you're basically ollivander's for ballet.. like.. look at the feet and then disappear in a gigantic store full of things that look the same to try and feel which one will fit and either it goes wrong and hurt or it "sparles"
3:30 we have baby ballerinas at our studio, and in last years performance they couldnt focus on the steps so they were just waving to their parents in the audience and picking sequins off the ground 🥹🥹 this year they have a penguin costume for their performance 😭😭😭
I don't think it really matters much because when 3-year-olds go on stage in adorable costumes, there's always a collective breath & "Aw..." and "So cute!" from the audience. I doubt many parents expect 3-year-olds to do much on stage. 🤣
GG fit me in my current shoes and it changed my pointe experience - she’s absolutely incredible! I finally feel like I found my shoe. It’s all thanks to her for her experience and kindness 💖💖💖
we love Gg! 🥰
4.40 My ballet school is in a 200 year old fencing hall (every young man in Germany had to take fencing classes in those days and learn how to fight with a sword ⚔️). It’s really beautiful 🤩
there's an eldery woman in my class that strated ballet when she was 35, got en pointe, took a 15 year break, and is back en pointe in her 70's. She was also a teacher and physicist before starting ballet. She's the coolest lady I'v ever met
I sewed a flat shoe to my foot once. There was a hole in the canvas so i wanted to stitch it shut but i didn't take my shoe off. I stitched right through callouses. A day in the life!!
The feet without toes, I’m paralysed in my front feet, and bad ankles. Also walking on stilts is the best way of describing how I need to keep my balance. I can’t stand still like her.
The ballet ‘couple’ are Whitney Huell and Alladson Barretto with Kansas City Ballet. They’re dancing in the lobby of The Kauffman theater where KCB performs. It’s my city and I love our dancers and company to pieces! The sweetest people!
I know nothing about ballet (other than from a musician's standpoint), but I've been watching this channel for months now -- I love watching people just be good at something and people appreciating that.
And now I'm learning about this whole new world.
Thank you!
I love dance, sadly ended up giving up ballet just before pointe. I’ve never jet glued a shoe. I have however done lots of work with cyanoacrylate glues (like jet glued) in keeping live coral reef tanks. One of the cardinal rules of that sort of glue is ALWAYS have a bottle of 100% acetone (can get from a beauty supply) and paper/wood stick cotton swabs on hand (the plastic sticks will dissolve in acetone).
If you use enough of that sort of glue frequently at some point no matter how careful you are you will manage to glue your tools to your work surface or your fingers to each other. If you have acetone at the ready you can get yourself out of that mess. A cotton swab soaked in acetone can be rubbed between the parts (usually fingers) stuck together and slowly work them apart. Also, yes as Josephine says, while the glue will seem dry in about an hour, most formulas take about a day to fully cure and stop being reactive. I’d imagine not only are you likely to have issues with potentially getting stuck in the shoe, but even if you avoid that fate if the glue hasn’t fully cured it isn’t going to be nearly as strong as once it has fully cured.
Please don't end this masterpiece and chaos of a reaction 😚😚🤎🤎✨✨
I agree. Keep 'em coming, Josephine!
Do i do ballet? No. Do i want to do ballet? No. Is my whole youtube ballet related? Yes. Do i like it? Yes.
Same 🤣
It's like no matter if you are 12 or 22 getting your first pair of pointe shoes is the best feeling ever. Pure Joy!
I was just remembering my first pointe shoe fitting. Both my Mom AND my Daddy came with me, & it was one of the MOST magical moments of my short-lived, but intensely beloved, dance "career." I wanted to be able to dance en pointe more than anything else, from the moment my Mom took me to see my first ballet, "Coppelia," & I had FINALLY arrived! And, as I was thinking about it, tears just sprang to my eyes. I don't know why, but it just made me so emotional. I miss my parents, & I miss dancing, so much!
My dance studio was in a church too. We still had the alter and I had to climb over the railing to get different things when I was an assistant. Downstairs was the waiting room and another studio. Very unique.
My dance studio used to be an icecream shop from the 40s
Wow
how fun! rehearsing land of sweets during nutcracker must call to the ghosts of ice cream cones past!
@@ThePointeShop It really does!! Our studio ghost is named Jeffery! The kids say he was the old icecream maker! Sometimes we still smell phantom chocolate! (Or maybe its just us hungry dancers after rehersal 🤣)
I’m a dancer who has danced for 9 years and I just got my pointe shoes!! I just learned how to sew them and I’m so happy. I love your videos and they inspire me so much!!
