Still have this in my car for voices and bass !!!! Best amp so far
I bought this new from Amazon back in 2019 for $135. It was bench tested briefly after I got it and has sat in the box until yesterday. Swapped out a old punch 40 pushing my entry level focal components in the Miata. Bridged the B channel for JL 8” Microsub that sits in the passenger footwell as the trunk barely allows the bass to come through and rattles far too much. Sounds good but almost think the old school punch 40 sounded more rich and clear. This amp sounds kinda flat is the best way to describe it.
I'm thinking of pairing this with pinoeer mvh2400nex I hope it's a great upgrade. I just bought 4 skar audio 150 watts rms each speakers so 100 to each is fine right ? Little under full power
Trying to find a dyno for the gm-d9704...
Can't seem to find one though.
I hope it does as well as this one.
This Amp is a 4 channel 100 watt rms. I have 4 1675v2 speaker rated at 55 watt rms and want to add 2 pioneer 6900 pro rated at 100 watt each to that Amp. Can this be done without affecting performance?
Can I use this to power my infinity kappa 92ix n 93ix front and rear ?
bro your quality and knowledge of your videos has skyrocketed. I used to think you guys were a joke several years ago with some questionable videos but everything is spot on now with some legit testing equipment too. Amazing job. you earned a sub.
Thanks Jeff! It's been a journey
Hello, can this amplifier handle the Pioneer TS-Z65CH speakers ??
Thank you very much for help. Greetings
What does it do with a clean output signal? The scope looks like your measureing at clipping.
4x 65rms and active pioneer spare wheel sub woofer can you advise good enough amp please
This is a full range amplifier will it do well on my hides/6×9?
Just ordered one. Can’t wait 😊 it will be powering my pioneer Z series 6.5s
Nice!
How is it? was planning to run the same thing.
help! i have a 2010 toyota camry .
1. changed all stock 6x9 speakers with jbl gx9638
2. keeping original stereo until i find the best touch screen radio.
3. best buy is recommending
KICKER - C-Series 8AWG 2-Channel Amplifier Power Kit - Gray/Blue
KICKER - Z-Series 16.5' 2-Channel RCA Audio Cable - Blue
PAC - 4-Channel Audio Line Output Converter for Adding Amplifier(s) - Black
Metra - Two Channel Line Output Converter - Black
but since its a 4 chn im a bit confuse why they are recommending 2chn.
please recommend all necessary assembly.
goal is to power my new speakers for that specific vehicle.
Can I run a set of component speakers in once channel and 2 6.5 subs on the other channel?
I had my heart set on the Fosgate Punch 400x4 but now I'm not so sure. I especially like the idea of the compact Fosgate, and it puts out similar power to this Pioneer but doesn't require RCA's for speaker level. Anyone care to compare this Pioneer to the regular Punch 400 or the PBR400X4D?
I'll be running either Focal ISU series 6x9 component front, 6.5 coaxial rear, or Infinity Kappa same size, can't decide on that either and no shop is open to hear the difference. The Kappas have 2.5ohm resistance which means I'll get to put over 100W into each channel with either the Pioneer or Fosgate, the Focals are 4ohm so about 70watts from the fosgate and 100w from Pioneer.
So can this be used to power a set of front components(4 ohm) and the other 2 channels to power small 2 ohm sub? Or will it only do 4 ohm bridged? I'm contemplating this amp with the Pioneer D-series 6x9 components for the front and the small 8" Pioneer loaded sub box (TS-A2000LB), which is a 2 ohm sub. Just not clear if it can do 2 ohm in bridged mode or not?
The spec sheet doesn't list this, and so a best guess would be no 2ohm bridged
With that said, you could buy two dual voice coil subs and wire them in parallel at 4 ohm - 8 ohm / 2 = 4
I picked up one of these 5 weeks ago and just finished putting it in and the damn thing is pretty Solid. I cannot even pull up one con besides it gets warm(not hot) under my seat. The damn thing is solid and is currently powering my kenwood Excelon system(6 speaker 2 tweeter). When you install it incorrectly though it will beep though which is annoying but helpful.
