@King Lair Um no it's not. Think of the Into the Future pack from the Sims 3. Your sims actions in the present affect the future. You can have a "regular" future, a dystopia or a utopia. Eco lifestyle is just a more realistic application. Depending on what you do in the environment NOW affects the future. They just needed to apply it better.
@King Lair ok just because that's not something YOU wanna do doesn't mean anyone else doesn't want it. This is the first good and fun and actually affecting your game expansion pack in YEARS and I like it.
I'm so disappointed the anticipated "effect in other worlds" is just lighting effects. I though they meant they had updated Willow Creek with potential garbage accumulation and Modern Development plans. Isn't that what an expansion should ideally accomplish?
In the old days it would have. Nowadays people are too worried about expansions ‘ruining’ their current saves, so nothing is integrated any more. It’s mindset I completely don’t understand given that expansions are supposed to enhance and expand your current saves, not ruin them!
I am a little skeptical this is due to the fears of "ruining saves." I would have preferred something more expansive, too, it seems like kind of a given. That being said, truly ruining my saves would be making them not function or altering my families. New features do not ruin them, especially ones that could be turned off or not purchased. It makes more sense in my opinion, that it was more work and more expensive and that would be an excuse to defend it.
Let's be honest. Having to make 2 extra versions of every world, including future ones is too much to expect. Specially when things like Sulani and Strangerville have their own World States, multiplying even more the quantity of world estates.
MrBowser I think it’s perfectly reasonable for $40, our expectations are just low because few dlc’s for this game actually have content worth the price.
Also dont forget cottage living and seasons. Man.. Every nature-related stuff can be made into one proper expansion pack. Like in sims3. EA so greedy... 😢
This and Tiny Living should have been one thing, can't believe they sold the "eat the bugs, bigot" and the "you will live in the pod" packs separately. Nasty NWO propaganda not worth anyones money anyway
"Effectively, the more popular, wealthy, and powerful you are, the more votes you can buy. It's incredibly easy to game the system here: just do an online charity stream and, all of a sudden, the entire world forgives everything bad you've ever done and bends to your will." Too realistic for me....
something small but i hope they address it later is how every sims seems to default to dumpster diving like, i load a community lot and i everyone runs to the dumpster, even the laandgrabs, it's insane
I wish townie sims would stay in the world that they live in. I hate how celebrities roam strangerville for example, how you'll see Mila Munch at the park in Oasis Springs, or Nancy Landgrabbs dumpster diving in evergreen harbor. I feel like I see the same townie sims EVERYWHERE, no matter what world or neighborhood
@philuip Cummins dndnd tbh it is funny but since im doing a rags to riches i get so annoyed when i see the laandgrabs stealing my trash smh like they already rich, let that to me
I lost all respect for them when I realized they don't give a copy to Clint who's the most legit sims reviewer only because he doesn't overhype a very average product and not to mention he's been a fan since Sims 1 had no expansions like many of us. that's straight up disgusting.
@@Ar1AnX1x i'm pretty sure they stopped because he declined their offer to be a "game changer" (people who still do deliberately and fairly criticize the game and its faults, btw!) has nothing to do with being a schmoozer. i'm sure ea knows lgr's opinion is a well respected one.
Having this pack follow ‘Tiny Living’ makes me think that they learned how to be sneakier after ‘My First Pet’s Stuff’ because it’s the same concept, just presented backwards. They held off so much from tiny living so it could be included in this pack but if they would’ve just kept it in I actually would’ve bought ‘Eco Living.’
The conservationist career and off-the-grid lifestyle from Sulani could also have been included. They really just chopped apart a decent pack into several small ones.
I agree. This pack would've been amazing if it's sold as a $20 game pack at best, not a $40 expansion pack. Some of the "huge" features are just glorified visual effects with little to no gameplay changes. Also, amazing review as always, Clint!
Not to mention all new objects and actions that aren't tuned properly (bug houses being too sensitive, how hard it is to turn the eco footprint industrial, etc). Play testing before release seems non-existent these days.
Honestly, all the packs should have their prices halved by default. At this point I only ever buy something for TS4 when they have a 50% discount, because it's the only time the price feels somewhat justifiable. It definitely doesn't feel like I'm buying at a discounted price though. Stuff packs make me most annoyed because, for a type of pack that is supposed to be all about the stuff you get, you barely get a handful of items. Never mind that what EA calls "expansion packs" are more like game packs, while "game packs" feel like some half-done rejects.
Since everybody's saying how honest lgr is with his reviews it got me thinking about sims youtubers that are overly positive with this game. I've come to a conclusion that they are literally influencers. They're equivalent to Instagram influencers who's every second post is an ad for something. Now I'm not saying that every sims ytuber is like this, but some of them really give me this vibe.
I don't nr necessary think that some game changers fake their excitement, unlike lgr Sims is their life. They play it all day every day. And they can be legitimately excited over these additions. Doesn't mean it will be exciting for everyone
I'd reccommend Plumbella. I don't always agree with her, but she's always pretty balanced even though she's a gamechanger. She's also pretty funny with her negative stuff rather than just whiny. She refers to this one as the gentrification pack and was stupidly excited about the sims coughing from the smog. She and LGR are pretty much the only ones I watch
For those who don't know, Sims 3 had an eco-friendly trait added in the Ambitions pack. Your character would get positive and negative moodlets depending on if they carpool or waste gas, or ride a bike, use a dryer instead of a clothesline, they would take quicker showers, and a few other things. It wasn't a lot, but considering that it was a small piece of a bigger pack it was a way to switch up the game. And let's not forget that was the same pack that added motorcycles.
What are they gonna do? Sims 4 content is mainly enjoyed by Karens of all age groups, that actually click on ads. Plus EA's shitty sponsorship is shitty but existent.
Carl is great too. I wait for both his and LGR's opinion on each pack, since they're willing to openly discuss issues and flaws. Too many of the GCs who get free access codes are unwilling to say anything negative for fear of losing their EA perks, and it shows in their reviews.
I don’t play sims 4. I don’t enjoy it as much as the previews games, but I never miss one of your reviews. They always make me laugh, plus they are so informative I would never consider buying a pack with watching your reviews first
If you're hungry for more. On the LGR Blurbs channel, he has a 55 minute game play video on this(probably for the B roll and fun). It's quite enjoyable and humorous.
Zany Awesome you can get all the games and expansions for free if you just google, there are tons of channels on youtube that show how it’s done step by step. I personally have the sims 4 and all the packs and paid for none because I hate modern greedy EA and have no intention to spend another dollar on them.
I seriously don't understand how they managed to mess up such a good franchise. There were endless possibilities after The Sims 3 but we were left with all this garbage. It could have been so great.
Yup. For example, in sims4, they can create a proper expansion pack like in sims3 that talk about GAME AND POP CULTURE. Imagine that. Gaming, PC building, robotic, costume play(cosplay), Virtual Reality tech, AI stuff.. and introduce a new job in the sims franchise such as COMIC AUTHOR, COSPLAYER, PROGRAMMER BUT WITH MANY BRANCHES... Man.. And i just talk about one theme. Im not yet talk about the expansion pack that talk about ARCHEOLOGY & HISTORY STUFF; MILITARY STUFF; AQUARIUM&ZOO STUFF; etc
I've played this game religiously since Sims 2. I truly just want a generations or family ancestry and memories pack. No more gimmicks and more depth. I hate being critical but at this point I shouldnt need a mod for an aunt to recognize her nephew. Like be happy to seem him or something. Right now there is no difference than a townie, with out a mod of course.
I have seen other sims players play it and it's important to know that getting your ecological footprint to industrial is very, VERY hard. Plumbella spammed smog making machines through out the whole world and the game was still deadset on being neutral.
