- Ivan has been very busy in the Shed focussing on the Hall Scott engine. Yesterday he went to London for the 96 Club Meet in Belgravia with Suzie in the AC 289 and thought he would share a bit of footage with his followers. Many roads in London have 20mph speed restrictions which is quite a challenge/nuisance.
Thanks to James Mann for some of the photos of the Cobra on Ainsdale Beach
Oh man! Those times when you opened her up a little 🤌. Thanks you two.
Keep living the dream Ivan and Suzie! Best wishes, Dean.
Fabulous car! 289 the best looking of all variants to my eyes! Engine to match!
Here in the States everyone goes for the 427. I have always thought the 289 looks just right.
I agree! It'd be the 289 for me; lightest engine, best balance relatively speaking, least overall weight.
shame about the rain but what a trip wet or dry , too good to miss especially in such a beautiful classic , thank you Suzie for filming and editing and thanks to Ivan for a lovely drive
No ULEZ!!! 😀 But 60's wipers. 😕 And gear ratios that never envisaged a 20 mph limit!
I used my Healey 3000. Everyday. Hard top in winter, never hood up in summer. It rained, just drove fast enough that the rain went over your head. The only problem was the first set of traffic lights you hit😂
Ivan it's 20....IVAN 20. Oh bollocks. 😂😂😂😂
WOW what a Car and what a pair thank you both loved the trip.
John's back!
Hello from Alberta Canada again. What a great surprised to get home and see this video! The two of you are right on enjoying life to the fullest!! Cheers
Fantastic Cobra,what a sound.
I’m sorry Ivan but your test was faulty as you performed it in the rain in March. I’m afraid you’ll just have to repeat it a few more times.
Yes - quite a few more times 😂
spectacular motor car
You have my sympathy Ivan, driving that noisy car with Suzy at your side nattering on and taking your attention off the road, it must have been an a rather tiresome chore, next time, purely in the spirit of kindness kindly allow me to do take on the task in your stead, I would not require any payment of course, my only payment would be the knowledge that I'd done something to help a fine senior gentleman..
Well, somebody has to take the old girl out for a spin every once in while. I mean of course the Cobra 😇Ivan just took one for the team.
wonderful sounds from that 289………love the red!…..simple JOY.
"You can't beat a V8". I agree, but they can become addictive. One is good, two are better....
Oh you poor, poor man. How do you cope? In the words of MP 'you, lucky, lucky b.... Another great Vid :)
Let us know if you get a speeding camera ticket in the post!!
What a wonderful sound!
The early ones are the best looking, thanks for sharing
It's just a slightly damp day. Perfect for practicing controlling the drifts. ;)
You need a special license to drive that in the rain!
I can't get over you guys having to drive on the wrong side of the road.
Looks like my old Frogeye sprint circuit just off the Fulham Road.
I will never get tired of that sound. You can't beat a V8.
Lovely, lovely car.
Suzies squeek on acceleration is very cute.
Made my day Ivan, per usual. Lovely English weather.
Being an ExPat there are a few things I miss about England (not much) the weather is definitely not one of them.
Sounds just like my 347 tiger. Fantastic. It is hard going 20 with the stock gearing. Unusual to see a RHD cobra.
And even more like my Majestic Major Spl.
Great to see a real classic being driven in those conditions, not just a trailer Queen then, I see Suzie wants her cars to be used, not just polished.
I just like hanging out with Ivan and I let him drive to unleash his inner teenager !
Yes, her cars should be used and not saved for the next guy.
@@hughchamberlain5018 No, you can save them for the next guy, but use them and look after them for the next guy, they must be run, but looked after.
I could say you two are like chalk and cheese, but no!!, you are two people that have a firm belief in your own opinion, and Ivan is a 'one off', and I suspect you are your own person as well,@@suziepilkington5600
Cars are for using. Letting Ivan drive it is a perfect way to detect any little issues/ rumblings, which most people wouldn't notice
Lovely small block ford . ''Hey little cobra 🐍'' like the old song goes 😘
👍Excellent
Feckin luv y’a passion
I love that my Watsonian Sidecar uses the same boot latches as the original Cobra... I know this as I had to replace mine and that is what Watsonian clued me into...
They sure don't have any...even they moved on a wee bit...
Not sure which looked better ! Must have been a blast. 😎
I love these two. What a pair! What a car...(and the rest..)
Bloody enjoyed that Ivan
3:25 when the rain drips in - perfect! ❤
more shots of suzie please and where did John go on his holiday?
"You can't beat a V-8!" (unless it's a V-12!)
The last time I was in central London, the most interesting car I saw was a Rover P6!
Ivan and Suzie - totally authentic.
The Ford V-8 is sounding right on song! Cheers, Paul.
I 've never seen a Cobra with a removable hard top. Cool.
best - Shed,👋
They have these great roads in the UK. 😂😂😂😂
Nice
Ivan has eaten too many vitamins and he's pushing like old times 😁😁😁😁😁
Lucky bastard Ivan! And runs cooler than a MGA ! ,,,,Love,,,DUBS,,,,,
Oh wow what a sweet car
An old man, a nice chickee, and a Cobra. Gotta luv it.
Nice ride, thanks .
Good old Ivan !!!! 👍
👍🇦🇺
Well! It is over 20 years since I drove in London, but where is all the traffic? It looks deserted now, is that a result of the new charge system keeping everyone away? Chris B.
it was early Sunday morning on the way in - then on the way back Sunday lunchtime so traffic relatively light
Your a lucky man Ivan and that Suzy is gorgeous.
Suzie's father, Stephen, is a famous Ferrari collector. He even had a 250 GTO at one stage. He used to thrash it in races but I believe they're rather valuable now.

I'm loving it. It gives me hope haha.
Lucky devils!
Nice, but why didn't you stop at the car meeting ?
we did but we were too busy chatting to take any footage of the other cars.....
I figured you attended the meet, but didn't take or edited out the footage.
@@BradfordtheEclectic it was raining for most of the morning, the camera was in the car, we failed to get any footage whatsoever !
What a great team👏
Enjoyed the ride! I must say however hardly the weather conditions for cooling system test, Rome in July would serve as a more definitive test.
Get your point, but sadly it isn't July and we're not in Italy....
@@suziepilkington5600 Pithy👏
SO jealous...
Smashing!
That’s beautiful what a dream of car, in and out sounds fantastic when you lay into it and open up those secondaries keeps the fuel goin old of course, Ivan only driving proper.
note if you have one of those Pertronix electric ignitions BIN IT and go back to original breaker points as pertronix will fail
You should have done the old $100 bill on the windshield trick in the 20 mile per hour zone !
😍 👍
Bit of a Damp Squid day ay ! 👎👌👌
Squib: a miniature explosive device used in a wide range of industries, from special effects to military applications. Hence 'Damp Squib'-a dud. 🙂 But I'm sure driving that car made it worth it!
@@johnrussell5245 we always have a laugh
@@johnrussell5245 Squid on the other hand do relish a high degree of dampness hence the success of the day.😏
It is very quiet compared with our 1965 289 Mk.2. I drove ours up from its home in the south of France to Evian les Bains for the 2009 Coupe des Alpes and after that and 4 days on the rally, I was near deaf. They are lovely cars and it is difficult to believe that something with those wide tyres can have such light steering. It uses an MGB steering rack.
My ears were ringing after a 100 mile round trip....
❤
What a beauty!