What do you mean beep
@@Bighotwheelhunter Speakers wired wrong.
@@brightstarlastname2812 I'm good then because I didn't here beep
Would this be good to power 4 Polk Audio Db 625 coaxial speakers? Also are these speakers any good? The guy at the audio shop steered me towards them. They don't seem that much better than the factory door speakers I had. I was originally looking at the Alpine Spr-60C 6.5 component speakers. I like loud music so some help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
oh mate should havë gone alpine 6.5. polk are good if you get the right spec. he oes you have are sold because the shop makes more money from markup.... say alpine =$80 i sell for $100..... polk $60 i sell at %100...""im selling more POLK!
I got the same amp, but it get hot its normal? Im puching 2 6x9 and 2 6x8
Can I use two channels on 2 ohms and one bridge ? Thanks
can you test the focal 5.1200 fpx amp? vs the focal fpx 4.800 amp
What’s the two RCA outputs beside the 4 inputs? Used to pass a preamp signal to another amp?
Those are RCA Outputs so you can link("daisy-chain") multiple amps together!
How do you get 6.5 and 6x9 speakers to different ohm loads like 2 ohms on a 4 channel amp or does the speaker have to come in that specific ohm to get the power
Wire parallel to channel!
Speakers are stuck at whatever ohms they're made with, the only way around it is to have two speakers and wire them in parallel (if you don't know what that means, its easy to find on google). So two 4 ohm speakers wired up to the amp will be 2 ohms. Two 2 ohm speakers will be 1 ohm. Another way to get the power of 2 ohms with a 4 ohm speaker is to bridge the channels of the amp, but that reduces a 4 channel amp into a 2 channel amp.
Hello, i need help in wiring my Pioneer TS S20 (8 ohms) tweeters and my Pioneer 4 ohms each speakers...If i parallel both it will result in approx 2 Ohms? Can someone help me on the way that i should hook these two to my 8704 amp please? Should i hook it into bridged or not? Because the TS S20 is 200w peak each and my speakers are 450w peak each. Thank you.
Aprox 5 to six ohms!!! Run them parallel to each bridged channel or each speaker with it's own channel if you have a separate sub amp! Me! Channel 1/2 for highs and 3/4 for a single sub tube!
Hi. There is 1 pair of output, 1 ch A, 1 ch B. May I know which is connected to subwoofer, front speaker and coaxial speaker? Thank you.
Thats left and right channels. A sub you will want to run bridged if its a 4 ohm final load.
What would you do these new pioneer amps or Jl audio XD series?
Pioneer
Pioneer won’t respond …. do You know if this Amp, paired with Pio DMH2660NEX HU should have Differential Input interconnects, or (other “coax”) type ? I’d really Appreciate knowing …
This amp is not differential input, it’s coax single ended.
Wish I never returned this amp... sounded so good with my single 12
I read some reviews that supposedly it creates hissing noise is it true? I would appreciate your response I'm thinking of buying this amp but need your opinion first
It's 100% true.
I play snake music all the time, and it plays it very well.
Did you tested at 1 ohm
Can this amps can run two jbl 1100 watts subwoofers
What would be the best way to connect my 2 12" pioneer SVC subs to this amp if I wired them at 2ohms...?
Two SVC 2 ohm woofers cannot be wired to 2 ohm. Only 1 ohm or 4 ohm. Use the GM-D8701 or GM-D9701 instead:
www.qualitymobilevideo.com/gm-d8701.html
www.qualitymobilevideo.com/gm-d9701.html
@@Qualitymobilevideo Maybe I wasn't clear...They are 4ohm speakers...I paralleled them at 2ohm load...
Why did you not test the bridged mode?
