I got this game from a book fair in elementary school. Played it on windows vista lol. First half of the mission worked but then it would become very choppy. Like stop motion choppy. Like it would be a still frame for about 5 seconds then it would be another of me about 400 feet further from the first one. I figured out how to play it though. Made Kills in stop motion. Completed missions in stop motion. Crashed endlessly in stop motion. Good time.
Thanks for posting your game experience David. Way back when before I knew anything about computer games I had similar game play. More powerful computers now a days run these older games without issue. I have played this game since it first came out. It is constantly updated by a big following of player geeks that are my heros.
A few notes: The water appears to be the very same texture set in use for many years. The high cloud texture here is no different than the type in use, again, for many years, with numerous variants. It appears to be a 1024 pixel image; these days 2048 pixel textures are becoming the norm. The cockpit has the updated smooth-curved canopy and extra frame bars in the forward sidelights. But the ancient (2004-ish), stock horror of a gunsight is still present! (My very first 3D model, back in 2014, was a more correct N-2A sight to replace this travesty in the F4F-3.) Those ships seemed to be too quickly damaged by gunfire. And it was odd to see an illumination flash on the water without a corresponding explosive flash or fireball. (Yeah, I'm an effects nerd. ;) ) Hearing bullet hits against objects when close enough has been a feature probably since day one of this game. How well heard depends on the setting for outside sound level attenuation in conf.ini.
It is the British version of the Grumman F4F Wildcat, they named it the "Martlet" Mi, 2, and 3. They later used the F6F in carrier operations. Thanks for watching.

@@callsignnictmere465 heard that. Will look back into it.
@@callsignnictmere465 I'm confident the problems i experienced were due to the dumpster fire that was windows vista. Not the game itself.
VPmedia is a very talented guy. I dont know why the heck was he banned from SAS. Glad he keeps working in IL2.

is VPmodpack compatible with BAT or it's a totally different "ambient"?
They are two seperate mods. I run both they are that good, but It is not necessary.

Ships seem to be too easily destroyed by guns
Jim you are right all of the supply ships can be sunk with machine gun fire. I have never been able to sink a navy destroyer with guns.
What mission is this?
It is one i created using the games mission builder. What version of the game do you run?
@@callsignnictmere465 I'm running VP 1.2 on 4.12.2
@@gh0801 Very good VP is one of the best mods out there. This is a mission I created using the games full mission builder.
@@callsignnictmere465 Ah ok, i'll have a look at working out the mission editor. Is the Martlet you used a mod or just a reskinned F4F-3?
