Hello Clyde. I have been playing the game since 7 years now and I have a different point of view on nerfing premium ships. This is really BAD for a simple reason: a premium ship that is assessed OP is not the fault of the player (customer) who paid REAL money for it. On the contrary: the fact that is OP (over performing for the newbie) is the result of POOR testing and balance BEFORE release. Now nerfing the ship means putting the blame on the customer that bought it sometime even with extorsionary practice like the infamous bundle. I remember when Graf Zeppelin was released and changed literally overnight raising one the first and worst SHT Storm inside the game to the point that WG was forced to remove it from game and refund buyers. Now if customers accept the fact that WG can NERF a premium this can leasd to a more dangerous predatory market practice. What if they start to reelease OP ships baiting people to buy them and after few month to nerf them?? It's very likely to happen.. "because we listen our community". Yes they lkisten so much that SHT ships wait years to receive a buff. BEWARE guysa BEWARE,,, this are your real money. (do you wanna bet money that HORNET will be nerfed in a year afìter being sold on shop?) Think about this: WG could follow a different path. A ship is too stong? OK remove it from game REFUND the money to buyers: adjust / rebalance it and after a few test reintroduce it inside the game. WHY they are not chosing this course of action?? Ask it yourself. For me this mark the end of BUYING anything inside the game becasue I dont feel I can trust the company any longer. Good luck to you.
Hey Vecio! Changing ships (premiums or not) is a two-edged sword, and I preferred the world without changes to real-money premiums myself. It's nice when we see positive changes to ships that we think need improvements, and lame when we see nerfs to ships we really enjoy. Wargaming changed their policy of not adjusting premiums almost three years ago starting with the release of Hyuga on April 29, 2021. As a long time player keeping up with the latest news, you probably remember this. WG's policy is that all premiums sold before that time cannot be buffed or nerfed. Of course, that is a policy they could change at any time. All premiums before Hugya can't be changed under normal circumstances by their current policy. Some notable "abnormal cirucmstances" have certainly occurred such as the Graf Zeppelin scenario you mentioned where that whole ship's release was a fiasco resulting in a 1.5 year removal from the store. Sometimes ships get changed when big changes happen, such as the CV re-work of 0.8.0 which affected Saipan notably but also other premium CVs. Recently, the addition of sub air strikes to powerful battleships being made worse than other BBs was used as a sort of shadow-nerf those powerful ships justified by the introduction of a new game mechanic. Its important that players understand this rule and know that ships that seem to be "too good to be true" probably will be for the long term, as adjustments could be made to any of those ships. Its also important to remember that this policy only applies to doubloon ships - ships like Stalingrad are very old and have had changes (such as the relatively recent radar nerfs) because Steel Ships are for all intents and purposes, "free-to-play" ships. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
It justifies the existence of Hayate, to a degree. Otherwise, why play her when she has the drawbacks of the other two IJN T10s, and none of the benefits?
The news about the Hayate is great. I was never interested in it but now with torpedo reload in a separate area slot, well I had to get it. Also went and bought the Yamigiri which is just awesome to play. I sold my Humphrey’s because I wanted a better destroyer. These buffs were much needed. Thanks Clyde! o7
For Malta I don't see this being that huge of a change, but losing 5 bombs per strike is pretty sad for me. Torp buff was unexpected but is nice. I don't play Colossus much and I have never really taken it out of Co-op or Operations, and for me this feels like way too much of a nerf. Had they buffed her other squadrons like Malta it would've been more justifiable. Also, 5 rockets per plane, does it mean the load will be asymmetric on the planes? Oh, my OCD! I can't look at that. Hayate buff REALLY got me excited though. Thanks for the summary.
Colossus is pretty strong vs a lot of ships. I know Skada made that comment which feeds nicely into some CV conspiracy theory narratives, let's not ignore the fact that Colossus has the ability to obliterate basically 1/3 of the combatants on the enemy team in the exact same way. Of course its not totally unheard of that a Colossus player would target the enemy CV - but that doesn't mean that's why WG adjusted this very powerful ship. While the CV is likely the most impactful of those ships to remove from the game - especially early - I think wargaming is adjusting this ship because it can do that to ANY lightly armored ship - not just CVs. There was a time when detonations used to be possible on full health ships, and Louisiana used to send DDs back to port in a single strike. Anything that shortens someones game that dramatically - regardless of class - tends to get adjusted by the boffins at the pixel boat factory. Just my $0.02 - t hanks for the comments folks!
@@ClydePlays Meanwhile Aquila can do the same thing to cruisers, but not carriers, and remains untouched. There's only so much line blurring before the conspiracy theory is less a theory and outright fact.
While I appreciate the comparison - I'm not sure Aquila's lack of nerf proves anything about the "protected class" theory. Aquila can't do what Colossus can (could) do. Aquila's rocket planes have 1030hp and Colossus' have 1460hp, its rocket strike only has 2/3 of the potential damage as Colossus, and it pens 38 fewer mm of armor. Basically - Aquila is only about 2/3 of a Colossus - it doesn't get the nerf, because it was nerfed when it came out of the pixel factory in comparison. We all know Colossus was cracked - while Aquila in very skilled hands is also a powerful strike platform, it simply isn't the platform that Colossus was against ANY target. I suppose I just think we're giving WG too much credit to think that they are trying to target a nerf to "save" CVs from Colossus by nerfing her, since the change can't help but save everyone from Colossus. Interestingly, I think both of us agree that Colossus needed a change (unless I'm wrong here?) - I'm honestly surprised the nerf took this long to get into PTS. Thanks for commenting Pyro - I genuinley enjoy our little exchanges.
Totally agree - Nebraska's like a gatekeeper that prevents you from enjoying Deleware and Lousiana. Much like Kansas which does the same for the Vermont line. I think in this case, she got "caught up in the nerf crossfire" with the other two.
Hornet's biggest problem is how slow its planes are. If you are in a map that allows you to get really close (like Seychelles), fine. But if not, you are doomed to have no impact in the match. It also struggles a lot when up tiered. That is where WG should focus.
I traded F Sherman in which bought me Dalian (and then immediately re bought F Sherman) as I enjoyed Jinan and wanted a premium version. Ended up very disappointed with Dalian torps vs the awesome Jinan versions.
Yeah, Jinan has powerful torpedoes, Dalian's guns are the reason to choose her.... And her torpedoes are decent, they're just not on par with Jinan's.... Too bad you didn't enjoy her, but at least the price was right.
I agree with pretty much all of these, my issue is they missed the mark on some of them, buffing the wrong thing. California needs better turret traverse and Khaba needs better rudder shift.
Couldn't agree more on the return of Khaba's once-good rudder shift! Sadly, they gave that to Delny, so I think they won't be letting them both have it. :(
Florida is fun, I think. I should play her more often! The smaller things are a turn off for some, but her HE seems to work when the AP doesn't. I'd have to look at other T7 BBs for a quantitative comparison, but I enjoy my matches in her.
Nah.....but Tone is a dang good cruiser, even if you ignore the torp planes. She plays a lot like Atago, and I'm hopeful Chikuma II is also pretty excellent.
Conde got both a very minor buff and a (in my opinion) a very minor nerf. Looking forward to it's next nerf - because I don't think her dispersion is that bad, and I think her reload booster is still going to be a powerful tool even with a little less later accuracy. I'm guessing Wargaming is making small adjustments rather than larger ones so they don't give us whiplash on this strong ship's power level.
No I don't think she needed the reload buff. I've seen a few peope touting the 7% thing - and while that's mathematically true, I think the actual buff will work out to be significantly less than that in practice (i.e. in actual, realized damage gains) - because you simply can't shoot all the time. Conde tends to ambush and kill her prey so fast (because she's waaaaaaaay too powerful) that I think the buff won't really result in 7% more account damage. I'm very interested to see how much effect will result from the 20% F-button dispersion nerf will affect the ship - to me, it doesn't seem like that much of a nerf - so I'll be eagerly awaiting the next round of Buffs n' Nerfs for a legitimate Conde adjustment - because this one doesn't seem like its gonna get the job done.
WG is ruining the Italian dd line. Averie is fun and all of the tier needs a buff to their gun range! A trade for torp range would be ok, but really WGing!

