Slightly off topic question: I was in car audio in the early 90's when all the power classes were based on 4 ohm amplifier power and all speaker voice coils were 4 ohms so 1 ohm or lower capable amps and dual voice coils was a big advantage. Why are almost all subs still dual voice coil and what is the advantage of running high current versus standardized 4 ohm voice coils in the modern era?
I know Mark has touched on this in other videos but I thought this would be a good add to this one: Don't Be FOOLED by large Wattage Ratings. Sadly a Great Many MFGs outright lie. If your looking at lesser known brands always look at the Fuses and do the math! Example: I just saw an amp listed on Mercari made by CRUNCH that's rated for 1500 WATTS!! But it only comes with a single 40 Amp Fuse. So at best most alternators run at 14.4 Volts. So 40 X 14.4 = 576 Watts of power. Amps cannot produce electricity, they only convert the raw electricity they get from the battery/alternator into musical energy. A typical Class D amp runs around 80% Efficient. Meaning if it's maximum wattage input it can handle is 576 then the most output wattage it can produce is 460.8 Watts. So in truth this 1500 Watt amplifier is really a 460 Watt amplifier. They might have achieved 1500 Watts measured in the lab for 1.2 seconds before it burst into 🔥 🔥 🔥!!! Always Do the Math. If an amp has multiple fuses you simply add them together to get the total Amps of input the amplifier can handle. Here's a great channel for seeing car audio amps Bench Tested: ruclips.net/user/bigdwiz Williston Audio.
Speaking on efficiency, I thought that mono amps pull more than their advertised wattage to compensate for wattage lost to their efficiency rating. For example: provided a 1500w rms amp has the proper fuse inline, it would pull closer to 1600-1700 watts to achieve the advertised 1500 watts. Is that not correct?

@CarAudioFabricatio Hello, For a combination of speakers XS-162ES at front & XS-160ES at rear, which is a suitable amplifier among XM-GS4 or XM-4ES? I require to get crystal clear sound only with some good bass. I am NOT looking for very loud sound. What are the extra things to get from XM-4ES over XM-GS4, is it only loudness or the output is far better in terms of clarity? Is it worth the price if I install XM-4ES or XM-GS4 will meet my requirements? Please let me know. Thanks!

Im trying to help my girlfriend out with this and here is my thought. I prefer ported but I think a sealed box would do better if you had no doors or top. guys i really need help!! Im upgrading to rockford dual 12 P3's rated at 1200 rms at 1 ohm. I was going to get the skar 1500 watt mono amp for $180. Is this a good amp for the subs and will i need an extra smaller batter/capacitor and 1/0 gauge wire?? completely stock radio on a 2014 car
I have the skar 1500w mono amp, it's extremely good value for its performance. If your peak power is going above 1500w and you have the power wire running more than a few feet then it couldn't hurt to upgrade to 1/0 wire, but for that amp you would also have to purchase some 1/0 to 4 gauge wire reducers because the amp has 4 gauge inputs. Idk about an extra battery, but I did have to replace my stock alternator with a high output one (stock one died on me, took my battery down with it). You will probably have to do the same unless your stock alternator puts out ~200-250 amps. A 2 farad capacitor would help as well. I also opted for a high performance optima yellow top battery to replace my old one.
Thanks man. I also have the option to get a rockford 1000w prime which I read is extremely efficient and would make it so I wouldn’t have to upgrade my electrical or get another battery. Is this even true do you think? The amp is $400 but a whole 500w less power. Do you think the 500w would be noticeable sound wise or would it’s efficiency compensate for the less power with better sound quality
I wish stereo shop employees would explain everything like this. It’s a shame that they usually want to sell you the most expensive equipment even at the cost of your car sounding like crap.

What if I have 2 subs 300rms each one… and I get an Amp that handles 500rms but it matches the frequency response… I want SQ and yes the subs are JL Audio W0V3-4 and the amp is the JL Audio JD500/1
My question would be if I'm running an aftermarket head unit aftermarket speakers
I'm looking to do a 12 inch ported box should I run a 5 channel amplifier. Or a 4-channel amplifier and I'm looking to run an epicenter also
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
@CarAudioFabricatio
Hello,
For a combination of speakers XS-162ES at front & XS-160ES at rear, which is a suitable amplifier among XM-GS4 or XM-4ES?
I require to get crystal clear sound only with some good bass. I am NOT looking for very loud sound.
What are the extra things to get from XM-4ES over XM-GS4, is it only loudness or the output is far better in terms of clarity?
Is it worth the price if I install XM-4ES or XM-GS4 will meet my requirements?
Please let me know. Thanks!
HEY I NEED HELP. Jeep owners who have installed subwoofers. With the top off and doors off how does it sound? Id like to know your setup too if you all could leave it below for me. Im trying to help my girlfriend out with this and here is my thought. I prefer ported but I think a sealed box would do better if you had no doors or top. She will probably end up with 2 10s but the question is would sealed or ported be better without the doors or top. Please tell me what you know all info would help. Thanks
So which brand? I'm leaning on Jl Audio or Kenwood
guys i really need help!!
How can I pick a clean signal output amp ??? To push a 8inch L7 sub to the MAX

I am searching for a amp for my two JL audio 12W6s. Every time I think I've made up my mind I question myself because there are good opinions and bad opinions. I'm starting to think that it's more about personal choice and preference. What would you recommend? I'm looking for a amp to do one ohm at 1200 Watts and a four-channel to do about 60 to 75 watts
per channel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Grand Marquis. It has a 8" hole by the rear window for the factory sub which my car didn't come with. I'm looking at an infinity kappa free air 800watt 1600wat max sub woofer, and a pioneer 1000 watt amp. Is this enough? Or a good or bad setup? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
How do you rate the JL 600/6i
Subwoofer calls for 750 rms. Had some people tell me to double that to run sub efficiency. This correct?
Like 1500 rms amp to push it
No, that's advice coming from the same people that constantly need to warranty their subwoofers but say silly things like "I never turned it up past half gain"
