Island Living was a game pack marketed and sold as an expansion. It was not worth $40 as there just wasn’t enough new gameplay to it. DU definitely improves on that. It’s a proper expansion and I’ve really enjoyed it. I just hope there aren’t *too* many future packs still to come. After 5 years of this game, shouldn’t EA be thinking about TS5 by now? In Denmark, university is not only free, but the state also pays you to study, so you don't have to work while doing your degree. So yes, very different.

I came across your channel back in either 2010 or 2011 when I was looking for a review on one of the early Sims 3 packs. At that time I wasn't looking for anything in particular other than someone to tell me what was in the expansion and if it was good. Well you filled that requirement and more by not only being informative but by also being hilarious. After that you were my dedicated Sims person and since 2010 or 11 I would go to your channel exclusively when I wanted to know about the new games. Well as the years have gone on I've gotten more and more into the Sims so now I watch other channels as well to figure out tricks and hacks and watch build videos and all that. But until super recently I only ever watched your videos when it came to reviewing the new games,noone else's, but since they've taken away your early review privileges because you were pointing out genuine issues, and since I'm more on top of getting the games as soon as they get out I have started to watch other reviews. I've got to say that I was super lucky to discover you as the first Sims review channel because even to this day your content is leagues and leagues above everyone else's and even if the review isn't positive you always make me laugh. Most realistic moment I've had in Discover University was my sim's classes being 5 minutes apart and on the other side of campus. Reminded me of the good old days of racing across an entire park that spanned several city blocks to get to a class.

I’m actually glad that the classes are rabbit holes as the outside class part sounds so stressful with being hungry all the time, not having enough money and having to do all the studying and HW. Going to class just adds more work for the player so when I get the pack I will get stressed out to get to class on time and study enough so when my Sim goes to class I can just relax for a bit.
You know what- I don’t even play sims anymore, I just watch your reviews because your voice is nostalgic and reminds me of times I waited on your review so I can buy the next sims 3 expansion. But this review is giving me terrible flashbacks. I’ve been out of college for a year now and this addition of loans, book fees, and microwave/cafe food is making me feel physically ill 🥴. Almost hitting too close to home but I guess that means it’ll be one of the better expansions. Edit: still not buying it though.
Lol the sims disappear when walking into the rabbit hole buildings. WHY TF, the rabbit holes in Sims 3 you see them actually opening the door and walking in. Little details like that piss me off about the Sims 4.

When I had sims 3 the university expansion was my absolute fave, so naturally I was excited when this one came out for TS4. My god I've never been so disappointed and annoyed at the money I spent. The concept of uni life is nothing without the open world we were treated to in TS3. Almost no point in playing since my loading times between every place take 30 seconds each, and I ended up taking my sim out of uni on the third day to return to their life as a shut-in. All I'm hoping now is that EA sees what we've all been saying for years and applies it to the sims 5 when they make that :////// big meh. Thanks LGR for your dedication the the series even though churning out lazy doo-doo is all the franchise seems to be interested in these days!
That moment when LGR makes me straight up feel like a senior citizen. Thank god this young whippersnapper helps me decide what packs to buy. (Okay, LBR I eventually buy them all anyway because I'm in a constant state of MUST COMPLETE THE ENTIRE SET but that's not LGR's fault.)
Although I admit I'm not really into The Sims so I'm not the best judge of these things, but I never understood the whole wanting cars thing. What actual purpose would a car have in the game since you basically teleport to places that aren't in walking distance anyway. It'd end being more of a cosmetic addition, unless they made a whole expansion dedicated to it that completely overhauled the transportation aspect of the game. Now a whole new car themed expansion I could understand and if done right could be awesome IMO. They could call it "The Sims: Road Trip" and be all about cars, going on road trips and traveling with them (Maybe even include public transportation), getting driving/car related jobs (Bus Driver/Mechanic), etc. Talking about it now, I'm actually pretty surprised they never done something like that before..

I really like Discover University. My sim is in the Distinguished Degree History program at University of Britechester. I only have one semester left, and I live on campus. Don't forget to apply for scholarships(a tip is to max out on a lot of skills, as many scholarships are based on skills)

This pack was my favorite since seasons. It added a necessary difficulty element to the gym, and yes there are bugs, but this is the first sims pack where I can ignore said bugs because it’s so good
Me a college student very often use the sims to procrastinate homework, i got university and at one point i was making my do homework and study to the max while not having done any of that myself, and that i the game play i LOVE.
So I can ignore my 42 thousand dollars of IRL student debt to relive a simulation of college and accumulate another 40K of virtual college debt? Sounds perfect!
yeah in the sims 3 the were really creative honestly, they made like a 4 completely unique expansion which no one really expect, and even with a returning expansion they'v shaked things up a bit, but in sims 4 they're straight up lazy and even split one expansion into two (sims 3 late night, that one expansion is still better than city living and get famous combined tho)
Have you ever done a tally of how much you have invested in The Sims 4? It would be fun to have a cash counter that increases with each new video. Fun for us, I mean.
Here’s a tip for everybody if you want packs but don’t want to spend so much money. DON’T BUY DIRECTLY FOR ORIGIN. I made that mistake and spent WAY more than I could’ve. Third party sites like mercari and ebay sell expansion packs, brand new and sealed for $20 or less. Then you can apply the code and it links the pack to your origin account. Or if you’d like to buy it directly from origin every few months they have sales on the sims packs, for up to 50% off! It’s a great way to save money, I NEVER buy the packs for full price and I bought the base game for around $6 last year from origin.
Sims Machinema The only reason I can only get to 4 Generations in 3 is because it won’t load after that point... 4 requires playing it, which isn’t fun.

