Excellent advice and probably the best presentation on the subject I've ever heard. It also holds true for those who are required to bid for recurrent training, as many of my colleagues have learned the hard way! Forgetting to bid can really make a mess of your plans.
Right on Max! Loving the new channel. You’ve now combined my 2 favorite passions (modeling and flying). QOL for modeling is always the way to go. Enjoy!
Sounds like the airlines have adopted the EBay model; you bid on it and win, you are on the hook, whether you still wanted that pink stuffed Teddy Bear or not!
Thanks Max for a very informative teaching of first officers and captains. Until you mentioned it a while ago I never new of the bidding process. Also never knew a lot of guys like the first officer position and do not want to be captain. I always thought it was not voluntary and first officers got promoted to captain as part of the job cycle. Take care and safe travels this week.
Being a Real Captain / Commander of an Airliner takes a Special Breed of Men . DC 8 - B 767 - B 747 400 - A 321 - B 777 300 Pic. Latam - Lufthansa Cargo China - Juneyao Airlines China - Qatar Airways. First Lieutenant ( Ret ) Air Force of Chile USAF Trained Webb AFB , TX. I thanks All my F/Os who made my life easier in the Left Seat .
I think it was a huge mistake to down-size flight crews and eliminate the Flight Engineers position. This just puts more tasks and responsibilities onto the guys actually flying the plane. Plus, using only 2 engines for long distance over ocean flights? I've STOPPED flying commercial altogether!
Love the new channel Max! As always God bless you and your family and thanks for everything you do!
Some places will pay you captain rate while you're still in the right seat. Then it's all about quality of life.