I think I would need to upgrade my electrical system to put this in there. Im also running two 12" kicker subs with a pioneer head unit as well
Current draw looks to be around 6 amps. That is just this amp. Assume around 10-12 peak amps for your setup. Typical car alternator 80Amp at 2k+ engine rpm
@@user-yx6mq2km3m yeah until you start pushing legit 1k watts output typical alternators may strain at peak volume but will be fine. If you have a bigger vehichle/truck engine you are probably even more well off
@@user-yx6mq2km3m 6 amps is very unrealistic when doing 150x4.... The math doesn't check out... Itll be at least 60 to 80 amps...
Itll only draw around 60 to 80 amps all 4 channels driven at 150x4, a standard alt will have no issues with this
@@bobking7347 hey bro im on the fence with this one.. would I be able to run this amp with a 2003 nissan maxima? everything is after market now. Not the bose stereo system option they let u choose on Crutchfeld in which it says this amp doesn't check for compatibility with my vehicle.. any input would be highly appreciated..
Can I drive 2 4 way pioneer speakers at 80 watts rms and bridge the rear channels for dual kickers 10inch 300 watt rms subs at 2 ohms
Your subwoofers will be significantly under-powered
Does this mean I have to set my gain @ 14.4 volts with multimeter when setting my gain to get max rms output?
Well, 14.4 is complicated because when your vehicle is actually running it's really supplying more like 12.5-13.5
@@Qualitymobilevideo Well if our output will most likely be "12.5-13.5" Why do you test at the maximum voltage level of 14.4v???
I have got a question, this amplifier can handle high input, but it has only got RCA inputs, and the negatives are usually common, how can you connect a high input, where you cannot use a common negative???
The High input and RCA's give you multiple options to connect to a head unit. The RCA's are to be used if your stereo has RCA pre-amp ouputs, or if you're using a line output converter. The high level input is to connect the amplifier directly to the speaker level outputs of the wiring harness on your head unit
I love it😁
My speakers are 4 ohms front, rear .what gain i have to set?
A/c out voltage from amp = √4xrms rating of amp
I got one coming from Amazon they probably want 300 at the local car audio store
They have them now at Walmart for just 125$
Will this amp be a good match with my pioneer avic z130bt stereo?
All amplifiers and stereos are matches. The matching of amplifiers pertains really to just speakers and subwoofers
So can I power my 6x9 back speakers and my 6.5 door speaker with this amp
Of course! It's ideally used to power 4 speakers
Could i connect 1 sub and 2 pairs of woofers to this amp? Thanks
Yes if you bridge two channels (making it a 3 channel amp) and put the sub on that then on each of the other two channel you can connect two woofers in parallel, if they are at least 2 ohm each.
Thanks paul!!
Can you run different impedance speakers front and rear?
yes as long as you have the wattage
Pioneer GM-DX874 vs Sony XM-GS4
Which one do you pick for 4x4ohm door speakers ??
get the sony, the 874 has alot of signal noise
This thing is being delivered tomorrow. I ordered two of them together with two TS300-S4's to complement my other two 10 inch woofers.
BUY AS MANY AS YOU CAN! THESE ARE AMPLIFIED LIQUID EARDRUMS GOLD!
Can we play four 150 watts rms mid range speakers on this amplifier ?
Yes you can and if they are truly rated for 150 watts, this amp maybe slightly underpowered.
Is there a mono to match it ?

HELLO SIR,IS THIS AMP SUPPORT 2 OHM BRIDGE.??
No, this only support 4 ohm bridged.
"10-12 gauge for speaker and subwoofer connection." 10AWG for speaker connectors? that's a bit THIC
How can I power this amp at home to use it as a home theater ?
A very big, expensive inverter. Or a generator. And you end up paying fsr too much, for rather poor audio quality for in-home use. A car is in truth a really bad, challenging and noisy environment for audio, so sub-par audio quality is often masked by that. This amplifier packs a serious punch for its price, but its sound quality leaves s good bit to be desired. And that's in a car.
