Love the video and the training tips. We have a 10 wk old Havanese and I'm going use your tips to help work with him. I would love another video on the "fun" commands, especially the "jump through the hoop" one. I bet my puppy would love that trick. Thanks!

Nice! “Leave it” is one I think I’ll teach early too. We have kids and they drop their food all the time lol I think this one will be a life saver - literally!

Great advice! We get to have our Havenese Rescue us in a week! He is 3 yrs old but seems very smart and trainable!

Great video. She's so smart! I needed a reminder that hand gestures are important too. I'm getting a Brussels griffon in the fall. I am a little bit worried bc he'll be so tiny! It'll be easy to over feed him. Kibble is a good idea.
I like any training videos or puppy videos you upload. I have an irrational fear my puppy will run away from me. So the recall training is nice to see in action.

These are very helpful and I love the name Pistachio! We have a Havanese named Cannoli and they seem to be close in age. I will say that I became lax in the training after she got the first few commands and this is a good reminder that I probably need to go back and do some reinforcement training on a few of these. Thanks for sharing!

@@mikaylapoon7540 sounds like she loves her mama very much already. The crying when you leave is normal at this early stage. Can you practice some separation while you’re still home to monitor (1) when she stops crying (if she self soothes after 5-10 min that’s a win) and (2) experiment with different distractions, like puzzle toys?

Super helpful video. I see you let Pistachio out by herself- Any concerns about eating sticks, rocks or attacks from large birds of prey or coyotes? Our 5 month old cannot be in our fully fenced yard because he wants to eat every stick and plant regardless of his excelling in the 'Leave it" command. He has no health issues according to the vet and is not nutrient deficient. Just loves those sticks and prefers over multiple chew toys.

We don’t have any predators where I live to worry about, thankfully. Pistachio used to eat everything when she was 5 months old too! They outgrow it, mostly. She’ll still eat grass occasionally but not enough to be concerned about.

How do you keep your puppy from jumping up at visitors? I love your video on these commands. I have begun doing them with my shih tzu and she's catching on quickly. I have an new puppy coming to me on October 1, 2023 so I want to be ahead of the game with basic training commands and potty training as well.

Thanks so much! We actually have not mastered the no jumping thing. It really comes down to setting the expectation to not jump even when we come home, and Ben and I really haven’t put work into that because we enjoy her greeting us too much. If you want to start strong, don’t acknowledge the puppy until all four paws are on the ground, and then encourage guests to do the same. I’ve seen it be very effective for other pup parents!
