Which is what I expect a good keeper to do. :)
This is the only time ive ever seen a male kill a female wasnt expecting that but just goes to show anything can happen at any time sorry for your loss dave but thankyou for the video!
I looked for a video like this for years because once i saw a video where the male looked as if he was about to whoop some ass and i thought it mightve been possible
Had this happen to me with the same species Dave, these are known for sometimes taking the female, it's suggested that the female just isn't absolutely ready and the male senses it
Oh dear, poor pretty lady, she didn't stand a chance. Lovely Mrs C.L. are you ok, as the film kept moving up and down on right side🤔have a watch; at the beginning and end? Very interesting but so sad for me, thank you Dave and beautiful Mrs C.L.😘💓🌺🌻💐
Almost Same exact behavior I had this year with my wolf spiders, my male ate the female...went straight in for the kill. Both had been fed previously, also. No courtship playing, just bam! Jumped on her , flipped her over and punctured her abdomen, fluids started dripping so I didn't try to separate either. Isn't this quite strange... usually it's the male to be eaten, I agree. As always, Great video of your narration!
I think it safe to say maybe then from this and the video if spiders similar to this species do no start courtship signs but start to...stalk. it could be potentially early red flag to be on guard and perhaps consider separating early before they contact. That is what I learned from watching this. Very useful video and input.
Oh man, what a terrible outcome. I've raised one of these since a tiny baby into a large mature female, and I'd be devastated if something like that happened to her. Really strange behaviour from the male!
Thank you for not "sanitizing" your videos. Telling/showing the real events is very preferable to the "Disney approach" some channels take. So sorry for your loss of that beautiful female.
Camera Lady, great angles on this attack. I suppose they are not as predictable as first thought. Nature is brutal as we've seen with some female Tarantulas, thank you for your videos, I am still hooked.
Hi Dave, I've only just found your channel and have been catching up on all of your videos, but I just wanted to say thank you for showing us the good and the bad parts of spider keeping. I'm sorry about your lovely female, it's such a shame and I hope she didn't suffer too much but these things sadly happen in nature. As someone who has crippling arachnophobia, I've been surprised by how much I have enjoyed your videos, and getting to know the various behaviours of these wonderful creatures has really helped me to calm my fears. I love how gentle they can be, especially during pairing, drumming away to each other and speaking their own little language. Anyway, thank you again for giving us a glimpse into the lives of these fascinating beasties, you have no idea how much you have helped me!
I’ve been watching Dave for a while and I read the comments religiously. There are so many of his fans that have arachnophobia and every single one of them says the same thing. The appreciation you all have for showing all the different sides of spiders that help you come over your phobia. I think it’s wonderful.
That’s what makes your channel so worth watching Dave, it’s the warts and all approach that makes your videos. You warned those that needed to be warned that it would result in the death of one of the spiders. But it’s the fact that you yourself are questioning why it resulted as it did. In the spider world as in our own it’s not all roses round the cottage door. I really don’t have any knowledge at all about spiders. Only what your channel has helped me learn and face my fear. Perhaps he was confused by her approach towards him. Or he was hungry? But it is very interesting to see that it’s not just the females that kill their mates. Great filming as always, and looking forward to the next video from you and your camera lady.
I love how your willing to share everything with us the way you teach as you entertain is amazing thank you so much for sharing. Love the channel Dave and Camara Lady can't wait for the next one 🧡

Nature at its finest, you never know what's going to happen. Appreciate you showing even the imperfect moments, all you can do is introduce them to a situation that would normally happen and wait for an outcome.
Very interesting behavior indeed. Pretty hard to see the female struggling like that. Never thought i'd feel sorry for a spider to be honest. Crazy how life works. Thanks for another great video. Have a great day you and camera lady, take care. 👌👌👍
Dear Dave, I would like to thank you for your very interesting videos! He was too big in comparison to her, wasn't he? I had to double check, but that's what I think. Is it the same for female true spiders? And his fangs didn’t appear to adjust or move at all following the initial bite. That first bite was a true kill shot. For his fallen brothers, I reckon 🤣
