Me too, but there is a major untapped market and we need to be able to have a way to locally look up low-voltage installers. I should be able to easily google and have a low-voltage installer person come out to my house and set it up and not pay an arm in a lead
@ That would leave you with three options. A regular telephone/network installation company, an alarm company, or an electrician would be authorized for low voltage work. All of those options would be expensive. Electricians do not really like pulling permits for other people to do work under them. If you need a permit, you might just look into the cost of getting your own low voltage certification and permit if that’s the route you decide to go. In some jurisdictions, homeowners can run their own low voltage provided it’s in their residence. You would have to check your local regulations.
G'day, I'ma bit frustrated that the Duo cameras are only partially compatable with older variants of the NVR. What makes it worse is the incompatability issues are not clearly mentioned.
With Reolink, it does happen. They do try to make their new products compatible by needing to update the firmware on the NVR but there are older models that will not be compatible.
2 questions. 1) Does this camera take up two channels in the nvr? 2) Did you see New model CX 410 C with spotlights+IRs? It's on the Reolink website. Do you know when it will be available?
1) Just 1 channel 2) I just saw it but I really want the turret version of it. They also have the CX820 in there which is the turret version of the CX810.
@@LifeHackster They removed 1 spotlight diode in new CX820 turret model. And new CX410C with IR diodes has smaller 1/3" sensor than old CX410 1/1,8". Result - new CX410C has much smaller FOV and I suppose will produce darker picture at night in "Color Mode" with only 1 spotlight built in. Waiting for your review. Regards.
Hi LifeHackster, would love it if you could review the new Reolink Lumus Pro that just released. Was looking to buy a small camera that records 24/7 to put in the front of my house
CES is underwhelming every single year over year but when you look at five year increments or 10 year increments then as that’s when you see the difference
Hey quick question, can u review de rlc-1224, looking for a poe camera with infra red and spotlight. If u have any suggestion for better options i am all open for it
Got a Floodlight Duo mounted vertically in a single gang box. How difficult would it be to replace it with a Duo V3 . As the mounts look substantially different. Hope you enjoyed the craziness of CES!
Thank you for the informative videos. I just bought one of these for my chicken run but it came DOA and wouldn't even power one. So, I decided to return it for a full refund and try a Eufy camera instead. I wish all these companies would stop using USPS and switch to fedex or UPS for quicker and more reliable shipping.
Hey LifeHackster, would you rather use the eufy E220 (Indoor) or the C220 (Indoor)? Is there also an option to have the E220 turn off when in home mode?
@@LifeHackster No, I don't mean a PoE splitter. I'm looking for a box where I can place the wiring, which is also waterproof. The problem is that no cable glands fit the camera cables because the PoE connector is too thick. Is there a solution to make a junction box waterproof with a connected surveillance camera?
@ You are right as to the cable glands. I still have to test out a 1 inch one and see if it will work. I just use rubber grommets that you slit up so it is not water proof…
Question for you if I have the ring system now and I wanted to go to a wired system do you recommend wired over Wi-Fi and I have a three router system to cover the property does it matter which router gets plugged in into the POE system all the routers are plug in to the main one so basically it’s extending the Wi-Fi farther by hardline
@LifeHackster Thanks for the info, it seems none of the big brands are doing higher FPS yet. I guess that will be "innovations" over the next couple of years.
I agree I have two ring pro flood cams and I’m looking to change, but I can’t decide who to go with their new update. Wasn’t that big of an update I could barely tell and it’s only basically from like 5 to 10 feet. You can tell anything farther than that looks the same as Iit did before.
I just hate the exposed cabling to power the camera. It doesnt look neat and is prone to tampering with! Wish Reolink would redesign to ensure security of the power lead and it be hidden
Thank you for the video. However, the camera doesn’t look good on the property. I know it’s subjective but the camera reminds me of the head of a robot. 🤖
As a company, I would just save all my money on budget and not go to CES or advertise as long as I’m selling on Amazon and the algorithm works in my favor and the reviews work in my favor that’s my free advertising. Oh, and don’t forget all the RUclips reviewers.
I’m still a fan of wired connections over wireless as bad actors are more frequently using devices that interrupt signals.