The jet glue melting was like matilda's dad's hat being stuck to his head 😅
My old ballet school from my childhood was based in a Chapel, it was so amazing
I miss watching you fit pointe shoes, I wish you would include that in your channel again.
Same. That's the content that brought me here in the first place.
Y’a i wonder if she’s been taking more out of office work or if she already went on maternity leave. But yes i love to see all the components of getting the correct shoe so we need more❤😊
This gets more views from a larger audience I think that’s why they focus on this vs fittings
Skate liborius (which is now sadly burned down) in St. Louis was a skate park that was in a cathedral like church. It was gorgeous. Even some local Sisters came to visit it and loved it as well.
The lady without toes reminds me of the bound footed ladies of ancient China. Same mechanics, they walked like they were on stilts too
They do make special shoes for people without toes. My uncle had to have multiple amputations over the years, so he started with no toes and ended up with no leg below the knee. They just end where the foot does. Though some people might find prosthetic toes to be helpful.
But yeah, pro tip, if you crush your entire foot but it doesn't hurt, go to the hospital because you have nerve damage and not going to the hospital is a great way to end up with an infection, up to and including gangrene, and they will keep having to cut off more of your leg if the infection doesn't go away. Also the infection can cause organ damage. My uncle ended up in dialysis and had a heart transplant due to that. All because he kept blowing off my aunt "nagging" him to go to the hospital because his crushed foot that had been run over with a car "didn't hurt".
I am so sorry this happened to your uncle.
Sounds like my husband I made multiple eye appointments for him refused to go and now he’s legally blind from severe glaucoma. He has 10% vision in his Right eye and 20% vision in his Left eye. I’m just a nurse so what do I know🙄
Fitted by GG ❤ she was amazing!
I love your videos I do gymnastics but ur making me love ballet a lot❤❤
The pointe shoe reactions give me life
As a kid (and some as an adult too) my studio was (and still is) above an Irish Pub. School of Theatrical Dance - Great Falls, VA. Right above The Old Brogue. 😄
Such a great studio!
Gigi has been fitting me since my first pair of pointe shoes!! I love her style ;)
I’ve been fitted my GG since I moved here! She is amazing and I love the shoes she fits me in!! 💗💗
GG will be my forever fitter she is so good at finding the right shoe for me, every time I go in I am always so happy with what I get!
If you ever make it to the east coast, Jose Mateo Ballet in Harvard Square is in a repurposed church. It’s gorgeous. ❤
Yes, I love Jose Mateo and I've studied and performed there! It's so beautiful!
I haven't danced in 30 years but I keep coming back because of your positivity.
I’m not a dancer at all, yet I’ve had a fascination with this channel since before the TikTok series, and these reactions make my day!
I started dance this january at age 14, I do tap, ballet, and jazz. I will say ballet is my top favourite and it started because I got motivated from watching your videos. You just inspire me so much.
I taught the babies for a couple of years , in the wings at recitals, they are precious.
I love these videos ao much and your positivity is so contagious!!!
Not that long ago I got my first pair of pointe shoes and it’s hell.
owwww those little red cute ballerinas 😍💘💘💘💘💘
That wedding looked like it might have been at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts in Kansas City, Missouri. Such a pretty place!
my cousin is 10 yrs old, my other cousin is 14 and does ballet
the 10 yr old thought you had to sew the shoe INTO YOUR FOOT.
I danced at Interlochen, my favorite studio, overlooked the water. 😍 I couldn't wait for that class. That church/ballet studio is gorgeous. Side note for Josephine..I'm 52 and started taking ballet again after not stepping foot in a studio in 25 years. Been back at it 3 weeks and I'm *still* addicted!!!
A studio I used to go to was in a former psychiatric hospital. They moved to a strip mall, but the psychiatric hospital was honestly such a gorgeous building.
Slay queen😭😭✨✨🤎🤎
Jose Mateo has their studio in a church in Cambridge, MA. I think it's also still used as a church.
The studio I go to is in a historic building in my town, built in 1860-something. It was a furniture store for a long time. Today, there are a bunch of shops & restaurants in it, plus a dance studio. It's lovely, but I am not fond of the slippery wooden floor under pointe shoes.
My dance studio is in the middle of an office tech campus 😂 unsuspecting business people always walk by and stop to watch us dance
My studio is the tiniest studio located in a very discreet building, right next to the most depraved night club in the city lmao you would never guess it’s there
i never thought i’d find someone who is obsessed with pointe shoes as much as me. you’re the best!!!! thank you! 🩰
I love your videos!