Yes, I think there are in game cheats to spam the process, but I feel like you shouldn’t feel that you need to. Also, if you make a neighborhood green or industrial, leave and then come back, they go to neutral extremely quickly, so your gameplay centers around a single neighborhood at a time. I wish there was a toggle that allowed you to lock eco footprint; like say that you want certain neighborhoods to be industrial and others to be green; you can “lock” neighborhoods in their eco status so that they don’t go to neutral if you don’t want them to. This toggle can perhaps be set on a world by world basis.
that happened to me too, my footprint was industrial and i never did anything to change it and when i came back from another lot it was suddenly neutral
I have been able to make a neighborhood go industrial in San Myshuno. It just takes awhile. I can understand their decision to have neighborhoods not get industrial too easily bc then we'd end up playing in smoggy neighborhoods most of the time. Players would then be grumbling that this pack turns their regular gameplays smoggy way too often. Personally I enjoy that we can turn the worlds industrial now, but I know most simmers still like their games to be pretty more than gritty. I think trending towards neutral was the right call for their overall fanbase while also providing cheats to change it.
LGR - To be fair though, you were starting in a neutral world which doesn’t use any of the new objects. Plumbella was trying to make the Quarry neighbourhood smoggy and it was nearly impossible as all of the lots are built with green objects and wallpapers etc. She just cheated in the end.
"They're actively trying to make townies look absurd" Didn't you see the new MAC sperm eyeliner??? 🤣🤣🤣 also congrats on successfully making your world industrial it seems a lot of people is having a hard time doing that
@@eyocabbage8649 I didn't have to use cheats, I just made a household with almost every item adding to industrial. Took less than an hour as seen here: ruclips.net/video/EsZONX96fao/видео.html
Watching this review further confirms my opinion that this pack effectively renders Island Living useless. Off the Grid and Ecological affects is what made Island Living worth a glance, and since expansions take more than a year to conceptualize and make, it seems like a slap in the face that they made two full-priced expansions out of it. Better to have made a Sulani Culture system and in-depth underwater/cave explorations in Island Living and incorporated the events that occurred by cleaning up the environments (such as sea turtle hatching) into this pack except had every world have unique things that happen as your environment becomes more clean or dirty.
Island Living has such a beautiful world, but it's frustrating that it had such wasted potential and was taken in a misguided direction. Plus, it may be the only beach world we see, though I would actually hope for another one.
Yes thank you. That’s why I have such a gripe against this pack. I got Island Living. But there is no living in that world. It’s just being. No culture no lore no consequences. I packed it full with restaurants and spas because what else is there to do. And I recently played mermaids. WITH trait and aspiration mods. And they’re STILL empty and boring.
eco living also made me regret buying city living, since evergreen harbor has 2 apartment buildings.......... in retrospect maybe i'd rather have eco living with those two awful apartments to have objects to make off-the-grid lot trait more fun with windmills and whatnot, than city living, since apartment in city living were such a let down.
Yes!! I totally agree. I’ve been playing eco living the ya I wanted to play island living. It sucks they didn’t flesh out island living the way they did eco living.
cant believe expansion packs went from 120+ new INTERACTABLE objects and animations 80+ other stuff and core gameplay features that made it feel like a new game to goofily open a dumpster , collect something you can't see so you can put it in a boring futuristic machine that noone has, get a new visual . mostly the sky looking green. why has the worst sims game lasted so much longer than the good ones I'm sick of the existence of this game
well u could have tiniy living in sims 4 before the tiny living pack, only difference is u get buffs for having a tiniy home that its missing on sims 3.
Especially since the opposite isn't "Corporate" it's "Industrial" and places that look cheap are the ones that cause it- you'll get more industrial points from a Spanish style house with a lot of tile in the dessert than a mansion with carpet. They made container houses somehow bad for the environment
yes because Carl explained the buildings are built with green materials and that matters more than appliances or let alone gameplay like recycling. Once again an empty set dressing pack
Plumbella tried for THREE EPISODES to make the world industrial and had to resort to cheats to do it. it should be much more difficult to go green than industrial because that's how it is irl...
Sounds like EA tried too hard with this pack to please two different crowds. The ones worried about their builds and story lines being affected and the ones who wanted a lot of doom and gloom to manage or play with.
@@libertytomblin9369 no, the sims 4 came out in 2014 and now it's 2020 so it has been out for 6 years. The sims as a franchise has been out for 20 years though, since the first game came out in 2000.
I love the sims 3 so much. But it crashes all the time. I hope that if they'll be making the sims 5, we'll get something more like the sims 3... open world, color wheel, sims with personalities... that kind of stuff. Oh, and the imaginary friends. Those were awesome. I feel like kids don't really have anything to do in the sims 4 :/ I wish every life stage had something cool and unique.
@@AngusxDestiny111 I don't think that open world itself is a problem to the performance. Games like Doom 2016, Minecraft and GTA have HUGE maps with no loading screens whatsoever allowing free roam with little framerate issues , and that's possible because of the way the games are optimized. Sims 3 isn't optimized in any way. I don't care what the random townie across town I cannot even see is doing while I'm playing the game. If Sims 5 were to have gameplay like Sims 3 and it's properly coded and optimized, there would be no issues.
Having the Sharing is Caring neighborhood action plan causes sims to steal things. Someone stole my couch. I’m about to really start using the Extreme Violence mod.
With the voting system, it would be cool if it was one vote per person. That way, you would have to convince other sims of your position if you wanted to be sure something got done, and even then it doesn't have to work. It would add some complexity if you wanted to make the city greener, but the other residents voted it down. That would be more realistic.
One of the biggest scams in gaming history is the sims, they should just get on with sims 5, this game sucked from the start when they took all the good stuff out and then charged for it. & still not open map? man get out of here.
Why wait for the sims 5? Knowing EA, they WILL make it an online thing. It'll give EA more rights to do micro transactions. What new swatches? You have to buy them on the store. Lol. Wait for Paralives it's a better investment.
Estella Dee first I’d heard of it. Was gonna say, Parallax should do a Sims-like just as they’d outdone SimCity with Cities Skylines, but this looks like it’ll work too. I only wish it could run natively on Linux.
I hate iterative games where every one looks nicer and adds some things but totally removes beloved features. It makes me not enjoy the new one because I miss old essentials but I also enjoy the old ones less knowing what features it lacks.
The EA team is so lazy. And it specially shows NOW when a mod maker made a beta of an OPEN WORLD using the engine from the sims, and it was completely usable. EA has been lying to us for a long time, but people are starting to look through the bs
AwesomeBeedrill is there a social media expansion pack for the sims? I haven’t paid attention to the franchise since the second game, but I can see that being A Thing. A truly godawful thing, but A Thing nonetheless.
@@RobCamp-rmc_0 In Get Famous there's a video station that allows you to make videos and stream. That, and posting to Simstagram and updating your social media status can raise your fame points.
I’m in Canada and the pack costs nearly 60 dollars! There is no way in hell this is worth that amount, I didn’t even pay that for the base game, why would I dish that out for DLC? Especially during a pandemic when money is insanely tight, EA has lost the plot 🙄
@Artoria Pendragon people's labor and time?? this is supposed to be a TRIPLE A game. it is supposed to be the top-tier of games. giving us this trash is not justifiable for such a big company. not buying anything sims until they get their shit together.
@Artoria Pendragon Girl..don't be delusional. They are doing the bare minimum to get our hard earned money. $40 ain't cheap for an expansion pack. Any other game in existent has expansion packs for less money and more content
It's also €39.99 in Europe - total rip-off and doesn't convert to the exchange rates because that's $45 in the US and almost $62 CAD. EA are greedy af. If I buy any of the DLC, I wait until it's on sale.. but thank goodness for cc and mods or I'd be so done with TS4 now.
You and Carl's sims are pretty much the only two reviews I trust. You two go in depth and straight to the point and I really appreciate it. Thank you 👍🏽
