So I watched this after doing gel nails for the first time and they literally peeled after 1.5 days… turns out I did literally every thing wrong LMAO 🤣🤣🤣
I never thought I’d be watching videos on how to keep my gel polish on longer. Lol but here I am, and thank you, thank you for all these wonderful tips of advice! 😊
I haven’t even watched the whole video yet but I already want to say I’m so happy I found you 😂 been doing my own with a UV lamp for over a year and they’ve only lasted a couple of days, I knew I must be doing something wrong! Going to attempt them again later with my new found knowledge. Hopefully you’ve saved me! 😅 💖
Such a helpful, informative video. I love how you explained the reasons behind everything, thank you 😊 going to gel my nails this morning using these techniques
I’d appreciate an update on applying gel nail polish at home. When should I wipe the tacky reside from my nail and should I do this after ever coat? Do I cap after every coat and How long to cure my nail polish? Love the videos as a new subscriber and look forward to more Thanks
Hi, as mentioned in the video there is another video on my channel (linked in the info bar) that shows you step by step how to apply gel Polish. All your questions are answered there x
I have been doing my nails for many years at home but your tips are very helpful ! Next time I will try things differently and will be back for feedback. Thank you for this video ☀️
VERY helpful! I love my gel nails, but, do think I have been getting too close to my skin! They've been peeling within 1 week around the left/right edges. Thank you, I will try my best to correct! Joyce/Texas
Also I add another layer of the cheap and brilliant ARTE CLAVO basecoat in layers. And 5-8 layers of a good topcoat. Yes 8 topcoats! You have to "encase" the gel polish against knocks and chips! I used Collection 2000 Solar topcoat, its rubber based and bendy pliable for your nails! And an OPI topcoat! Yes 8 topcoats! UK 🇬🇧 23.11.23
Please do a new gel nails video at home as I loved your last one. Do you ever do nail extension ? And have you tried biab, my natural nails grew so long with it but I ended up trimming them and doing extensions 😊 💅🏽 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽💕💕
Aw thank you 💕 There’s not much point in doing another video currently as it’s the same tutorial and technique really 😊 I don’t really wear extensions as my natural nails grow so long! But biab is great for added strength if you can be bothered with the infills/removals haha I’m lazy 😆xax
I have had several issues with gel and even glues from sticking to my nail if getting extensions the last couple of years. I have not done them myself I always gone to a salon and even tried different salons. I’ve had the same color used on fingers and toes and the fingers always lift or chip off in 1-3 days. Could this be related to having a Thyroid condition?
Hmmm thyroid conditions can cause issues with your hair and nails so it could possibly be the cause - especially if you’re having a professional application x
I tried this last night and I have an issue biting my nails so thats my problem, and I easily scrape off the gel polish and ruin my nails. Last night I decided I would keep my nails out of my mouth 😬🥲 and this morning both of my nails were still chipped and I did everything u said carefully last night..
I’m not sure without knowing which lamp you’re using and which products lovely 💕 there should be instructions specific to your lamp model though that might advise?x
Which brand of polish do you have and which lamp? It should tell you in the instructions the curing time as it’s important to follow each individual brands ‘rules’ for best results 🩷🩷🩷
So I’m deff having the chipping issue and then noticing that it lifts super easy like it was never seal . Idk what I’m doing wrong from what you mentioned other than maybe washing too many dishes lol but when I get them done at the salon they never lift like that even with my chores ! Could it be the brand ? Is over curing a thing ? I currently use the beetle brand with their light I prep my nails even use a dehydrator and a nail primer before base and I swear they start coming off the next day !! So annoying !!! I also cure for 120 secs reason why I ask if maybe I’m over curing ! Please help me !!!! Btw my toes always last and I do the exact same thing prepping wise
Not everyone needs a dehydrator - does the same happen without that? Also could be the brand or technique or curing times - over I’ve not used beetle personally but just make sure you’re following all the steps properly and take it back to basics 🩷🤗
My gel polish is keep peeling off but only from the nail extension i did in real hands when i do it in practice nails it didn't peel off 😭 why is this happening??? 😭
I did my gel nails last night -woke up to one nail completely lifting off and sore -think more nail came off with the gel ! Then later today all the nails lifted off ! They are v sore so put on normal polish !! My nail brand is different to nail lamp so that might be the issue !
Hi, I’m using mylee gel and for some reason it keeps on lifting in the middle of my two big toes only. The small toes are fine. The left one is particularly bad and I did it 3 times. I watched your video and made sure I’m doing everything correctly. I don’t know what’s wrong with it. In the end I took them all off and went to a nail salon 😢 What do you think is happening? Thank you 🙏 x
Very hard to tell really without seeing application and your nails tbh but it could be something as simple as the shape of your toes if they rub on your shoes more? 🤷🏼♀️ x
Hard to say without seeing them or knowing your full process lovely 🤗 Are you building a tip with forms and a gel builder? Are you prepping the extension before gel application? And Are you avoiding all these common mistakes when applying your gel on top? xax
Will test it out with thinner capping. It ends up thick after capping multiple layers. Not sure which layers are most important to cap on the free edge to keep it capped but not too thick. Suggestions, please?
I never got my nails done like this but it lasted me 2+ weeks then when the polish was peeling off on 2 nails my dad told me to peel it off but I think that was a bad decision 😭😭 idk what I should di
Definitely don’t peel off gel. You can soak them off with acetone - have a Google for videos on safe gel removal or head back to the salon and they can do it 🤗
So I watched this after doing gel nails for the first time and they literally peeled after 1.5 days… turns out I did literally every thing wrong LMAO 🤣🤣🤣
Oops! 🙈 maybe my how to do gel nails video might be helpful for your second go 🤗💕 best of luck! Avoid that skin!!!xax