You're gonna be way better off buying a 2nd hand home theater amp/receiver. Much better sound and suitable functionality for the use, and probably significantly cheaper too. If the intent is to drive subs, a 2-250W 10" or 12" (depending on room size) decent quality _active_ suvwoofer, is gonna get you what a 1000W 12" will struggle to do in a car. Cerwin-Vega has some very decent 10" and 12" active home theater subwoofers, that are affordable, sound great and cosmetically anonymous. Ypu csn probably get one in good condition, for what it cost in materials to build just a good enclosure. As the built-in amplifiers for active speakers are bullt specifically for that cabinet, that speaker element etc - they are vastly more power efficient than mish-mash.
@@pr0xZen Thats just not true. Doesnt take much tweaking to get a car amplifier working with a cheap 12v transformer. I used to have a car amplifier for home use and some electronics guy tweaked it for me for about $20 at the time, then I used some random 12v transformer that I already had.Used it for years with no issues, and resold it easy

What's the difference between the gm-d8604 and gm-d8704
Literally just looks, other than that they're identical spec wise
@@Qualitymobilevideo wrong the 8604 had more power, 1245per channel at 4 ohm the 8704 does 100
@@promo130 pioneers official website has them both as the exact same specs.. 4 x 100 RMS at 4ohms
Your testing was very confusing. 1 channel driven 2 channel driven. But your clearly only scoping one channel even when your driving 2 channels. I pretty much got what i needed so thank you for this test as i received this model instead of the older 8604 which i ordered from walmart for 145$. Im pretty sure the older model puts out more power but ill have to look at the bench test from another channel.
I looked up the 8604 dyno test and its pretty much the same amp with a different outer case. Maybe an extra couple watts at 2 ohm but the other test on budget gem or budget bust channel was in bridged mode, theirs probably some power loss from that. Otherwise you get and extra 12.5 watts per channel with this over the 8604.
@@jacobwarren6841 haha so what, bridge mode test is the same as the 2 ohm test.
older version had more power
Wath is the bridge mood
Hi this amplifier can drive 4woofers and 4 tweeters thanks
No
Quality Mobile Video why i mean mid and high not subwoofer thanaks
Yes it can do that
You'll need to wire the component speakers(mids+tweets), in parallel
Smalltimer you mean i connect together the woofers and tweeters thanks
@@sonnelostaan3243
That's correct, by connecting the mids and tweets together in parallel(that is to say, positive with positive & negative with negative), the two speakers will be see as one to the amplifier - as per the following diagram; hometoys.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/fig2-400x250.gif
Does the D8704 run clear for mids/highs? Some people say it's great and others that it is just OK and some hear a slight hiss from it.
Anyone have some input?
hi ya.. know this is a 5 month old question but anyone have an anwser to this?... im looking at amps and want to know if this is alright or over priced rubbish its $599NZD here

Yes it can.

Very solid
I have the 8604 and it's great. It's last year's model so you can't go wrong. Pioneer Rocks!!!!
SOLLDDDDDD!
Trust me
This amplifier is a steel for it's price. Especially if u just using it for highs and mids. This thing can make any speakers loud and crisp 🔊
Just make sure you adjust your gains properly because they will blow any low wattage speakers. So please do not buy this using factory speakers📢
They won't hold the amps power
Agreed! GM-D's are very solid amps! I'd buy one for sure
Why would the amp give off more rms watts at 2 ohms vs 1 ohm? And WTF is up with running the amp at 17 and 19 volts!!
Every amp will have higher output at lower ohms (resistance). Mathematics ☝️ I never heard of 1 ohm operation though.
@@raydemarco427 Thats exactly why I asked the question mate. It made no sense that the rms output was higher at 2ohms than at 1ohm. And while generally speaking what you replied is correct its not always the case. Many JL amps and the Taramps smart 3k do same output all all ohm loads within a given range. And some of the old school tube amplifiers actually produced more power at their rated ohm load and less power as the ohm load deviated from it. Not sure what you mean by "never heard of 1 ohm operation" ? Are you talking about impedance rise? At box tuning assuming ported enclosure the amp will see very close to its nominal load, so yes 1 ohm operation indeed.
Better show, power consumtion and efficiency. instead of the voltage of the amp, thats all standard on all amps