They didnt overhype unlike other simmers. Of course I don't blame them for liking this pack, I will buy this too when on sale but they are the least biased/trust worthy review
Lilsimsie is an example of a biased reviewer. She basically judges the packs on it's furniture at the end of the day. And the fact that she gets them for free it's obviously making her even more biased. I like her, but if you're focusing on spending your money wisely, and in something with actual gameplay, do not take notes from lilsimsie.
"effecting the simulation" is what most of the other expansions lack. They are all so self contained, you'll forget you even have those expansions installed half the time. Probably why Seasons is still one of the best ones since you'll always see it affecting your game.
LGR is definitely the most honest, but one Game Changer I trust in reviews is Plumbella, she’s the only one that views the pack comprehensively and isn’t afraid to criticize when due. I also think Lilsimsie and James Turner aren’t bad in reviews, but Lilsimsie tends to overlook gameplay faults as long as build and buy are sufficient and James Turner‘s gameplays are so exclusively set in Rags to Riches that he would favor packs like these much more than the average simmer. I’m not dissing the game changers, but I feel that the majority of them talk about things that they like and what they’ll use it for rather than going in-depth into every mechanic and acknowledge aspects of gameplay that they won’t use but perhaps other players may be more concerned about.
@Zyxcba Yeah I was lead to believe that this was a decent pack due to the build/buy and craftable items (which are actually very nice) but the actual gameplay in the pack is often overlooked, especially by builders who mainly focus on the new items rather than the actual gameplay, which is definitely not worth $40 IMO, I'll probably wait for a sale.
@@zyxcba3155 Yes. I watched lilsimsie and of course she focused more on build/buy. I also watch urbansims but I didn't feel like she was completely honest like lgr and Carl.
Zyxcba Kayla is probably the most biased, when she looked at paralives she had a completley negative mindset about it even though it seems paralives is going to be an amazing game, but then she cries over LADDERS, something that we should’ve had in the base game. Disappointing.
Thanks so much! This is my favorite review of Sims 4 content you've ever done! Where would we be without you subjecting yourself to Sims 4 content just to give us true hardcore reviews?! Your sacrifice has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for being so beyond valuable to The Sims community and an OG Maxis fan like me. Thank you for everything! ^__^
When you mad about splitting an expansion to two separate thing, eg. pets, so EA hears you and splits it into three. Eco Lifestyle + Tiny Living + parts of island whatever. They go together so well, that almost could be one single expansion pack.. Come on, next time we will get separate summer and winter expansion packs with snow accumualtion dlc?
@@juhara_cosplay WHAT THE ACTUAL C**P? Did the just release a full priced expansion pack to an expansion pack which adds basic stuff that should have been there in the beginning or at least in a free update?
@@juhara_cosplay Btw it's worse, cause you need to buy first the base expansion pack, then the season expansion pack. (Yes I know that it's not required, but still)
@Jaakko Oksaoja lgr is just a more crtitical type of guy, most of the other reviews are just sims youtubers talking about the game, if they like it they like it
LGR is the one reviewer of the Sims that I trust as judgement for a new DLC for the game. You're not afraid to speak your mind about the release and definitely dont sugar coat the game (which I believe others do). Thank you for this review specifically, I will be waiting on a sale for the game before I purchase.
Honestly watching this just makes me peeved like this could have easily been rolled into tiny homes since the concept of watching your carbon footprint and living small tend to go hand-in-hand. I am just a bitter old sims fan who just hates how 4 is just chopping up these ideas into five packs which used to be like one with sims 2.
Been checking LGR's youtube channel EVERY single day to see if he uploaded his review omg finally I can think about whether I should get this pack or not with a more peaceful mind
@@psygn0sis As said above, my notifications don't work for shit. I get the notifications of videos being published only from like 2-3 accounts when I definitely set the bell on for way more than that, including LGR. And either way my subscription page is an absolute mess because I'm subbed to hundreds of accounts.
Even though i'm gonna pass this pack since i couldn't care less about eco lifestyle as a game, i'm gonna admit the trailler made it seems it was 40$ only to pick up trash and the pack has a lot more to offer. EA should get rid of the person responsable for that.
I thought it was a game pack honestly as I just didn't see half this stuff. And if they'd showed everything maybe i would think its worth it but it still isn't much for what i can buy full games for
Legit. That said though I got it, because it was my birthday and I like new stuff, and I'm glad I did because the Build/Buy objects are pretty awesome.
I just feel like no matter what, there's no justification for how expensive this game in its entirety is for how long it took and how little we've gotten.
It's one of thooose Add-Ons again. That adds tons of negative stuff that impacts the experience that you have to work against even though nothing of this stuff does exist in the first place if you just don't purchase said Add-On. Besides the new area, it looks like it really doesn't expands on the available playstyles or gives a ton of depth to already existing systems; it just adds more work and more to sink your ingame money into in order to achieve the status quo of the base game again.
What's wrong with having negative stuff to the experience? The Sims 4 has a really bland, utopian theme with everyone accepting each other for who they are in a life simulator where it's the complete opposite in actual real life practice. Every negative aspect that happens through chance in other Sims games has been lowered tremendously in Sims 4. I miss the parody or mocking of the mindless, blind consumerism theme (similar to Fight Club) in the first 2 Sims games. Rather than this utopian like society you find in Sims 4.
Exactly. That’s been the case since way back. I remember when I was still in to The Sims 3 years ago the first time I added a washer and dryer, and all of a sudden Sims started leaving their clothes EVERYWHERE. If you don’t buy a washer and dryer, you don’t have to worry about it.
I knew this was going to be trash when it was announced... and seems like it lived up to my disappointment, lol. You're paying $40 for a bit of CAS and build/buy... so, basically a stuff pack. This should have been a game pack, at most.
It's a one time payment for this pack, and it does affect other sims worlds and it added a more open world concept to the game as far as Evergreen harbor.
The way i see it is wait for an inevitable sale. I waited four years to get the base game for free! Tbf i was waiting for the pets pack but cats and dogs was so disappointing i waited 🤷🏼♀️😂
Same, I played the Sims 1 a month ago and couldn't believe how difficult and fun it was. I play Sims 4 for a little while and get bored out of my mind no challenge, nothing new to see. Theres atill things in Sims 1, 2 or 3 that surprise me
I've lost my sims 1 and 2 CD rom and too late to download it. Sims 3 is better. I love the colour wheel. A lot of the swatches and patterns don't fit with my style of gameplay
The calm jazzy slightly sassy laid back nature of this reviewer analysis proves irresistible. I never miss an episode of this man's confident snarks. His intelligent deadpan voice. His receipt filled exuberance
The Sims 4 needs an emotion system/traits overhaul and complexity to make it more enjoyable. We accepted that there's a huge gap between The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 that will never be fulfilled but let's hope this game to be enjoyable as The Sims 2 at least. The dlc's will never fix a weak base game! The Sims 4 as it is now just feels like it is The Sims 1 on steroids without the fun! I really love this franchise so much and I just want the best for its future :'(
As someone that owns the complete Sims 1 collection and has replayed it recently, I would compare Sims 4 more to 2. In terms of items, 4 has a lot more than 1 and while 1 has some interesting features a lot of times you will be too busy breaking your back trying to keep your job going and needs filled. Plus CAS had that odd personality astrology thing, but no relationships and there were only two life states. Then the pathing was fairly iffy with furniture placement. I had forgotten how blocky items felt when arranging furniture, a stark comparison to 4. 1 is still an absolute gem and 4 certainly needs more base game development to be anywhere near that level, which is why I think it is unfair to measure them by each others standards: on paper, 4 can look like the infinitely superior game.
Sims 4 had easily the worst personality trait system. I made my OCs on the sims, and it was difficult to recreate their personalities in the game. I had a teen vampire who was a major coward and even scared of the dark. But Sims 4 doesn't have a coward trait or fear of the dark trait, unlike Sims 3. :)
