This is our first year owning an above ground pool, 14' x 48", and let me preface this by saying my husband couldn't care less, so leveling it wasn't a big concern for him. Plus he was convinced that I wouldn't want to do the required pool maintenance so was sure it would come down before summer was over. Anyway...on to my point. Our pool is approximately 5" unlevel and has been just fine. I keep waiting for it to collapse, but, fingers crossed, so far so good. And, I love my pool and have been maintaining it like a champ to the point that my husband has admitted defeat and assures me we will work harder at leveling the pool next year. I wouldn't want the unlevel pool to be the case every year, but for this first year it was fine. Hope this helps someone else!!
Omygoodness thank you for this comment. Thank you Sooooo much. I am just setting up my Intex 15 foot round by 48 inches. hey on the one side that is the deeper end, did the metal rod ever push out the dirt any? mine is unlevel as well looks about the same, i wish i could have seen a shot of your pool on the outside (deep/heavier)side. I'm getting nervous it's only been up 3 days the kids are afraid we are going to have to take it down to retry it.... i guess my question is the side that's deep is kind of bulging a bit pushing on metal rod is yours or has yours done that and did it just stop
I got just short of nine years out of my 18x48 Intex, which was left up year-round, and was about three or four inches deeper in one side. Yes, the poles leaned a little, but what finally ended it was rust (hastened by making the mistake of switching to salt water one season), not leaning. I'll be putting up another one soon..
Hi, so you never took your pool down and it was fine? Just put mine up and it’s off by 3 inches.. hasn’t even been a week but wondering if I should redo it..
@@lizcarter9409 Nope. Never had an issue beyond what I mentioned. Put it up July of 2009 and took it down December 2018. I put up a new one September of 2019 (last year), but I did a better job of leveling the ground this time. Enjoy it!
Lol use 12" stones under the legs and take a level and go around the pool on top. Throw some sand under the unlevel stones going around two or three times in a circle. The bottom doesn't need to be perfect. Just the legs. We just set up our first pool and it's only about an inch off on one side.a long level helps. You have to slowly pull back the stones away from the pool as it fills so the liner doesn't sit on the stones. You can also use a jack to slightly readjust levelness after it's full but this is more dangerous.
So we stated filling our pool all the post and rails are level with pavers under each. The problem is the ground under the pool is not level is that the same as the pool itself not being level?
It keeps surprising me that quite a few people on RUclips say that they probably use their pool for the last time even though they still look fine! Is it that people have too much money on their hands these days? My pool is unlevel for three years now also, big deal! It won't collapse and as long as it doesn't rust away or starts leaking everywhere I'll keep using it! I rather keep my money in my pocket instead of giving it to a Chinese manufacturer and a whole chain of wholesalers, importers, salesmen, the tax man!!! etc.
☹️My new Coleman 18x4feet deep pool is unlevel. It started off more level and after I started filling it up it started to get more unlevel. when I first filled it up the legs on one side was leaning on the pool so I had to drain it, fix the legs and refill it, the legs aren’t leaning now but still unlevel water.I guess the pool moved a little bit. Are yard is suppose to be level because are whole yard got leveled for the house when we got it. So I just decided to fill it up until it touched the pool pump jet, so it would be safer. I decided to use the pool for summer and put it up as soon as summer ends. Next year will hopefully be better. Sucks that I can’t fill it all the way up but better safe than sorry.😒
Ok so you have been fine with it being unlevel 3 years? Yay. I'm filling mine now and it's unlevel, I don't want to drain it and start over. Any advise? Thank you. ✌🤞🏊♀️🏊♂️🤽♀️
I just bought this same pool and I put it together all by myself! Yay!! I am pretty sure it's pretty level the only concern I have was when I added water I could feel hard lumps under the liner from the ground. I didn't do any ground prep since it's just me putting it together all by myself....I'm basically a single mom.....my husband works out of town 5 days a week. I guess my question is did you do any sort of ground prep before you put the pool down or did you lay anything other than the ground cover under the pool before you set it up?
The liners are fairly tough, but they can rip if you have a real sharp stone underneath. If had good luck repairing little holes, though. But, YES, I do a little ground prep before I put my pool up. I rake the area and use my leaf blower. I will then put a few bags of sand down (the sand is not for leveling, but merely to provide a soft base) and finally cover the sand with a tarp. I usually get 3-4 summers out of my pools, and if/when I throw them away, I use the old pool liner as a ground cover. I use a razor to cut the sidewalls off the old pool and put the new pool right on top of the old pool (the old pool liner is much thicker than a standard tarp).
just the ground cover under ours. I did make sure we didnt have any rocks under before. I can still feel some bumps here and there when in the pool. Honestly you'll prob be fine just leaving it the way it is.
We have the 17 x 52..and same thing as your 3rd year..being unlevel. I'm assuming it's normal for the pool to flex the whole time the kids are bouncing around in it...and the water splashes out the whole time..it's scary to watch as I'm used to a normal pool...any worries on your end of the pool ...breaking...from the flexing?
I just filled my pool. It's a 14' 48" round Bestway pool, similar to yours. The water is approx 3 to 3 1/2 deeper on one side than the other. Should this be a concern? I leveled out the ground for a couple of weeks and thought I did enough.
@@madelineadamson173 I needed to replace it the following year with an Intex because of a tear in the liner. The Intex had the same lean as the previous pool. It's now been 2 years and it's still up and running. However, the poles have begun to rust badly in a few areas and the integrity is in question. It will last this summer and we have to consider other options for next year. The lopsidedness is a bit more this year as it's about 4"at the highest part. Not ideal but withstands kids playing and waves. Next year a permanent pool may be needed with a properly leveled ground by professionals.
