i could watch Jon and Russell talk for hours. Two of the most underrated and consistently funny comics working, as well as appearing to be two genuinely good gents.
I watch 'Bluey' with my nephews and then even on my own if they've gone off and do their own thing. It's the best kids' show ever made and deserves all the awards it's received and more.
My grandchildren love Bluey. They are 7 and 2 and if they leave the room I keep watching it!! It teaches great lessons and explains life on many levels.
I whole heartedly agree with Jon. Bluey is not only great for kids but great for parents. And it makes you feel good. Also, a real great example of how parents should be engaging with their children.
Man alive.. I just watched the episode of Bluey Jon talks about. called Granddad. Well i'm now a blubbering mess.. It's beautiful. Every single element is better than it needs to be. The music, animation, voice acting. Incredible. Having grown up on Silver and Bronze age Disney. Where the animation can be, extremely shonky. To say the least. This is a bloody treat!!!!!
I live in Australia and I know Bluey is big, not only here but the US and the UK too (probably elsewhere as well), but I have NEVER seen an episode. But after watching this interview, I'm going to watch it and start at the beginning. Also, if they are only 5-6 minutes long, I'm all over it. Thanks for the stellar recommendation Jon! Another great interview Russell. Love your work! 😍
Bluey is hands down hilarious! My favourite line is when the dad says “I’ll play a game that means I do not have to move or say any words” and they shout ambulance 😂 It was so real, exactly what a parent feels when they have to play a game but they don’t want to lol
This is excellent interviewing. Also it it nice to see Jon Richardson not putting himself down. He is one of my favourite standups because he is original (Nidiot) and has topics I can relate to although I hated the few episodes of Meet the Richardson's that I saw (I'm Canadian). I dislike seeing a wife constantly chiselling away her husband's confidence and self respect.
Listening to Russell and Jon talk so freely and easily in 2024 makes me nostalgic and a tad emotional. It’s like being catapulted back in time by 15+ years. They still have the exact same dynamic after all of these years, even though their lives have changed so drastically in the meantime. Can we please have a Jossell podcast revival?
@@ym10up I still have a copy of all of their episodes and probably listen to them from start to finish at least once a year. They’re like a little comfort blanket.
@@Noir4Moon I know right! I was not lucky enough to listen to them while they were on air, otherwise I would have listened to them live. There used to be a podcast feed that I was using but then the feed itself was disabled and I freaked out. Then I found an archive link online and I've been using it ever since. I should really download them all to keep a copy of my own, just in case this happens again.
@@ym10up I started listening to them live about 2 months before Jon and Fordy left 6 music in 2010 so I originally missed the Russ and Jon episodes but I went back and caught up from the beginning and have listened to them every year since. It’s mad to think how much time has passed and how much they’ve both changed (for the better) as people and yet fundamentally, they’re still the same loveable idiots that they always were. 😄
@@Noir4Moon oh I so agree. Their shenanigans are some fond memories for me. I'm very happy to see their friendshipz haven't changed, despite how much their lives have changed
Even Jon speaking about it made the hairs on my neck stand up. No comment will sum up the beauty of Bluey, but it is the best all ages cartoon of this generation.
I do excatly what Jon does too, I'll go back and watch episodes of cartoons I grew up watching, in particular I'll try to find episodes that I still remember to this day and it takes me back to a more innocent time
Bluey is absolutely brilliant. And on of the few kids shows you can watch with your kids (or without them if you haven't got any) without wanting to jump out of a building.
Bluey is quintessentially everything I love about Queensland. The people, the laid-back lifestyle, the importance of family. My parents were english, and moved here when I was a baby, and I understand why they fell in love with the place. It truly is unique.
Around 8:30 when Jon says the version of UP where they can't get the balloons in balance, I wanted him to say that them and all the furniture end up in one corner of the room
Completely agree, they aren't just the best episodes of children's TV, they are some of the best episodes of ALL TV! Sublime. Also, Joe Brumm worked in the UK in his early career and was inspired by some of our best shows. Incredible.
Next level Bluey for me was watching the cricket game episode with my grandson. Oh my. Hard to not just weep. So good. Incidentally, my grandson now likes cricket.
I first watched the spongebob movie with my kids. OMG we still talk about the "Hasselhoff trauma" because it was _so_ funny for my kids, but for me (who'd seen him when I was a teen in other things, hey Knight Rider) it was freaking hilarious.
I always loved Kim Possible - I used to make sure it was on when I was watching tv in the afternoons with my daughter, so I could use her as an excuse. I also still have all the Dangermouse and Fraggle Rock DVDs ❤
Beautifully constructed to maximise "core" memories with every dial turned up too exquisitely positive. Every concept is under 10 seconds and there's is little to no break or link between each. This would probably work really well with any kid by especially those who're (who ARE - to be perfectly clear) autistic.
Bluey has similarities to the Simpsons for me. It's a cartoon for kids, but equally the writers have the parents in mind as well. They do it in different ways, but have the same effect.
Looney Toons the original cartoons, I got this double VHS 6 HRS must be over 30 years ago in a junk shop, still keep a VHS player just in case I ever want to watch again. 😂
He's right, though. I've never seen Bluey, but there is a place inside us all where we're {not an age/all the same age,} where really good "children's" programming hits everyone the same.
I really don’t believe it is a kids program, it is a parenting program. I feel sorry for people who don’t have kids………cause most of them haven’t seen Bluey. It truly is exceptional! Bandit is my parenting hero!
I knew Jon's inclusion of his (in my opinion) untalented (now ex) wife was a really bad idea, and I'm sorry that he'll never be able to watch the panel shows he did after he forced her onto them without regret. This is why (Sarah Pascoe) you don't integrate your current and temporary spouse into your own career...
Serious suggestion to Russell's RUclips producers - please put his latest stuff on at roughly the actual time it went out! ...seriously, every clip is yonks old, every podcast is yonks old - it's so off putting - everyone else manages to do it, it can't be all that hard, surely?

The scene on the jetty made my wife and I cry. Bluey is an incredible show that captures emotion on a level I have never experienced.