@@lapislarka i also have The Sims 1, I play since 2002 and I know TS4 is superior. I was just trying to say TS4 is like a "reset" of this franchise that have worlds mechanics, babies as objects and ridiculous giant objects like TS1, picking some features of TS2 and TS3, only improving in cas and build tools. You kinda can put TS4 between TS1 and TS2 in timeline and it doesn't really look so weird in terms of gameplay structure. TS4 is a regression we can't deny that just adds a little flavour of the two past superior games (TS2 and TS3). As a long time fan I think nobody, no matter how some people think of TS4 now, was asking for this! I just hope TS5 to take the best of TS4 but building that with TS2/TS3 major features in mind.
The Sims 3 is still where it's at. I've been playing the Sims since the OG game was released. I've had almost every expansion for the Sims, Sims 2 and Sims 3. I got the Sims 4 for free and paid like maybe 30 dollars for some expansions and stuff packs on sale. The amount of expansions and stuff packs and garbage packs are insane and a waste of money. EA is trash. I hop on Sims 4 and feel bored after an hour. IDC about "smarter" Sims. Bring back open world's, cars, customization.
I stopped at Sims 3 with all the expansions and some stuff packs. I got Sims 4 for free and wasn't impressed with how barebones the base game is. By that time there were a lot of expansion packs already released and it was ridiculous how little new content they had in them and how they were more expensive than Sims 3's expansion packs were. EA hasn't seen a cent from me since 2013 I think. They really are a bunch of greedy bastards.
I’ve played the sims for LITERALLY my entire life, I was a lil kindergartener playing sims 1 and continued to play all of 2/3/4 and I’m sick of this. Sims 4 has been the most dissatisfying series of the game. I can’t wait for paralives!!! I’m done with EA🥱😴🙄
@@befree4052 why would you be this loyal to ea? they are a huge company and since the sims have no competitors, the franchise it's practically a monopoly, which leads them to not need to care about their customers, it's better to be loyal to indie devs
@@markly5460 Dont ask me stupid ass questions. My opinion of aesthetics has nothing to do with a damn EA. Show me anywhere in my comment in which I praised EAs customer service. Show it to me! Sometimes the sims 4 goes on sale for an incredible amount- sometimes even $5 compared to the usual $60 asking price. If you don’t want to pay for expansions or game packs to avoid supporting the company beyond that, then there’s an incredible amount of stuff packs and gameplay mods that could possibly help with that!
Choco Bear normally I’d say that too, but they have some pretty intense anti-pirating tactics. One of them for the sims 4 will make your game increasingly more pixelated until you can’t see anything on the screen anymore!
@@phospadparadschaa that doesn't happen anymore, and i've been using ZLorigin (the cracked version for Origin) for years now *edit: the only downside to a cracked game is no access to the online Gallery. But for me I just have a legit base game copy for when I want something off there
ViVi ohh ok! I didn’t realize. I’m not really too savvy with pirating, but I understand lots of fans just don’t have the money or desire to support EA (which is justified).
I can't remember the last time I played a Sims game, but these slow and relaxing videos about each of the numerous expansions are _truly_ my happy place. This is where I I go in my mind when the walls start closing in.
The NAPs feel like a feature I was fantasizing about for Sims 5, in that we could create mini neighborhoods with their own vibe, so you could create arts districts, entertainment districts, tech districts, etc. that would benefit certain careers for the sims, giving a slightly different option for community lots within, etc.
I really want a expansion where you can follow your sim to school for children. Like middle school and high school. I'd call it get to school and group the college one into it.
Ok, but why? What would you really do with it? Attend classes for 6 sim hours, choose a small smattering of options like “sleep”, “take notes”, “disrupt class” a la Sims 3 University Life, with an hour or two of normal socialization already in game, but in school. Things like projects, homework, socialization and pranks make up the gist of grade school life, and the charm of following your children to school and doing extracurriculars would end up like Get to Work- fun in theory, but the charm fades quickly becoming disappointingly repetitive. And you know that if they lumped university into this expansion, they would take out elements that make university expansions more fun.
@@zyxcba3155 Oh, I have a lot of ideas of what you could do. As a kid, you could give him/her tasks they have to do, for example get into a school clique, and if you're not successful your child gets bullied. There could be more then one clique. The geeks, the sports, the fashionistas and so on. Your ultimate goal could be to become the most popular kid, or if your Sim is the bully of the school and most feared one. And as soon as your in a clique you have to do other tasks to stay in it and stay popular. You can always become popular or unpopular based on the decisions you make. As teenagers they could have their first crush, have to vote the school speaker (Schülersprecher German) go to prom, join school projects, groups and so on. Sure school is about learning, but why does my child Sim have to gain their skill at home when they could do this in school during class?
Off the grid and beach cleaning from island living along with laundry day stuff and tiny living should have been all introduced together along with this pack.
To be honest. I lost interest in the Sims 4 ages ago. I only found myself making my own characters or fave character, cause customization was great, and a bunch of screenshots. I grew very quickly bored if I wasn't doing that. I love watching your reviews because they're always so open and honest and give me a great insight into why or why I should not waste my money on an expansion. Not once have I thrown my money into a Sims 4 stuff pack. EA REALLY wants you to forget the older Sims games exist and play their new one, because they stopped updating the older ones so they're often difficult to run on newer laptops. Or no longer available at all on Origin (heck I heard they even straight out deleted the expansions of Sims 2 on Origin for people who had bought them, not origin, actual expansions). It took me an entire year of reading forums, watching videos and talking with the Sims 2 fandom to get it to work again on my modern laptop without it crashing or flashing in pink. And to keep my game running smoothly I have to constantly refresh my computer standby memory! I'm glad I got it to work though! Sims 2 looks have aged pretty well in my opinion. And if you're not too fond of the early 2000 item styles there is plenty of CC to download (although some sites are no longer functional). Sims 3 may have aged not too well in looks, but the gameplay is absolutely amazing! I'd take gameplay over crispy graphics anytime. Plus... Sims 4 is so child proof at this point, it took so much of the quirky fun away from me. It says 12+ but admittedly I would say 6+ would be fine too.
To be fair, when they got rid of The Sims 2 on Origin, they gave the Ultimate Collection for free to everyone even if you originally only bought the base game, and it was a fairly open secret that you could contact Origin's live chat support, ask for a code, and they'd give you the Ultimate Collection even if you didn't even own The Sims 2. They stopped doing that around 2018 or so though.
@@babyboomertwerkteam5662 I know, I've got the Ultimate Collection myself. But the problem is that they stopped giving those out, never gave an explanation as to why they stopped when they wouldn't make them available any other way anymore (and are against piracy). And because they stopped updating the game, unless we play it on old PCs, the game is pretty much falling apart on the spot with pink flashing and crashing.
Agreed. 100% should have not even been it's own pack in the first place. Should have been combined with tiny living or island living. On its own, it's the dumbest ever concept for an expansion. I guess it's no different from them separating -vampires & magic realm -fitness stuff & spa day -luxury party & vintage glamour -or movie hangout, bowling night & cool kitchen stuff And etc. Gotta give it to them though. They really know how to milk fans dry, and we buy it up because it's the only life simulation game available to this caliber.
eh, your comment is the only one I'm not agreeing with, I mean they are just background NPCs, most games uses low-poly background NPCs, imagine the lag if they were some fully rendered sims though.
@@anonymousguy3111 Yeah most games use 2d sprites to save on memory. You're probably not meant to see these models this closely anyways. Probably some camera hack mod or something.
We need a patch for sharing is caring, my sim went out to eat & two npc sims were looting everything from bar chairs, TVs, & even the table we requested. I had to order food 3 times & as soon as the food was put on the table a npc would walk up & take the table & chairs 😂 ..I literally had to spend half a day going to each world & removing the action plans for sharing is caring. I have to turned off npc voting until this is fixed.

