I never thought this channel would leave me shocked and on the verge of tears... Years back I lost control of my e39 on a rainy evening, oversteering into drainage ditch than into a grass median. The DSC wasn't functioning and I thought I could be cocky in my "low powered" 525i. My dignity was shattered and I learned respect for the car. Lucky all it needed was a splash guard and temperature sensor. So glad you made it out okay and decided to restore the car. An honorable move. Keep your chip up, buddy!

Hell I almost crashed yesterday. Was driving some guys and it was cold, dark and wet, and the guy in front of me suddenly stopped to turn. I hit the brakes and the car just slid, I barely stopped milimeters from the guy in front. Old cars are unforgiving, you always need to have that in mind, mine decided to remind me of that fact.

Exact same thing happened to me in my E39 530d and I LOVED that car. Took out a road sign with the back of the car while sliding into the ditch and the insurance company wrote the car off. Lesson learned and I'll never turn off DSC again.

Very unforgiving vehicles (unless you have a modern bmw with stability control, traction control, and xdrive - those are extremely safe to drive in all weather) in the right conditions they are a blast to drive.

Welcome to the E30 club owners!

The ending resonated strongly with all of us, we are as invested in these cars as you in some way. We’re all truly glad you’re ok, since that’s the most important part. You handled your apology like a true gentleman. And let’s be honest here, if theres anyone who’s able to bring back this car back, its you. Take care, take all the time you need and happy holidays!

I have enjoyed you bringing this beautiful car back to life. It was amazing seeing the final unveiling. The accident was a shock, but in my 70 plus years I’ve learned a few truths. One of them is, “Thing’s can be replaced, people cannot”. While I hate to see the damage I know it can be repaired. To lose you would be irreplaceable. I’m sure you’ve learned a valuable lesson. That’s how we move ahead, trial and error. It takes a strong individual to stand up and admit a error, but it shows strength of character when it’s done. I’m happy you’re okay and I look forward to seeing more content from you.

Absolutely, literally crying at the end of this one. Staten, you put so much love and care into everything you do on/for this channel, and as a dedicated BMW enthusiast and subscriber I know the pain. I wrecked a 1989 325ix in alpine white and to this day haven't been able to fully forgive myself. Fingers and toes crossed that there isn't any frame dammage. Unfortunately carbon fiber towels can't fix everything. Neither can duct tape. In the near future i want to become a Patreon subsciber so that I can be in the mix of people who support the channel in times like these. You do amazing work and you have let no one down! Every time!!!..., A thumbs up for you my friend. Keep up the great work. I love your channel to death! Cheers.

i also had an accident with the E39 that i grew up with and my father had since 2002, he gave it to me when i grew up because i loved that car and one day it was a little slippery and i lost control in a curve, i dived down a ditch and landed with the rear end of the car. the damage wasn't that big but i sat down and fixed it because it broke my heart.
i feel with you, stay strong, main thing is that you are okay.
    Cars can be fixed!

You have done an amazing job with the e30! It looks magnificent! I am sorry for how it ended. If you consider fixing it (wich I think you should) you could also consider upgrading it a bit with an ABS conversion. Since ABS was an option for the prefacelift E30 it should be a plug and play conversion, and it doesn't devalue the car. As you did with the rear sway bar, the ABS module can be retrofitted without too much hassle. The E30 was a great car because it had many options that could be added, some were aesthetic, some were technical, like the ABS, or the LSD or the rear brake disks. I still daily drive my e30 vert after 30 years and have upgraded many parts (with original BMW options). From electric windows to central locking, to AC system and MTech2 body kit...It is an absolute dream of a car, still turning heads 30 years later. And it drives great!! Good Luck!

better to have some time for part 7, and let the whole lesson sink in for all of us...
you are a brilliant mechanic, very careful owner but it happens to everyone and anytime don't get too attached with the cars you own and work on, I know it might not seem consistent with the work you do but take it as this: your, your family's and also another creatures' lives are not even comparable with all of these cars... the important thing is you and your psychological well being.
we do have a saying all comes and all goes, this will also go.

Again, great work Sreten... Oh no! I started writing this comment just before the end. Still great restoration work on the car, and encouraging to see you step up and own the heartbreaking mishap. I still think the biggest home goal I can recall, is a guy that drove home from the pub with four of his mates. Driving aggressively into his own street and braking hard and late to stop outside his house; he ran into the backend of his second car parked outside. Significant damage to both of his toys, his pride and reputation. Your mishap is at least an honest mistake on a slippery road, in a car that your not familiar with, and no run off room available to correct the understeer.

New comer to your channel … and this video was surreal.
I had a E30 Cabriolet 325 in Dolphin grey that I managed to wipe into a street lamp - dead centre - head on. Damp road, sharp corner and asked to much from the tyres.
It was my pride and joy …
Whats most interesting is it happened EXACTLY 30 years ago to the day that I watched this video. There is a message in there somewhere.

That’s rough man. I’ve been there. 3 times. My pride and joy, modified Scirocco S. Cleaned and buffed just like your project. After spending a weekend on it, cleaning screw heads with Q-tips for hours, I met a hay bale tumbling off a truck on the highway at night. Ripped off my front spoiler and wheel. The lesson I learned has stuck with me…… cars are cars. As much as you love them, they never love you back the same. So the love you have must be tempered by what you are willing to give unilaterally. And be happy with that, whatever it amounts to. Heal your pride and relish in the marvelous journey and lessons of life. Good man…