True. Wired PoE is the way to go for the ultimate setup.
Fan of wired to but we have concrete walls in Philippines so it's hard to do a clean (no visible) wirings haha
This is the channel to watch when you need a good honest review of security cameras!
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Hooking this camera up would you recommend the hub or the nvr?
I like the wide field of view detection.
Yes, it is the way to go if you want just 1 camera to cover a wide area.
I like this for a backyard or pointed back at property from a fence, otherwise I’d go with PoE whenever possible
If you can run wiring, definitely PoE will be better.

I have to check it out. Thank you.
We need that Argus 4 Pro PoE damnit! I really don't like the big form factor of the Duo. Argus 4 Pro PoE is instant buy for me.
CES is underwhelming every single year over year but when you look at five year increments or 10 year increments then as that’s when you see the difference
True. I have noticed lately in tech, mostly are software or AI upgrades more than the products themselves.
Thank you.
You’re welcome!
Hey quick question, can u review de rlc-1224, looking for a poe camera with infra red and spotlight. If u have any suggestion for better options i am all open for it
This is a good option. I did check out the bullet version of this which performed pretty good.

I know the connector is a bit different so I’m not sure. Yes, it was a busy CES week.. a lot of people attended.
Does this camera record 24/7 or do you need to pair it up to the NVR system?
Yes, 24/7 recording to the microSD card if setup by itself and/or to the NVR.
Hopefully you'll have some of that new Tapo gear from CES 2025 in for review soon.
Whenever they become available, I’ll be checking them out.
Does the eufy e330 only send video over your WiFi or does the homebase makes it own WiFi using less bandwidth of you home internet
Its homebase has its own WIFI.

I'm sure I missed something..does this have a zoom?
Johnny Five?
Maybe this is not the right place to ask but hopefully someone can help me out. May I know the best Dash Cams brands and models. Thanks.
Check out Viofo and Vantrue. I have been using the A119 Mini 2 and happy with it.
Thanks
You are welcome!
Hey LifeHackster, would you rather use the eufy E220 (Indoor) or the C220 (Indoor)? Is there also an option to have the E220 turn off when in home mode?
I’ll go with the newer C220 and yes you can set it to go in privacy when in home mode.
@@LifeHacksterThank you! In your opinion, what would be your go-to brand for WiFi security cameras?
I am interested in the reolink eco system, are the wifi cameras able to constantly stream video?
Yes, the plug in versions. Not the battery powered ones.
You should be able to get a larger view on your phone if you have it landscape.
That's true.
What kind of terminal outlet do you use? Could you possibly provide a link?
If you are talking about the PoE splitter, check the description for a separate video I made on it.

Wired is better than wireless or WiFi. You just have to plan out routing your Ethernet cabling.
Are there any cameras with higher framerates? They all seem quite low which isn't ideal if bad actors are running.
For Reolink the max FPS for their 4K is 25 fps. Their 4MP 2K CX410 is 30 FPS.
@LifeHackster Thanks for the info, it seems none of the big brands are doing higher FPS yet. I guess that will be "innovations" over the next couple of years.
What is the little grey box called? I'm trying to find something like that
Outdoor grade junction box
I had it linked in the description of the video.
Is the new 2k update for ring a legitimate upgrade?
Nope. Run far away from ring. Reo link and eufy are the best.
I agree I have two ring pro flood cams and I’m looking to change, but I can’t decide who to go with their new update. Wasn’t that big of an update I could barely tell and it’s only basically from like 5 to 10 feet. You can tell anything farther than that looks the same as Iit did before.
I still have to test it but I heard not really an upgrade but we will see.
We need trackmix pro
Hopefully, they are working on it.
Already?
He’s very efficient!! Check the date on his phone
:)
I was gonna wait to buy a Poe doorbell and the due 2v to wait and see what new stuff was coming out but I was highly disappointed with ces

Jonney 5.

The influencer strategy appears to be working well for many companies, I can’t imagine how expensive some of those booths are
These cameras are nice but kinda..............huge. 🤔