Social pressure, green living, streamer influence, “action enforcers,” candle making, no cars, veganism, etc. this is feeling more and more like the west coast with each passing expansion
The fact that I don’t even have eco lifestyle but yet I have a toilet that sets on fire when my sims use it and my sims get a negative dirty environment moodlet even though no dirt is In site or my outside trash can is dirty with trash all over it and the ground that I cannot clean because I don’t have the pact, this expansion pack comes with a lot of problems I don’t even think about buying it now.
I swear LGR is the only Sims review I EVER watch and is always the one I use to help decide if I'm getting a new pack. It's bonkers that they don't give you review codes anymore
As a person who lives in the part of the world they're basing this on - they really did a good job of it. I live in a city, but it's low-lying and industrial. The only annoyance is that the "before" houses look NOTHING like what's really on offer unless you count a few small sections of historical buildings, as most of our homes are either square or wider than they are deep. But other than that, they've nailed it. My only other gripe is that for an evergreen area, there's not a lot of ferns or trees WITHIN the city - something that is very much a thing in these areas. It's weird to say I'm from a city and that we also have five storey tall cedars and firs in my neighbour's yard, but it's true.
The Sims team heard us say we wanted the game to be more like sims 2, so they gave us a jean skirt-pants right outta 2005.
@@TheOG-GG yeah still boring, definitely not worth 40 dollars 😁

