladder I did grope. it was. 'I saw Jenny in the crowd, I saw Jenny in the crowd, I saw Jenny in the crowd and she wore a long black shoud. hey Jenny ain'y you proud, how I'll die, now Jenny aint you proud how I'll die
Klaes Ashford brought me here, brought me here. Cause the Expanse is the greatest hard scifi of all time, of all time.
John Ward I was sick, and nigh to death, Tilly go, Tilly go.

@@QuranicIslam WELL SAID!
One of the finest unaccompanied pieces recorded. Been a personal favourite for many years.

Georgian? They're from Newfoundland! 😂

We control the land anyway without the bummberling god forsaking mongos knowing it
First heard this song preformed by Frank Tovey, and whereas that version is great for wreaking havoc, this one is just heartwarming. Love it
Beautiful Harmony i seen these gentlemen out West in 2012 WOW AMAZING MUSIC
Just seen them last night. Amazing
just heard THe Longest Hall's version. Amazing!!!

My dad used to sing me this song when I couldn’t sleep or when I was crying

@gdgest Interesting reading, thanks!
I agree.
It is the Irish decendents
i've been in that place where they are. just cant remember the name. it's in downtown
st. john's
George street
That's just outside The Duke of Duckworth, though there have been a couple of other bars that opened onto those stairs over the years
Johnny Cash brought me here...
Loler.
Lol.
Put this song and "Peter Street" on the same album, do more like it and call it 'Irish Descendants a capella Hits'. I'd buy it in a heartbeat

Johnny cash is kinda similar
"20 pounds in store..." Not to far from the truth.
Doesn't sound bad considering. However, I lost intertest in the Irish Descendants with the earliest lineup change; I think when they added a drum set.
Say goodbye to your channel
What does that mean?
It's jack hall not sam hall
+Jack Hall Actually, I believe he says, "Sam Hall".
The original folk song is called Jack hall
Tell me about it
Yes the original but even the rewrite Sam Hall was mid 1800's I believe? I do prefer the Jack Hall Story and song.
Not the same band without larry martin and ronnie power