You know what- I don’t even play sims anymore, I just watch your reviews because your voice is nostalgic and reminds me of times I waited on your review so I can buy the next sims 3 expansion. But this review is giving me terrible flashbacks. I’ve been out of college for a year now and this addition of loans, book fees, and microwave/cafe food is making me feel physically ill 🥴. Almost hitting too close to home but I guess that means it’ll be one of the better expansions.
Edit: still not buying it though.

Lol the sims disappear when walking into the rabbit hole buildings. WHY TF, the rabbit holes in Sims 3 you see them actually opening the door and walking in. Little details like that piss me off about the Sims 4.

Don't forget the expansion packs that cost a minimum of 60 dollars and add a single chair!

I actually like The Sims 4 University better because of that it has that extra feel tension which I love

When I had sims 3 the university expansion was my absolute fave, so naturally I was excited when this one came out for TS4. My god I've never been so disappointed and annoyed at the money I spent. The concept of uni life is nothing without the open world we were treated to in TS3. Almost no point in playing since my loading times between every place take 30 seconds each, and I ended up taking my sim out of uni on the third day to return to their life as a shut-in. All I'm hoping now is that EA sees what we've all been saying for years and applies it to the sims 5 when they make that :////// big meh. Thanks LGR for your dedication the the series even though churning out lazy doo-doo is all the franchise seems to be interested in these days!

Thank god this young whippersnapper helps me decide what packs to buy. (Okay, LBR I eventually buy them all anyway because I'm in a constant state of MUST COMPLETE THE ENTIRE SET but that's not LGR's fault.)

Although I admit I'm not really into The Sims so I'm not the best judge of these things, but I never understood the whole wanting cars thing. What actual purpose would a car have in the game since you basically teleport to places that aren't in walking distance anyway. It'd end being more of a cosmetic addition, unless they made a whole expansion dedicated to it that completely overhauled the transportation aspect of the game.
Now a whole new car themed expansion I could understand and if done right could be awesome IMO. They could call it "The Sims: Road Trip" and be all about cars, going on road trips and traveling with them (Maybe even include public transportation), getting driving/car related jobs (Bus Driver/Mechanic), etc. Talking about it now, I'm actually pretty surprised they never done something like that before..

They look cool, they let me spend money when I have too much, they overcompensate for my Sims' gaping insecurities. With all the luxury furniture stuffs in the Sims 4 being nothing more than a way to create a sense of progression and, cough, player satisfaction and fantasy fulfillment, why not cars? Although it has to be said that a car functioning like a statue is very disappointing to me. Nevertheless, i won't be playing TS4 so this doesn't affect me
@@incognitoburrito6020 Yeah, they can have a ton of car options, garages for houses, pimping out the cars, and maybe even a map designed for car races (with a car racer career?) and let you show off your car to impress other sims.

I really like Discover University. My sim is in the Distinguished Degree History program at University of Britechester. I only have one semester left, and I live on campus. Don't forget to apply for scholarships(a tip is to max out on a lot of skills, as many scholarships are based on skills)

This pack was my favorite since seasons. It added a necessary difficulty element to the gym, and yes there are bugs, but this is the first sims pack where I can ignore said bugs because it’s so good

yeah in the sims 3 the were really creative honestly, they made like a 4 completely unique expansion which no one really expect, and even with a returning expansion they'v shaked things up a bit, but in sims 4 they're straight up lazy and even split one expansion into two (sims 3 late night, that one expansion is still better than city living and get famous combined tho)

Here’s a tip for everybody if you want packs but don’t want to spend so much money. DON’T BUY DIRECTLY FOR ORIGIN. I made that mistake and spent WAY more than I could’ve. Third party sites like mercari and ebay sell expansion packs, brand new and sealed for $20 or less. Then you can apply the code and it links the pack to your origin account. Or if you’d like to buy it directly from origin every few months they have sales on the sims packs, for up to 50% off! It’s a great way to save money, I NEVER buy the packs for full price and I bought the base game for around $6 last year from origin.

I know no one will care but my favourite Aussie artist, Mallrat, was asked to record a simlish version of her absolutely amazing song “Charlie” for the University soundtrack and it’s amazing. Simlish versions of songs are always so weird and yet, so charming haha