Do you want to see funny? look at the price of all DLC for sims 3 on steam
@Nub Gamer why this expansion is so cool
Specially when things like Sulani and Strangerville have their own World States, multiplying even more the quantity of world estates.
best to wait out since this pack is causing all sorts of new bugs and corrupting saves. The development team is working to stamp out the issues though
MrBowser I think it’s perfectly reasonable for $40, our expectations are just low because few dlc’s for this game actually have content worth the price.
Eco lifestyle + Tiny living + Laundry day = expansion

Having this pack follow ‘Tiny Living’ makes me think that they learned how to be sneakier after ‘My First Pet’s Stuff’ because it’s the same concept, just presented backwards. They held off so much from tiny living so it could be included in this pack but if they would’ve just kept it in I actually would’ve bought ‘Eco Living.’
Laundry also seems like it would fit the eco living style
In a way I'm glad it wasn't. We only had to spend $10 instead of $40 for this crap lol.

I agree. This pack would've been amazing if it's sold as a $20 game pack at best, not a $40 expansion pack. Some of the "huge" features are just glorified visual effects with little to no gameplay changes. Also, amazing review as always, Clint!
And some of the new features are a free patch with base game. Dont even need this new pack?
I also feel this way about island living, neither of the packs feel like expansions
Probably will only buy if on sale
I mean, the TS4 xpacs typically sell for $20 on sale less than a year after release. It basically is $20.

