  • How to Perfectly Paint the Cuticle Area/Base of the Nail
    In this second part of the three part series on how to perfectly paint a nail, we dig deep into the variables. What shape brush does your nail polish have and how does that affect how you paint the base shape of your nail. We talk about round and square nail bases and the best techniques for painting them with different shaped brushes. In the next, final video of the series we will discuss the best way to avoid streaky, uneven polish on the rest of the nail plate.

    My fingers are rounded, & my thumbs are square, so you're not the only one. You ARE the only one (that I've found at least) to make these clear tutorials covering things I've always wanted clarified, but never knew who to ask, so THANK YOU!!!

      Yes, I also have different shaped nail beds. I prefer nude shades for that reason, but when the difference in shape is looking odd- I will leave small area on side of certain nails un-painted to create slight optical illusion. (I heard this suggested in another video, and found it helpful actually!)

      I don't have different shaped nail beds, but I do get nail polish on a skin often. I recommend getting a brush, dip it in nail polish remover, and then clean off the nail polish that is on the skin. Sharp or small brushes are probably best for this. If this doesn't work, I'd also recommend a peel-off cuticle guard to peel off any polish that is not on the nail when you are finished. It might take a bit of practice or a few tries to get it perfectly on the cuticle, but you'll get it eventually. Also, the cuticle guard might have a weird smell, that's normal.

    3 things.
    1) do people really not paint straight?
    2) your example is difficult to picture myself doing as a lefty
    3) I almost never paint my nails, they chip instantly and they're brittle

    • @JulieVentura
      @JulieVentura  Месяц назад

      I’m a lefty! I tend to flip the footage since most people are righties but I’m working on some more content that caters to both so everyone can have an easier time following along. Sorry about that!
      Yes, a lot of people use their wrists and paint the base area by turning the brush instead of painting straight.
      Definitely try applying some cuticle oil or nail oil to your full nail after polishing them and waiting till they’re fully dry! This makes the polish more flexible so it bends with your nail instead of chipping off. I apply at least once a day and it extends the life of your polish mani significantly and keeps your nails healthy by balancing the water retention!
