Yes, yes and yes. We see the performative activism, we see the fetishising of our people by sooo many brands. Super creepy.

Representation doesn't matter, the only thing that does matter is who's got talent, you can't just hire someone just because they're black or just because of there race, talent matters more then skin color, if all your focusing on is what race or what color that person is it doesn't show that your not the racist that you claim your not being, it just shows that your being a different kind of racist, there are 2 types of people in this world, single out people because there members of a minority and not single out people because there members of a minority, I choose to be neither and just show mutual respect for everybody without focusing on what race that person is. And for you to focus on race and not talent it just shows that your not the racist the you claim your not it just shows that your being a different kind of racist.

I think you're totally misunderstanding why and how representation matters. It's not about getting hired. It's not about focusing on race or color. And It's not that talent doesn’t matter. It's just about seeing that it's even possible to pursue a job or career. For example, a black woman in the 50s might be very interested in science more medicine but would never think of pursuing that career because it just didn’t seem possible. If you've never seen a black woman doctor, not in your family, not in your community, not on TV or in a movie or a commercial it doesn’t even seem like a possibility. When you’re a kid and you see someone that looks like you doing that job it seems like a possibility to that you could do that job.

Representation does matter because it makes black children feel less ugly since the beautiful princess is always depicted as a pale person on the internet
