Hey there, for your basecoat did you just use drywall compound? Then diamond veneer with water for top coat? Thanks!

I used “Imperial” base coat. Then Diamond veneer.
You could use another brand other than Imperial. But t the base coat must have sand as an aggregate in it.

Great video! A plaster section covering the brick party wall in my unit seems to have broke off and separated from the brick. I removed the loose section and I am planning to use plaster again to restore the original feel of the apt. Another challenge would be to ensure the new plaster section is flush with the old section! Any recommendations on what the best approach would be greatly appreciated.

Sure thing, remove the plaster that is loose, it will be dusty, so you need something to bond the plaster to the chimney, Plaster Weld is a good product or Quickrete bonding agent. Basically it is PVA glue(carpenter glue) thinned down. Paint that on and you’ll create a bond between old and new.
You can go two ways, use plaster or Gypsum products. If it is a small area I would use Gypsum, only because it will be hard to find small quantities of the kinds of plaster. Scratch coat, base coat and veneer coat all in 50 # bags . Most hardware stores sell, two kinds are Easy Sand or Durabond the product comes in minutes it takes to solidify. So 20 minute Easy Sand is a good start.
Use Sheetrock tools or plaster tools to apply. Build in levels to make it flush
If your thickness is greater than 3/4”-1” then I would use a metal large and secure it to the brick after you paint the brick

I have a question about the diamond plaster finish wall damage from water leak. It's hard to find good information about this. We had the walls done with the whole metal base mesh, coating, etc., and a few months later we had a water leak that was hard to fix and as a result we ended up with a stained diamond plaster in that area. Our contractor said to paint over it, but then you will see the difference between the beautiful, satin finish diamond plaster, and the paint. Can the veneer coat be applied on top of the diamond plaster? The plaster has not bubbled or flaked or cracked, it's just badly stained.

I think you need to address the stain first by painting a coast of oil based primer stain blocker, like Zinzer high hide oil base stain and then you could put another veneer coat over so that you would have your desired look

Great video. Did you use Diamond Veneer for the final coat or a Durabond product?

I used Diamond Veneer. It’s like cake icing

Durabond is not a finish plaster , it’s to strengthen the coat before you use unikal , diamond is weak and takes to long to set

What bonding agent do you use? Do you apply bonding agent to your drywall first as well?

I use Plaster Weld or Durabond. They are basically carpenter glue thinned with water(that’s how they do it in England.
Plaster Weld is pink so you can see where you paint it on.

There are three layers of plaster
Scratch coat, base coat and veneer coat. I bought structural light from Lowe’s , but had to buy a pallet (48 bags ) 50 lb bag which covers about 20 sq ft on the wall. $15 per bag
Imperial , the base coat and Diamond , I bought from Ace hardware, imperial covered about 40 sq ft and Diamond covered about 80 sq ft they both cost about the same.
