It seems the algorithm has blessed me with a video full of good vibes today. Having been online for a couple of decades now, one thing I've realized about furries that I find really cool is that they're unlike most other fandoms in that they're largely centered around original content instead of an external media. They're all about self expression, a sense of community, and creating cool stuff - the kind of vibes that old school art groups like the Impressionists were about, but on a cultural scale that stuff like access to the internet brings and the same urge to anthropomorphize animals that made the Egyptians give their gods animal heads. If the Egyptians could've commissioned fursuits, they absolutely would have.
i became a furry after watching the mff rave(2019) on a tiktok live, i didn't know it was a furry for about a half hour because i was to busy having fun with the music. That only got me into thinking they were alright though but i liked the music(i spent months finding music like what they played so when i was busy trying to find where and what mff was i ended up watching others and kept getting recommended furry content and now i am here.
I did NOT expect something this good when I saw it in my recommendations. Also, I'm not a furry, but I'm so glad to see this community be represented in a positive light, cause the assumptions many people make about furries and what they stand for can be actually disgusting.

I think most of the hate furries get is from those old "cringe compilations" that were just attacking (probably) autistic people; i dont know how someone has the possibility to see it outside of just a big hobby
Very true statement. I have a friend I've never told I was a furry, but eventually some day he started ranting about them and telling lies about how they'd identify as animals. He said that he got his informations (and ofc hatred) from cringe compilations that he likes to watch (Caseoh was one of them). If he'd only knew one of his best friends were a furry too all along... But that is actually how many get to hate them, because out of the 98% of videos were furries are wholesome, only the 2% cringey ones are shown in these videos. I hate cringe compilations because they're all about making fun of other people.

For real ... I had some very interesting conversations at BLFC with people in red hats, and once they realized that I'm a totally reasonable person who happens to have ears and a tail on and that their mental model of what we are is wrong, they made me feel weirdly accepted. Really it's not any more complicated than someone cosplaying an anime character, except we cosplay our own original characters that frequently also represent us (though fursonas can be alternate identities instead of an anthropomorphic adaptation of ourselves... but me and everyone I know in the video are the latter).
Seeing how chill everyone in the vid was (Seriously, the guy presenting his slides was such a vibe), the furry community feels like an art genre physically manifested. They’re just geeks through and through, and boy, can I relate to that!

I kinda comemnted this as a reply already, but I felt this was important enough. Furrys are intently just people with a hobby. However, many bad actors like zoophiles or child predators have stepped into the limelight, which the media tents to highlight, giving people bad views. Also, a lot of people are repulsed by the sexual part of the fandom.
There's definitely weird aspects of the fandom but at it's core it's dressing up / creating / or just enjoying anthro character design. It's looking at a character like mickey mouse, Blaidd (from Elden Ring), Death (From Puss in Boots) and just thinking 'that character is cool as hell I want to make my own'. We are surrounded by 'furry' characters in media and don't blink an eye at them, it's only when someone creates their own that suddenly we identify this as 'furry' and attach all these stigmas and preconceived notions to them. That isn't to say furry isn't weird, one of the best parts of the fandom is it being home to an incredibly diverse group of people, with hobbies and interests in every facet of life, and some of the most creative people and artists around. And you'll definitely find things you lift an eyebrow at or find weird as hell but that's a part of the fandom, not the entire thing. I love how weird furry is and enjoy exploring it, it's led me to new hobbies and interests and led me to meeting people that went on to become my best friends. But there are many furries who don't engage with it at all and are just furries because they wanted a cool anthro character. Like with most things when you just talk to people you realize 'oh that's really all it is' at it's core it's people dressing up in a design they made and hanging out. Thank you for approaching this with an open mind and a willingness to have an honest conversation with people. That is something that is sorely lacking these days and it's a real breath of fresh air to see.
I love how the majority of hate towards furries comes from the internet or the US in real life people are actually chill whit us existing I've never been attacked irl for being one but idk maybe I've just been Lucky 🤷
This was so wholesome! Love to see some furry representation and have folks looking to learn about a community without letting their prior biases affect their perspective.
Just wanted to say that this was an awesome video. Well done CalTV! Hoping this comment boosts the algorithm, always good to see well-intentioned media coverage of us!
This is so cute! Also I think it’s worth briefly mentioning the reason the sexual deviancy narrative is so popular is because like 80-90% of us are queer in some sort of way It’s always nice to see non furs interact with the community because furries are some of the sweetest people I’ve met, like I brought a friend to a con and she had a panic attack so I took her aside to help calm her down. A vendor noticed and gave me a free sticker as thanks ;w;
It's closer to 50/50 queer/straight, but you're still not wrong. I heard someone say that making fun of furries is one of the last socially-acceptable forms of homophobia, and honestly they aren't wrong.
The narrative has nothing to do with queers, that's a shield used to defend your degenerate fandom from due insults. Queer or straight, nothing will detract from the fact that you and your kind are a bunch of weird little shits who will take any chance to drag and indoctrinate people into your outlandish fetish.

Thank you for approaching this with an open mind and a willingness to have an honest conversation with people. That is something that is sorely lacking these days and it's a real breath of fresh air to see.
i think yiff should be illegal
i was thinking lion but western dragon was a move
I love how the majority of hate towards furries comes from the internet or the US in real life people are actually chill whit us existing I've never been attacked irl for being one but idk maybe I've just been Lucky 🤷
This was so wholesome! Love to see some furry representation and have folks looking to learn about a community without letting their prior biases affect their perspective.
Oh my god the summoning salt music
Love the positivity going around here!
Just wanted to say that this was an awesome video. Well done CalTV! Hoping this comment boosts the algorithm, always good to see well-intentioned media coverage of us!
13:08 where dragon?
the “stay down” has me reeling hahahhaha
Amazing editing techniques and scenes. Big thanks for keeping it unbiased!!
Much love for our Furry Execs! Yall looked amazing on camera! 👏👏
This is so cute! Also I think it’s worth briefly mentioning the reason the sexual deviancy narrative is so popular is because like 80-90% of us are queer in some sort of way
It’s always nice to see non furs interact with the community because furries are some of the sweetest people I’ve met, like I brought a friend to a con and she had a panic attack so I took her aside to help calm her down. A vendor noticed and gave me a free sticker as thanks ;w;
This was so well done and amazing to watch:)))
This video is wholesome af, love it
my fursona is an old chinese man smoking a cigarette in the light rain on a summer night