Wearing rubber gloves has made such a difference to my nails lasting! I wear them whenever I do the dishes etc and the longevity is so noticeable.
Yessss! Such a simple hack but it works!xax

I don't even wear gel nails but I still watched! I have zero dexterity so I tend to stick with nail wraps instead. Gel nails do look so pretty though!
Fair play - I can’t do wraps at ALL 😆xax
Ahh! I do a lot of washing up, that definitely explains why the nails come off quicker! At least in part anyway lol! Thanks for the video Amelia!! Xx
Gloves gloves gloves!xax

How long should you cure most gel polishes? Does leaving your nails under an LED lamp for too long cause any problems? Thank you for your help!💝
I always use suncream because it’s UV. You can also get gloves. Go by the instructions for each polish for curing times 🩷

Yes very handy tips… you nailed it 😂🎉
😉😉😉
Is beetle not a good brand? Cuz I do all the things she’s talking about but mine still chips! I thought gel was supposed to last 2 weeks😫
Suscribed I don't know why if I do my nails it smudges or take long to dry when I'm not using Lamp or led 🤷♀️
Do you mean when you use regular nail polish? Because that does take quite a while to dry x
My nail polish says "UV GEL POLISH SOAK OFF" & I used an LED lamp. Can it only be cured under a UV lamp in this case?
I tried this last night and I have an issue biting my nails so thats my problem, and I easily scrape off the gel polish and ruin my nails. Last night I decided I would keep my nails out of my mouth 😬🥲 and this morning both of my nails were still chipped and I did everything u said carefully last night..
Sorry to hear that lovely - did you follow my application video?x
What if you have a UV/LED light? Which directions should I follow for the amount of time to cure? Is longer better, or?
I’m not sure without knowing which lamp you’re using and which products lovely 💕 there should be instructions specific to your lamp model though that might advise?x
I have the same ? I’d also like to know if I should wipe the tacky residue between each coat, before curing.
Your puppy is SOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!
Awww thank you haha
Hand sanitizer takes them off too. I work in the health field and my nails barely last a week.
Ah yes - I spose it’s alcohol based right?
How long do you usually cure 1 coat of polish with a UV lamp? Also what does it mean if I have a UV LED lamp? How long do I cure with that?
Which brand of polish do you have and which lamp? It should tell you in the instructions the curing time as it’s important to follow each individual brands ‘rules’ for best results 🩷🩷🩷
I learned sooo much from this thankyouuu 🎉❤
Ah I’m so glad! 🤗🥰
What about a UV/LED lamp? How do i know how long to cure?
Depends on your polish and what the instructions are for that brand

Even when I cap my free edge , it still chips sometimes, specifically at the free edge. Is this because it’s too think at the free edge?
Hi! Yes it could be, try to go really easy with the polish there
So where is the link to how to correctly apply the nail polish? 🤔
In the info box but you can also just head to my channel and find all my nail videos there 💕

I struggle with my gelx breaking I wear long nails and they break after 5 days maybe it the full cover tips I’m using.
Not a tips or gelx user personally I’m afraid so I can’t help with this one! Sorry lovely xxx
Do you cap EVERY coat?
You can do! 🤗
My lamp says uvled lol does that mean it’s both?
Mine too so now I’m curious.
Without seeing it it’s tricky to tell but I believe that means it’s LED lights that emit UV. So it’s technically LED, I think!

why do my gel nails lift up very quickly on my thumbs? i've tried everything and all my other nails are fine and last longer
Are you using your thumbs a lot for things? Using them to open bits or for something in your job maybe?x
I do gel extensions and I’ve been noticing that the gel and the colour will pop off but not the extension tip I have laid down, why is this ?
Hard to say without seeing them or knowing your full process lovely 🤗 Are you building a tip with forms and a gel builder? Are you prepping the extension before gel application? And Are you avoiding all these common mistakes when applying your gel on top? xax
Thank you very much for sharing. I’m so guilty of overload on the side walls 😞.I just always spread out to much. 😂👍🏻🇬🇧💛🤍
A bit less product on your brush should sort that out 😊 best of luck lovely!
Even with capped nails, the capped part under the nail pops off after a day or so. Why is this happening? How to fix?
How thickly are you doing it? If it’s big blobs under the nail that could be a reason?xax
Will test it out with thinner capping. It ends up thick after capping multiple layers. Not sure which layers are most important to cap on the free edge to keep it capped but not too thick. Suggestions, please?
