Love the videos! Thinking about getting a Havanese after my Chihuahua recently passed. Seems like they share many similar qualities, good and bad. I say that cause it leads me down a familiar path so that should help. Only thing I really worry about is the fact that me and my girlfriend are gone for 8-9 hours a day for work. But our Chihuahua was used to that so she actually found comfort in hanging out in her crate until we got home. Wonder if a Havanese would be okay with that over time?
Yeah they should be fine but not sure how you’d go with toilet training. I’m home all day with my Havanese and at 1yo she’s still not trained. I guess you have to make sure you’d keep yours in a crate. Mine started hating the crate so I took her out
We want/need to fly across country to see new grand daughter, have you any tips or experience taking Havanese on flight? We feel sure she would do better being with us than staying at pup daycare🤷♀️🙏🐶thanks for any tip!
Our only experience flying with a dog was when we picked up Pistachio is another state and flew her home. She was such a small puppy at that point that it was pretty easy, but the mental stress was actually the worst part just expecting chaos at any moment! I would say the best thing is to have a soft carrier with a top opening so they can see you easily when they're under the seat in front of you. If I were to do it again, I'd bring some puzzle toys to keep her occupied at times (like kongs). They say the dog is supposed to stay in the carrier at all times but in my experience they're pretty lax when you're waiting in the airport terminal if you take your pup out to cuddle or stretch it's legs. If your dog is nervous around crowds, be prepared for some anxiety. Consider putting a shirt that smells like you in their travel carrier too. Also most airports have a potty section for dogs, but make sure your dog is up to date on their shots for that.
I have a 13 week old havanese. Adopted her at about 11 weeks old. I started potty and kennel training on day 1. Problem is that it’s been raining off and on the whole time. I had a glimmer of hope the other day when she ran outside and took herself potty, but then the next day, she REFUSED to potty outside and it wasn’t even raining :/ my girl is a hot mess lol but I love her to pieces
I have three Havaneses, 2 females and one male. My male is only 7 months old and I am having a difficult time potty training him. My girls were trained very easily. This pup is continuously peeing in random places, I am losing hope and dont know what to do.
Pistachio was the same way. When she was still going through her potty training, we’d go out with an umbrella with her. Wasn’t fun, believe me! But now that’s she’s trained, she can go out on her own and pee quick and come back in to avoid too much rain.
You have awesome videos.
Love the water bottle idea! What kind is it? Where did you get it?
We got ours in store at Petsmart! It was advertised as FOR dogs, surprisingly!

Do you still have an area of the yard fenced off for toileting or does Pistachio go to the correct spot on her own now?
We don’t have a potty nook cornered off anymore. P goes anywhere she wants in our yard - we don’t mind!

13 weeks is still really young to be fully potty trained! She’ll figure it out with time :)
@@backtobreeality thanks for the encouragement!

What do you do when its raining moderate to hard outside? My puppy hates the rain unless its a light drizzle and like today it's raining ALL DAY.
