Hello and good evening Lieblingsnachbarin. Berlin is the coolest city in Germany 😁 As long as the work as a balance and you are doing all that stuff with a good feeling everything is okay. Working hard for something is okay, but the proportionality must be okay and it shouldn't go into dependency relationship. The rules for hiring kids and teenagers are very strict in Germany and Austria, especially with the working hours. Experience in cases like that are very important.
Hi! I'm currently an Au Pair in Germany since September this year and I was nodding throughout the whole video lol I was quite worried about the money issue, and wondered what side income were you having? Did you had a remote job or did you work during your free time? PS: I really enjoyed so much your video and the way you talk! It was so soothing and calming to know some more about other Au Pairs in Germany experiences!
Hi! I taught english on the side. It was just something informal that I did twice a week with the same students. Glad you enjoyed and I hope you'e having a great au pair experience!
Thank you so much for the video! The best one I’ve seen on this topic. Btw, funnily enough, like your host family, I speak Russian (it’s my native language), so I’m currently looking for eng-de family to use both languages on a daily basis.
Thanks for watching! I think you'll have no problem finding Russian/German speaking families in Berlin or other big cities! The family I worked for knew and were friends with a lot of other Russian families 😁
Great video! Sprechen Sie gut Deutsch? Wenn ja, wie haben Sie gelernt? Danke. 🙂 I live in California and have been learning for years and it's always cool to find out how others from the States learned German.
@@KendraAshanti Es ist eine lange Geschichte! LOL. Ich habe gelernt, wegen einem Freund. Er war schweizer Deutsch. Anfangs, habe ich vor 20 Jahre Deutsch an UCLA Extension gelernt. Yes! I would recommend going through an au pair agency if you want to make sure you are 100% safe. They pair you with a family and serve as a resource if you have a problem with your family and need to be rematched. I didn't use one, but I would have if I had known about them.
@@KendraAshanti thanks so much for replying that sounds great I will research about it.Also can men become au pairs ?? Plus after Au pair I want to continue living in Germany for a social year or something then for uni and for the social year do you need money to be paid after the au pair ?? I mean should we bring money as Au Pairs to Germany or is it okay to go without as the host will pay. thanks so much if you reply .you are sweet
Of course! You are only expected to do light cleaning and cooking. I would at least learn some basics though and be upfront with your family about what you are and aren't comfortable with.

It's so hard to find other Americans who speak German, nice to meet you!
Maybe you follow this guy. He is learning German and makes youtube videos about it nearly every day:

I left after my contract ended, then I came back to Germany after two years of working in New York .

Hello! Im so sorry if I missed this in your video, but did you go through a program or agency?
I searched on my own using AuPair World.
Is one able to study a degree online and be an au pair
Not for a German university. You need a separate visa to enroll in a degree program.
@@KendraAshanti oh okay thank you 💕
Hahahaha, oh the memories! How much of that monthly 260€ were you spending on waffles??
ENTIRELY TOO MUCH
I always wondered what an au pair really did...now I know :). Nice video.
Thanks Jay!
Are you miss jay of America's next top model?
my dear wife was an aupair, you have food and housing . be careful with money , it will help you later, smile
Coming to a foreign country without a job is the worst what you can do!
I know 😕 unfortunately schools in Berlin only let you interview face to face at the time.

How to apply for Aupairs
Au Pair World has some very useful information and you can even find a family there.
www.aupairworld.com/en/become-an-au-pair
Can a guy become an Au pair?
Yes!
Can a guy who hasn't taken care of kids, doesn't know how to cook and clean, work as an au-pair? 😂 Happy for you though, good video.
Of course! You are only expected to do light cleaning and cooking. I would at least learn some basics though and be upfront with your family about what you are and aren't comfortable with.
Friends of mine in the UK only ever had male au-pairs. They have boy twins (now teenagers) and they thought it went well.
Wow you are a beautyful woman, i wish i could marry you.
