Actual there are breaking expensive sensor´s... i drove some newer BMW´s but i dont like them because they are quite heavy and "big" in comparission to my E 46. My E 46 is not fast, has no tuning, but i like it. Dont know why, cause most of the time something gone bad and has to be replaced....
      I can image the fight to keep an E 38 on the road.
      The times here in Germany will be a lot harder than the past years. Everthing gotten so expensive like Fuel, Car insurancy and the list goes on.
      In the End i will try to find a cheap second car, so my E 46 can chill a bit.

The big problem now, is what to do with it, I have a FUGA 370GT what just goes, wife has a Lexus IS350 F which runs ring around any of the modern BMW's, but the old E39 is still a good driver, but for little annoying shit, and I think they were the pinnacle of BMW engineering, which is why we have never brought a newer one after owning BMW's for 35 odd years

    My E39 M5 is about 140,000 miles was glad to see your engine is still running strong even if the transmission has an issue. I have noticed the popping out of third gear once or twice in the 15 years I've had this car and never knew about the arrestor balls that cause this issue so this video definitely helped me! I think I will be upgrading that even though my transmission is otherwise fine. I hope the e60 shifter didn't mess with the transmission! I upgraded my stock shifter to the UUC short shifter and I haven't had a problem in ~40,000 miles it definitely improved the shifting experience - those plastic balls on the stock shifters literally deform and fall apart!

    Regarding windshield wipers, I only use the BMW original ones - my experience is that they last so much better than any aftermarket ones - tried a bunch of brands but the last ones from BMW were still in good condition after 4 years and 80000 kms, no sqeak and they still wiped off the rain as they should.👌

    A good tip for bleeding ps fluid. When you go to start the car for the first time, start it for a few seconds and turn it off, add a little more fluid, and then replete until you fluid level no longer drops. This way you prevent air gettin sucked into the system and causing the whining noise and making your fluid bubble.

    Hi Sreten - our buddy Adam Bajrak gave me a great tip about bleeding the power steering fluid circuit.
    Don't start the engine. Fill the reservoir and unlock the steering column with the key and turn it lock to lock a couple of times and it will get most of the air out of an otherwise drained system. You probably need to top up the reservoir a couple of times while doing this with the engine off. This saves the pump from cavitating on startup.
    Love the channel!
    Pete from Mt. Airy MD

    I‘m a technician: try this: before you start the engine just lift the car from the ground an turn the whel from lock to lock 30 times and ad oil if necessery. Then start the engine and do the procedure again an keep an eye on the fluid level. Works ever time!😊

    • @ggal625
      @ggal625 Год назад

      I do the same on my E61 and Z3. Engine off. Turn lock to lock several times until the fluid stops dropping. Running the engine too early just creates bubbles and lots of noise.

    • @M539Restorations
      @M539Restorations  Год назад

      I did, and I do the same, it doesn't make a difference on the E60 and E92. It's easier to use your steering wheel since the car is already in the air. :)

    Because of the temperature difference during the winter your engine bay will be constantly wet. This sound insulation allow the temperature to escape slowly and oder than sound proofing that is its second job. Once removing it there will be a lot of condensation. :)

    on pump bleeds it can be very helpful to elevate the front end of the car a couple feet encouraging bubbles to travel to the high point in the system. also the wheel should be turned slowly lock to lock several times before starting car. then after starting let it idle until fluid temp can increase before turning wheel. hope that helps

    Gotta love the E60... I have always had a weak spot for it. Only thing I'd change on your car is the wood trim. I Have always preferred aluminium or black gloss... especially with cars from this era wood can look a bit cheap imo.
    I remember when I was a kid we were in traffic (stau) on the Autobahn, an E90 M3 and an E60 M5 with Eissenman exhaust stood still, next to each other and waited for a little while. They were holding up everyone who was behind them for a couple of minutes untill they had a couple of hundred meters clear road. One guy had is hand out the window counting down and then they drag raced... I opened up my window to hear the exhausts. For me as a kid it was such a cool experience, especially the V10 noise
