  • Whilst out on a wet walk this Sunday afternoon I heard the distinctive whistle of a GWR Pannier Tank. My heart skipped a beat as I realised I'd managed to time my constitutional with the return working of today's first Santa Special. 7754 sounded fantastic on the heavy train - and bonus, a surprise on the back!

I visited the Llangollen Railway in 2019 and absolutely fell in love with that place and the entire county! Would love to return one day!

It’s a wonderful place to live, I sometimes have to pinch myself that it is all here on my doorstep!

Beautiful line, though I haven't ridden on it since a 'Steel, Steam and Stars' gala a few years back, where I had a great day riding behind a very varied assortment of locos. Chuffed (pun intended) to see 7754 at the front of this train, as she is my 'signature' loco as you might see from my log-in, but I can't deny I half wish she was wearing her old Mountain Ash livery.

Yes, a lovely line, and 7754 is wonderful. I’ve my own lifetime experiences of her: paxton-road.blogspot.com/2023/10/full-circle-7754-returns.html

It’s funny how cropping the scene with the trees on my right at the side of the road, and the house behind the signal box on the left provide a cameo framing for the level crossing scene.
