    The hospital I used to use was a teaching hospital. I have had many students examine me and take history. I'm always nice to them because I know it can be intimidating. I used to be a medical assistant. I'm retired now. Just enjoy your videos.

    Good that you’re already using the Step 1 review book. The Kaplan course used to be CLUTCH for the boards as well. So proud of you!

    Also, love how they prepare y'all for your clinicals. We have to do an elective during the summer and learn as much as we can on our own to prepare.😧

    how key is the first aid book to USMLE? In the UK the majority of my learning was through lectures and online resources? barely used any other textbooks!

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  6 лет назад

      That Medic I’ve heard people refer to first aid as the “bible” for step 1. It really gives you all the high yields that you need to know, in a condensed format. But more important, UWorld questions are the key to the exam

    Hello! I love watching your videos, it’s really refreshing and makes me actually want to be productive (which is rare!!) and get my mindset straightened out. I’m still in high school, and want to be a forensic pathologist. Your videos make me leas intimidated of med school, so thank you for that. Love you.

    I really enjoy watching your vlogs. You are going to be an amazing doctor due to your passion for medicine and your strong work ethic. I'm currently pursuing a Master's degree in Health Informatics to work as a Medical Librarian. I was wondering whenever you have time, could you do a vlog on EVMS medical library and services that are offered to medical students. For example, instruction sessions or outreach services. Thanks

    Hey Precious, what do you do when you're feeling tired but have to keep on studying?!

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  6 лет назад +4

      Margaret I feel that’s me constantly haha. Try getting, up and walking around, change your study location maybe.
      But if you’re so tired to the point where you feel you’re being unproductive, then I’d just take a nap. Wake up and feel refreshed to keep studying!

    Yayyy you're back! Question: How many hours of studying would you say you average daily? And any tips for someone who struggles with sitting so much while studying and likes to constantly be on the move? lol

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  6 лет назад

      Christina Nicole anywhere from 6-8 hours.
      I’d probably try to switch up your study location every now and then if you feel you need to move. If you have any distractions while studying, try to cut those out. (Idk if that’s what’s making you move so much).
      I think location is key. Try to be in a place that allows you to maximally focus.
      I try to at least take a 10min break every hour tho.

    I always say yes when they ask if a med student can help because everyone has to learn and if you are nice enough to ask then why not.

    You said that Step 1 determines what residency a student can apply to...does this mean that residencies pick you based on the score you make? Or does an certain score equal a certain residency?

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  6 лет назад

      shanshan0313 no. Step 1 is one aspect of your application, but it’s a huge aspect. Often times is the first factor that programs look at when considering you. More competitive programs want to see higher scores. That’s what I mean by it determines which residencies you apply to

    Random question! As for applying to medical school how important is research experience? I get mixed answers on this

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  6 лет назад

      Emily Chea I think it depends on the school. More competitive schools may like to see research. But research won’t make or break your application.
      Admissions are getting more and more competitive each year, so it would be a nice addition to have to your app.
      I would only do it if you truly have an interest or if you feel some other parts of your application are weak

    how do you balance vlogging( esp vid editing) and studying?

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  6 лет назад

      Island girl in the Med World I edit on my iPhone, which makes the process much quicker. I do a little editing throughout the week.
      I try to film videos in advance, if I can. That way if have a busy week coming up (like exam week), I’ll already have a vid prepared for that week

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  6 лет назад +2

      crm mtz 1st and 4th year, you have the most free time. 2nd year is difficult and time consuming because of boards. 3rd year, you’re constantly in the hospital. You can definitely have a life, but you have to prioritize, plan, and say no sometimes