When you see them mentioning "EA's Game Changers" you can easily tell how many of them are sellouts
Its fake asf. We can all see through this.
I don't nr necessary think that some game changers fake their excitement, unlike lgr Sims is their life. They play it all day every day. And they can be legitimately excited over these additions. Doesn't mean it will be exciting for everyone
They are excited, because they get it for free. I would not complain too if i get expansion packs for free
The only Sims related reviewer I completely trust. Far too many shills abound...
Carl is good.
I do wonder when Paralives comes out Clint will review that game too.
it’s okay you can say deligracy and james
I don’t play sims 4. I don’t enjoy it as much as the previews games, but I never miss one of your reviews. They always make me laugh, plus they are so informative I would never consider buying a pack with watching your reviews first
When I hear a new dlc is coming I am more excited for the review than the dlc.
Thanks, I'm happy to hear it!
Same.
I can relate to that very much! Maybe there will be some day an LGR food episode as extensive as a Sims review, cause I am hungry for that! ;)
If you're hungry for more. On the LGR Blurbs channel, he has a 55 minute game play video on this(probably for the B roll and fun). It's quite enjoyable and humorous.

EA ruins everything.

Im not yet talk about the expansion pack that talk about ARCHEOLOGY & HISTORY STUFF; MILITARY STUFF; AQUARIUM&ZOO STUFF; etc

I hate being critical but at this point I shouldnt need a mod for an aunt to recognize her nephew. Like be happy to seem him or something. Right now there is no difference than a townie, with out a mod of course.
at the very least have them recognise family members so they stop flirting with each other..
We got Generations Now in TS4...and it is lackluster as usual.
What mod is that?
@@NataliaARuano that's just the problem...I don't know 😭😭
I have seen other sims players play it and it's important to know that getting your ecological footprint to industrial is very, VERY hard.
I was able to do it in about 45 minutes. Here's the video of the process:
ruclips.net/video/EsZONX96fao/видео.html

I'm from the Caribbean and the lack of turtle watching, water sports and underwater activities hit me hard.
eco living also made me regret buying city living, since evergreen harbor has 2 apartment buildings.......... in retrospect maybe i'd rather have eco living with those two awful apartments to have objects to make off-the-grid lot trait more fun with windmills and whatnot, than city living, since apartment in city living were such a let down.

