- Hey guys! It seems like it's been a long time since I posted a normal video but I will have two for you this week! In this video I am talking about phonics instruction. I share with you what worked best with my intervention group last year and the format that I used. Time to get ready to tackle phonics again because the school year is getting closer and closer! I am also introducing my new store and newsletter so make sure you follow the links below to go and check those out. I hope you all find this video really useful and let me know what you think!
Teaching letters and sounds is one of my favorite topics to teach in reading. I have compiled a unit of some of my favorite activities to help teach each letter. You can use these activities in both small and whole group! This unit is meant to be hands-on and interactive.

Just found your videos last night! Starting my third year teaching and you have really got me excited again for the new year! Thanks!!! Keep up the great work!
Yayy! When do you start? I have a few weeks but soooo much to do!
This is awesome! I hope to buy it next Friday, thanks for leaving the sale up all month!
Your amazing! Thank you for sharing your teaching strategies with us! I will be teaching Kinder this year. I can't wait to purchase your phonics bundle!
*Great work The Lettered Classroom! We'll be sure to check out the 'L' samples today. Thanks for sharing!*
hey ,if anyone else trying to find out teaching children reading comprehension try Pronto learner compendium (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my neighbor got cool success with it.
Great idea for the classroom... thank you for sharing them!
I love all your videos! I still got more to go.. but you help me the most with my Teaching skills.. you are such a genius.
Great video as all ways! So exciting about your own store!
Thank you so much, Michelle!
So glad I found your channel...its been a life saver! Can't wait to see what you come up with for 4th grade! 😊
Thank you so much! I am beyond excited to begin teaching!
I'm obsessed with your channel! Bought your teacher planner and I am so excited to use it! Love from one kinder teacher to another!
Awww. Yay! Thank you so much!
Found this by accident but was really excited to see this in action. I am hoping to use this for my ESOL students and my low babies. Hoping I can still find the resources on you blog. Thanks
This is an amazing video! I’m going to use it with my son. I think it would work very well with one child too! Thank you so much.
Thanks for the video! I teach English as a New Language at the elementary level and most of my work revolves around phonics! I am always looking for new strategies and tips! I truly appreciate your videos!
+Thrifted Living how great! This video is perfect for you. The students that I refer to in the video are EL learners and they struggled all year. I only wish I'd had done this all year long with them.
Such a great resource! I will definitely be using it this school year!
Awesome! I hope it helps!
I love this video. I'm sure, I'm gonna be using some of your great ideas in my classroom next year, too.
We use a chart with the whole alphabet on it and there's a picture for each letter ... so children who want to write "apple" look at the chart and search the picture "apple" for a and "penguin" for p etc., but I like the idea of trade names :)
Very clear and simple lesson. Thank you
Just love you and your work
You are great! I just love your videos! Although Brazilian education is not really pragmatic, I can still get many good ideas from you. Thanks!
Love your videos. You are such an inspiring teacher. I would love to see your guiding reading for those babies that are already reading ;)
Thanks! August is booked right now but I'll put it down for September, possibly.
Great ideas and suggestions. I love these type of videos. - Christina
love the video it really does help! also you were right triumphant is a word and you used it correctly! don't second guess
This is such a helpful video and the materials are amazing, this is going to be incredibly useful in my classrooms, I teach kindergarten in Mexico and my ESLstudents will benefit a lot from this, thank you so much
please keep doing materials suitable for kindergarten and preschool, and good luck on your next group . :)
Great! Yes, I plan to continue to do a mixture of upper and lower elementary projects.
Love all your videos!
Thank you so much! Thank you for watching!
just ordered....thanks for the deal!!
Thank you so much!! I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for this girl
This is wonderful! I'm going to use this for intervention with my ESL students. Is there potential to get a blank template for the environmental print chart because some of the items won't apply in Aus? Not to worry if it's too difficult.
Yes! I will make that as a freebie today! Check back tomorrow and it should be up.
+The Lettered Classroom You're just amazing Bridget!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
great ideas
Thanks for sharing!
Is it good to teach the child (who can parrot the alphabet and recognise the letters ) the letter sound and how to write it before moving onto the more difficult longer sounds etc ? How many letter sounds and writing it is recommended in a week ?
Great device
Great ideas, so these ideas for lessons & activities would work for pre-K through 1st grade?
What did you do with the on level and high level groups?
I love this video and did haircut because your hair looks so good.
Too sweet 😊
There are a few factors in learning quickly . A place I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Pronto Learner Compendium (look for it on google) without a doubt the best resource that I've found. Check out the extraordinary information .
Great video
i just subscribed to your newsletter!!
Thank you so much! I just fixed the Confirmation email, so hopefully you receive it as well!
What kind of mouth movement we r doing I want that wording
Hi! Bridget I want to say thank you for all the helpful information you put out😁I was wondering is this bundle still available? I clicked on the link but it says page not found
I offer it on my website store -
www.theletteredclassroom.com/store
You're so fabulous. I love watching your videos. Have you moved to Pennsylvania yet? Vlogs please!!! 😊
We are getting ready to move at the end of the month. It's going to be vlog over kill in August!!!!! 🤗
Yay!!! I'm excited!!! 😊
I was just on Caras link and she mentions the video of her son doing the motions but I can't find it
I want to purchase the bundle but don't see the link to do so??
Can you teach how to start from starting to a child of four years old. He doesn't know anything
Do you think you could do a video of how you create a lesson plan? I am a future teacher and would love to see a step-by-step!
Are you wanting to know how to make the frame of the lesson plan rather than the contents?
I've taken classes where the frame has been briefly described to me, but I feel like it would be very useful to see someone as detailed as you really demonstrate what they are saying. So yes please! That would be helpful :)
所以 美国人也要用这个来学读单词吗 作为一个在学英语的中国人 表示很好奇:
so do us peoples also used these methods to read the world? as a Chinese who is learning English, i am curiously about that.
Thank you so much for this video!! I literally took nots during this! Ha! How many children do you typically have in a small group? Is there a magic number for this or does it depend on how many of that level you have? I use 'smitten with first' 's phonics friends for my vowel sounds and it was a real game-changed in my class last year, can't wait to build on that with your ideas!
*notes lol
Thank you so much! 😊 I am so glad this is helpful. You do t want to have any more than 6 but I prefer to have 5. It's a good "magic" number. I've never heard of vowel friends. I will have to look that one up!
+The Lettered Classroom if you have any ELL's in your class phonics friends make a world of difference. It's a way to really perfect that sound and they are always referring back to it whenever they are stumped.
Can you do a video on lesson plans and what you use to write your lesson plans?!!!??!!
vlogs too please!!!!!!!!
Vlog overkill coming soon!
your awesome👍
:) Thank you so much!!
I would like to ask you about those student's who have struggling with letter identification for several years and still I am unable to get them to make the connection. Needless to say that reading has not began either. Just reaching out to you.
For kids that really struggle with this, associating an action can be a great scaffolding tool. So for a as an example you would show them a picture of ants with the letter a and they would rub (imaginary) ants off their shoulder and say the /a/ sound repeatedly. Everytime they see an a they should make the action. Struggling students will nearly always remember the action first and this will trigger their memory of the sound. - here's a video example of some actions but you can create your own. ruclips.net/video/yVyry9jpVjI/видео.html
Hello, interesting video. Unfortunately, none of the links works?
I'm sorry, I moved my website and haven't had time to update past videos. My content is now at www.TheLetteredClassroom.com
Just out of curiosity: could you tell me where you're from? I'm curious about your accent.
Houston, Texas. Born and raised 👍🏼