I do ballet in a church. The church is huge and has many sports
The baby ballerina
My dance school is basically two studios in a very old building that is literrally desintagrating. ( we have to be two to open the windows, the toilets are leaking, there is no air conditionning, ect.) Luckily, there will be a new building for us this year! (They are building it since two years!)
my dance school is right next to the church where my choir rehearses - the two buildings are connected. i go from dance to choir and back to dance :)
GG found my perfect Russian Point after two massive failures in other shops. I have been on Rubins #8 now! Thank you!!
I danced in a church! But it was not renovated into a studio, just the teacher rented it one night a week I think. It was great but also so creaky and sometimes splinters from the wooden floor plus lots of chairs sometimes that needed putting away first 😂
Mine was in a former Victorian school building, all woody and without air conditioning. We were soaked by the end of class!
my dance studio is in a warehouse. we share the warehouse with some like truck business or something and a brazilian barber shop and a surf shop. that church looks magical.
4:36 my ballet studio was a doctor’s office😂
I didn’t do ballet but I did some other kind of studio dance class in high school, they were held in the upstairs office/conference rooms of the city hall building before the building was completely torn down.
Omg, San Diego native here…never knew you had stores!!!
i’m getting getting fitted for me first pair of point shoes by GG in june! can’t wait!!!
Our ballet studio is in a very interesting building. It has an uncommon roof and it used to be a home for famous artust
Our Studio is in an old textile factory😂 there are so many different facilities like restaurants and such things there. It's really a nice place. Only the people hanging out there are a bit odd😅
That last hop at the end reminded me of Didi from Dexter's Lab! ;-)
My last studio, after covid, had a cat that would come in and sit in front of the class and judge us all
My ballet studio used to be massive bus station, they got rid of all the garages doors and stuff. But there are some studios there is tiny ramp.
woah!
my dance studio is an old renovated warehouse😭 it was originally a hair salon too😊
I love the pointe shop I’m supposed to go up there for a fitting
my studio is in an old house building ;-;. thankfully they're working on upgrading to a better space
I LOVE GG ❤❤❤
Originally, the ballet studio where I studied was BENEATH a church! Amazing space, amazing floor, big changing rooms... until the priest changed and the new one decided that it was a problem and it was interfering with the functions (there was NEVER practice at function times and everything was sound-proof) 🙄
I dread what might have happened to that space
The girl next to melt down was like 'gurl, keep it together...okay I try and help...dang fine lay there"...also melt down girl, totally my mood last week, but I'm not a ballerina of any type...
Make it to 100!
My studio was an old school in the late 1800’s 😅
I just finished my AP World test and my AP Lang test yesterday! Perfect video to chill out to!
hope it went well!
@@ThePointeShop thank you! It did 😁
My dance studio is in a plaza with a bunch of business’ but I still love it and it is close to my house ❤
I think I recognize the "stopera" building where the performances of the Dutch National Ballet are.
❤ ballet studio that looked like a church.
I dance in a play school like it’s a hall
We had our dance studio in a caboose parked in a little park
My dance studio is normal and in a small strip mall in a tiny town in Ohio lol 😂❤
if you superglue something on you: use nail polish remover. the aceton breaks down the acrylthingy in the superglue. still slowly, but its not as painful. 😊
@The Pointe Shop my dance studio is an old duke power building lol
My dance studio used to be an antique store 😂
how cool!
i do ballet in queen ballet school
and i have been there for 2 years
I literally just got my first pair of point shoes, and I had to go back because they didn’t fit me right, I wish you had fit me❤
in the first 5 minutes
🩰 Ballet after 20 - Soooooo relatable 💯
3HRS AGO WOOOOO
Josephine ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
3:23 Josephine Mom Mode Activated ™
Petition for Josephine to react to the dance scene in Abigail!! Pls😊
Didn't expect to hear Smajor's voice in the first tiktok 🤔
You should react to American Girl: Isabelle dances into the spotlight. She was the girl of the year for 2014 and she is a ballerina.
💙
4:37 IDK ADB
Dance center
Not me realising my old ballet studio was also in an old church building. Is this a thing??!!
Our dance studio was made from a cenima
You make me want pointe shoes so much. I am 46, fat, and haven't taken Ballet since I was in 4th grade but my dreamy brain is just convinced I need pointe shoes.
Use rubbing alcohol to get your I-was-impatient-I'm-sorry feet unglued from your pointe shoe.
