    Great video. Enjoyed watching it. But... A few fact checks. The Patriot newbuild is now based at the West Shed at Butterley. The B17 Spirit of Sandringham is now based at CTL Seal in Sheffield alongside 72010 Hengist. I know this as I am the commercial director of the Clan Project, which is building Hengist. The B17 frames are next to ours. One of the guys involved with the Patriot is a personal friend and has told me where it moved to. 5199 has also left the railway. It is on 12 months hire to the West Somerset Railway and will not return to Llangollen at the end of that period. Again a personal friend has told me where she will move to after the hire period. He is a member of the owning group. There are also rumours that the Night Owl is also going to relocate. It's all happening at Llangollen at the moment it seems.

      Hi Bob. Thanks so much for the updates. You'll have realised the production was made a few years back. I'm sure everyone will appreciate you bringing us up to date - and it's nice to have you along for the ride. Delighted things are busy at Llangollen. We really enjoyed our visit, and the pub across the road was an excellent place to stay. Highly recommended :-) Part two of the cab ride will be along in about a week. Please remember to subscribe if you haven't already so you'll know when new productions hit the channel. The Clan Project looks really exciting. It's so good to see that there's still the expertise available to tackle a project like this. Good luck, and please keep us all updated with progress.

      @Bob Ife It's a great shame that she is leaving altogether, do you know why (and where?) she is moving?

    • @bobife1253
      @bobife1253 3 года назад

      @@pannierprairie7884 I do not have the exact details. My colleague from the Clan Project, Mike, is one of the owners of 5199 and he was telling me of the move, but I cannot recall where he said the new permanent base was going to be. I'll try to get hold of him and see if he will refresh my memory. As he lives in Tideswell in the high peak I imagine he's going to be snowed in this morning. Not sure what is happening at Llangollen but it seems that long term resident locomotives (and staff/volunteers) are leaving. Makes me wonder if all is well at the railway.

      @@bobife1253 Thanks very much Bob, I'm very interested to find out! I am aware that the railway was getting into financial trouble over the past couple of years, leading to the closure of their engineering business earlier this year (hence why new-build and other contract projects have all left the railway). It is also interesting to note that the railway was no longer accepting new volunteers. However, the railway's board had a major reshuffling of directors in October, and they hope to turn things around, with new volunteers now being allowed to join, so hopefully the railway has a good future ahead of it.

    Another good film. Could I respectfully suggest taking some advice about your pronunciation of Welsh place names?

    • @cabrides
      @cabrides  3 года назад +1

      Hi Tom. You should have a career in the Diplomatic Service. In other productions I regularly apologise for the way I mangle Welsh pronunciation. Somehow, I failed to do it with this one. I know it doesn't show, but I took advice, did a lot of research and still managed to have it sound like it does. I think it's beyond the combined abilities of my brain and vocal chords, and I'm really sorry to all those it offends. But for someone who seems to struggle with English pronunciation, Welsh was never going to been a huge success for me. I accept my banishment from Cymru with as much grace as I can muster, and promise to try harder.

    • @tomlee9534
      @tomlee9534 3 года назад

      @@cabrides many people struggle. I have the advantage of growing up with a Welsh speaking mother, grandmother and uncle, so while my conversation is non-existent, my pronunciation is pretty good, albeit somewhat archaic. I’m looking forward to more films.