Especially since the opposite isn't "Corporate" it's "Industrial" and places that look cheap are the ones that cause it- you'll get more industrial points from a Spanish style house with a lot of tile in the dessert than a mansion with carpet. It's also €39.99 in Europe - total rip-off and doesn't convert to the exchange rates because that's $45 in the US and almost $62 CAD. EA are greedy af. If I buy any of the DLC, I wait until it's on sale.. but thank goodness for cc and mods or I'd be so done with TS4 now.

there are 2 things that I really love about The Sims 4:
lgr and Call Me Kevin
Probably why Seasons is still one of the best ones since you'll always see it affecting your game.
finally, a reliable review on this pack
Zyxcba definitely agree it can be rly off putting especially coming from someone who doesn’t even have to pay for it
Zyxcba Kayla is probably the most biased, when she looked at paralives she had a completley negative mindset about it even though it seems paralives is going to be an amazing game, but then she cries over LADDERS, something that we should’ve had in the base game.
Island living is not worth $40 either. 😭 Definitely would be way more worth it with one of these mixed into one or even better, all 3
EA: your wish was granted. Here Snowy Escape pack for you.

Totally agree with you. Clint is the only honest one about these packs. *cough, cough* James Turner's channel for example.. 😖
Carl has been great lately too. His recent videos on the issues with the bug houses and the eco footprint system were really honest and informative!
I wouldn't say only but definitely the most honest of them all.

The soft irony of the real computer sucking down electricity to play it, amuses me.
Good catch 😉

Even though i'm gonna pass this pack since i couldn't care less about eco lifestyle as a game, i'm gonna admit the trailler made it seems it was 40$ only to pick up trash and the pack has a lot more to offer. EA should get rid of the person responsable for that.
I thought it was a game pack honestly as I just didn't see half this stuff. And if they'd showed everything maybe i would think its worth it but it still isn't much for what i can buy full games for
Did you miss the point that you can take on the challenge and make it apokalyptic aka industrial so it doesn't have to completely eco.
Pop Quiz did you see in the video when Clint explained that no matter how hard you try, your gAme will remain neutral or green for the most part?
Welcome to EA, may I take your order?
What's wrong with having negative stuff to the experience? The Sims 4 has a really bland, utopian theme with everyone accepting each other for who they are in a life simulator where it's the complete opposite in actual real life practice. Every negative aspect that happens through chance in other Sims games has been lowered tremendously in Sims 4.
I miss the parody or mocking of the mindless, blind consumerism theme (similar to Fight Club) in the first 2 Sims games. Rather than this utopian like society you find in Sims 4.
@@Yasin06x I don't know what that is. I'm just a real big fan of the series since the Sims 2.
Exactly. That’s been the case since way back. I remember when I was still in to The Sims 3 years ago the first time I added a washer and dryer, and all of a sudden Sims started leaving their clothes EVERYWHERE. If you don’t buy a washer and dryer, you don’t have to worry about it.

It's a one time payment for this pack, and it does affect other sims worlds and it added a more open world concept to the game as far as Evergreen harbor.

Same, I've played all the Sims (1-4) for years, personally Sims 2 & 3 were amazing.
EA does suck but I will always be loyal to the sims even if a pack isnt good lol
Why? Sims is the product of a company that you pay money for. It's a transaction; not a friendship.
@Java Monsoon Exactly. Why hype up a game that doesn't even have a release date?
There's no way it can live up to those expectations.
That ability to place windows and doors anywhere is pretty cool. It almost makes me want to get TS4, if it wasn't for it being so EAish.
Sometimes the sims 4 goes on sale for an incredible amount- sometimes even $5 compared to the usual $60 asking price. If you don’t want to pay for expansions or game packs to avoid supporting the company beyond that, then there’s an incredible amount of stuff packs and gameplay mods that could possibly help with that!
or just download it for free o/
Choco Bear normally I’d say that too, but they have some pretty intense anti-pirating tactics. One of them for the sims 4 will make your game increasingly more pixelated until you can’t see anything on the screen anymore!
@@phospadparadschaa that doesn't happen anymore, and i've been using ZLorigin (the cracked version for Origin) for years now

YES! I've been wanting that in the sims for forever, but I don't think it'll happen in the sims 4. Probs be sims 5..
modders got you covered
The is a very good mod called literally exactly that. It requires Get to Work but works well!
Dumpster babies, there is a Sims challenge in there somewhere.....
You know a company is greedy when a addition costs nearly as much as the product itself.

100% should have been a game pack
Agreed. 100% should have not even been it's own pack in the first place. Should have been combined with tiny living or island living. On its own, it's the dumbest ever concept for an expansion. I guess it's no different from them separating
-vampires & magic realm
-fitness stuff & spa day
-luxury party & vintage glamour
-or movie hangout, bowling night & cool kitchen stuff
And etc.
Gotta give it to them though. They really know how to milk fans dry, and we buy it up because it's the only life simulation game available to this caliber.
2:33 Jesus Christ! Are those actual graphics in a modern game? Damn, they must really be getting lazy.
eh, your comment is the only one I'm not agreeing with, I mean they are just background NPCs, most games uses low-poly background NPCs, imagine the lag if they were some fully rendered sims though.

40$ for this? I dont even remember the last time I invested 40 hours into one Sims 4 expansion.
I remember in the Sims 3 days when they had more lots in the world than the price of the pack ;-;
