Important note on Destined by Fate strat: It can not blank a damage from a dev wound. Since they are not allowed to take a save against a dev wound, they never fail a save.

    Awesome video!
Is there a rules reference other than the commentary document about using something like guide from reserves? I’ve heard conflicting things about abilities that include any kind of measurement not being usable in that way, even on the models own unit.

    • @ProxyHammer1
      @ProxyHammer1  3 дня назад +1

@@MrBazzwana I mean I’ve never seen that, you cannot measure ranges to other units but you can certainly use abilities while in reserve unless specifically stated otherwise. Because the farseer and warlock target their own unit they are not required to measure range because as per the rules they are always considered in range of their own unit

The video I was waiting for 😁 A lot to say as a TS player as my second army 🙂
First of all, you played a very good game, using the lack of Cabal Points on T1 to alpha strike was a master strategy, congratulations 👍
About CP generation : don't underestimate the number of CP generated by TS, because they play Tactical so they always discard an objective on T1 and so gets 2CP.
They can as well put in the open a unit of Cultists to screen or do objective, then you will destroy it, and they gain again 1 CP on 2+ on your own T1, if they go first. Meaning they can start T2 with 4 or even 5 CP. Also, for 6 Cabal Pts it's possible to reduce the cost of Indirect Fire stratagem to just 1CP, so it's possible to call it more often than you think.
About TS tricks : the Temporal Surge thing for free move at 5 Cabal Pts is used at begin of shooting phase, so you can't overwatch on it, so TS can get LOS on one of your precious unit safely.
Of course it can be avoided with good screening or appropriate positioning, but caution !
About units used by TS list during the game, they are a couple of strange points : 1) No Infernal Master at all, which is used by most lists with enhancement "Arcane Vortex", to have 2D6 18" attacks Torrent S7 AP-2 D2.
    2) Absolutely no "action monkey" in the list like Tzaangors on foot, Tzangors on Disk for 50 pts or 10 Cultists for 55 pts with Scout 6. It means that Rubrics should be used for everything, everywhere, also in the open or for guarding the home objective 😕I would remove one unit of 5 Rubrics and replace it with 1 Cultists unit + 1 Tzangors on Disk for same price.
Daemon Prince alone is not enough for secondary objectives, imo.
About the game : on your attack T1 by War Walkers he forgot one thing : Ahriman has 1 free Ritual per game, so despite having 0 Cabal Pts at this stage, he could have used it to apply the ritual to re-roll one of the failed save onto the Daemon Prince. It could have been the difference between death and life.
By having some cultists unit in the list, he could have been able to achieve some screening by scout 6; some top TS players are playing two units of them and we can understand why based on this game.
I suppose Ahriman was in fact leading the 10 Rubrics squad, as it's usual because he gives +1 to wound.
For your question about The Umbralefic Crystal : yes it is used during Command phase but just to remove the unit from the table and then it is put back on table in the Reinforcement step of Move phase, so he was right that you may overwatch.
In conclusion you made a great demonstration of how to agress them and trade their precious units generating Cabal Pts without letting them settle into the game 🙂
Very instructive game for both Aeldari and TS 👍

Thank you for the breakdown that was really helpful!! Ya I’m hindsight I think he brought something that was more semi competitive than truly tournament standard as his only action monkeys were the rhino and daemon prince. I also believe in hindsight I remember arhimsn being in the rhino so that could have been why he didn’t use his free ritual but it also could have been that he wanted to save it for later and was more confident than he should have been. I was wondering where the infernal masters were but he said he was going to try a game without them to see how more exalted sorcs would do. He did end up having more CP than I thought he would but his ability to score on secondaries was low unfortunately 😕 and you are definitely right about temporal surge! Luckily I kept my fragile windriders out of harms way until turn three when I started to thin out the rubrics.

@ProxyHammer1 it was very useful thinking for me too because of this team tournament in 6 weeks where the mates asked me to play TS. I have some action monkeys already but probably still not enough screenings, and there are plenty of armies like WE and BA that will look for early agression if they get T1
