Blair completely read that right on the third game when the first 15K came up. The board was a bad board other than the 15k so she realized everyone was going to be playing lower number cards cause they figured she was just going to slam the 30. Great move by Blair.
Yea she shld have played a higher card bt she probably forgot that sully lowest card is a 14 left. And also if she rly put a 19, she might still lose it to sully who can play higher than 19. Okay jst rewatch that part and agreed she shld hav play a way higher number than 7
Had she played the 30 she would have gotten 15 +12 + 3 = 30. Now she got a 15 + 7 + 7, which is surprisingly close. A minimum 6k difference between playing it and playing any other card makes playing the space station the no-brainer move. You don't get a better deal than that.
@@Gufnorkiannot necessarily. She knew another 15K card was coming that meant she could play a lower card that would hopefully still be higher than everyone else's and have a better chance at grabbing both of them.
This is one of my favorite fillers. I've got a newer version by IELLO which has paper money. The rule for passing in that version is that you round up the money you get from passing. I like it better that way since you're able to stay in the auctions longer since you usually have more money, no more turns where 4 out of 6 people pass in a row because they have so little money for bidding left. It also makes it strategic to always bid odd numbers except if you think you'll win the auction.
@@ChunKyPiglets_Pro I think so, but just in case, here's how much money each player starts with at each player count in my rulebook: 3 players: 28 4 players: 21 5 players: 16 6 players: 14
Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer did a Masterchef sketch with Vic playing Lloyd Grossman. I won't disturb you with the details, they would only disturb you.
I don't understand why anyone who starts the buying phase would take the low card rather than just bid one. You guarantee yourself a bargain if you enter a low starting bid. Either people will fight to stay in, spending a lot of money, or they go out, driving up the value of your low bid.
actually bidding 2 is the much better option, because you are guaranteed to be outbid and you get half back... so you drive up the price for the others and still only pay 1
Tried this game out on Board Game Arena in preparation for this episode, and I absolutely love it! There's so much bluffing, risk-taking, and reading your opponents for such a small game. The art is absolutely delightful too! Who wouldn't want to own an evil-looking cave?
For Sale is a Great game, im so happy you all played it. Adam! it looks like Monopoly is ever closer haha!! Laurie, Still love you man and still hoping for your Blood on the clock tower victory
Shouldn't the first bidder always do at least 2k(assuming they don't instantly pass). You bid 1k, it comes back around, you pass and lose 1k. You bid 2k, it comes back around, you pass, lose 1k and take back 1k. The initial bid of 2k might force others to pass before you and you get a better property.
Looking at this, odd-valued bids seem to be best for specifically out-bidding someone. Every even-valued bid is a step up in intensity, because it's an extra bit of money lost even if you don't win the auction. Betting one more than an even bid let's you stay ahead without the extra drop-out risk. So yeah, 1 isn't a very good opening bid, because you're not really pressuring anyone with a 1. The only time a 1 bid is good is if everyone else drops out.
@@MarcoTalin12 Other way around though, you round down what you get back so a 6 and 5 both lose 3 coins when you drop out (although I hear this has varied between different editions of the game...)
