      I am so sorry for your loss, especially as he was so young. I am a 51 year old UK male and I was lucky enough to experience this album when it came out in the laye 70's as a kid. I know it so well, most of the words too. My dad had a high end hifi and headphone setup back then, so I had an amazing experience which stays with me today.

    One of my most treasured posessions is this album mounted in a picture frame on the wall behind me. This was the story of my youth and why I came to love science fiction. That led to a lifelong love of technology, then a career, a wife and children. Now in my late 50's I look back at what this album gave me, while I look at the exact album that I played in my youth, owned and played frequently by my parents, now mounted on the wall behind me. For my parerents, "because you're not here".

      To all the heartbroken;
      We all voluntarily incarnated here on earth, to experience a disconnect, a godless life learning experience... perhaps as a necessary contrast from our previous heavenly existence!
      Perhaps try transpose the feeling of this song of; the (temporary) loss we feel here on earth, to; the forgotten belonging/Love/ Homeliness of our previous Home in heaven. Even if you are Atheist,
      Look-up NDE experiences & learn what they see beyond the "veil' learn again where we Came from/ & are going back to!, you will see through a new lens!.

      Well, I'd dispute that, but I know where you're coming from! Have you heard 'Like a stone'? The lead singer, Chris Cornell, committed suicide at the age of 39! Then there's 'while my guitar gently weeps' by George Harrison.
      So many great songs from that era! Where's all the genius talent gone?

We got her a week after my husband and I married in October of '92 and almost exactly 2 years later she went missing and was found dead a week later. My heart was shattered. She loved playing in the leaves and being out doors,, exploring and all. It's been several years and I still miss my little Surely Bo Birley.

      Im with you on this. I was a similar age [8yrs!]. It was the first storybook cassette I listened to. Yes, it was a concept album, but to an 8yr old it was a story with music. I was mesmerised. I listened to it with one of my brothers and we were both silent in his bedroom for the whole time. One of the best moments of my childhood memory. Being transported into a world of fear then hope then triumph!