Moving the Hayate TRB to its own slot puts it in line with other japanes premium DD's that have smoke and TRP booster.
I think this is a nice babystep for Hayate. Who knows!? It might even be enough to bring her in line with other premiums. Thanks for watchin'!

Split and LK buffs unexpected, find those ships are very strong already ..... I'll take it.

Literally the only reason it got nerfed is because one or two strikes was enough to completely nuke an enemy CV.

Agreed 100%
Late to the party, but great video, Clyde and Skada!
Fashionably late!
Yay for more planes! Especially after WG says they still need to balance aircraft more.
Florida and Indianapolis are also great buffs! Gonna have more fun playing these 2 ships. o7

Khaba has shitty dpm and angles. Rudder shift is very low in the list of priorities for it.
I bought Indianapolis because of the bow armour and reload buffs and am seriously thinking about a Florida.

The Lamb Roast KATSONIS is definitely a meal I would eat ...
😂
Hey Clyde, pls do a video on the latest information on update 13.3!
Recorded it yesterday should go live soon (ish) after editing. Gotta finish the Golden Barnacles on Saturday first!
I'm one of the 25 who has the Numancia, and actually plays it, :)
Might have to update that number to 26! 😅
A better Atago? is that possible?
Nah.....but Tone is a dang good cruiser, even if you ignore the torp planes. She plays a lot like Atago, and I'm hopeful Chikuma II is also pretty excellent.

Dead spot on about Colossus. It is all about nerfing cv sniping and nothing else.
Sub & CV=protected classes

Yeah, bummer about Aviere - hopefully its still fun to play. It's a great little bote today!
