Rachel is totally responsible and mature - that's what the Company directors are looking for when they talk to an auditioning dancer. They know she can dance, but is she responsible and someone who knows what being a member of a company entails? Rachel certainly does! Now she just has to get her drivers license! That's the easy part!
Thank you for sharing the details! People don't realize how difficult and draining getting a company contract is, and I'm glad you're shedding light on how even the most talented dancers don't have a sure, secured spot without the work
First of all, stellar number of “ums,” in the bloopers…. Loved it. Having said that, Congratulations, Rachel! It’s always with awe, that I watch you and your sisters. Such hard work and positive results are inspiring. Be blessed❤
All this setting at Juilliard is so familiar to me from hanging out at my playground, Lincoln Center. It's just the same as 10 years ago. It really is exciting, and Rachel is so upbeat and optimistic about her auditions.
Congratulations mate! I'm really happy for you. You have maturity, a good work ethic and talent. It's a great combination. God bless you in your professional career
I want to say that this is definitely one of the best videos I've ever seen regarding ballet dancers because it really puts everything in a timeline and makes it very clear what the process was and is when it comes to going from being a student to being a professional. I don't think there's a young woman who's better prepared to handle the challenges of being a professional then you. I think that you have made so many good choices leading up to this one that this choice was going to be good no matter what you did. I like how you light up when you think about contemporary because I think that a good ballet dancer has to also appreciate contemporary in today's climate of dance. But I'm a writer so what do I know? Lol. Good luck to you!
Congratulations Rachel - you really deserve your success. Thank you for explaining the audition process for me. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time at ARB. Good luck with your driving test, too!
Hugest of congratulations Rachel. I’m so glad you’ve joined ARB as they have such a varied and comprehensive repertoire and as we have seen from your videos you love the challenge of the different genres. (Also please can someone add your “ummms” to a soundtrack? 🤣🤣🤣)
I haven't danced in more years than I care to admit, but this was still a very entertaining video. When you said "...got to talk to Ethan Stiefel..." I actually gasped and said "No! Shut up!" That decades ago Center Stage crush has not died off, apparently. LOL! How exciting for you to have so much interest. I can only imagine the pressure of deciding. Best of Luck in this season and wherever you go from there.
So proud of you🎉 My daughter (8) watches you and admires you so much!! She’s so excited for you!!!!! Thank you for showing her what hard work, dedication and perseverance looks like❤
This is so exciting. Multiple congrats!! I love all your vlogs with your family! Your Mom and dad must be so proud!!! I would love to bring my nieces to see you on stage. Plz let your you tubers know when we can do that.
Just curious what is the career path if a dancer does not get hired by a professional company? Um, do you go to college, still dancing but also studying for a non dance related career? If any of you were not going professional, what would you like to do instead?
If you don’t dance professionally, you can teach (like Jillian does), choreograph, or become a rehearsal director. College dance programs and trainee programs are also good if you are not sure about being a professional or you need more time to develop your technique. 🩰
Awesome Rachel how does it work- will you stay with one company or will you still go to auditions for other companies? What is the best company in America? Don't you want to dance in Europe?
Rach has a contract through June 2024 with ARB. You sign contracts for each school year but can change companies for the next year if you would like. At this time, Rachel doesn’t plan to dance in Europe.
Congratulations Rachel! So happy for you, this is a huge step and you totally deserve it. Did you try auditioning for the ABT company or ABT studio company? I know you mentioned once that it was your dream company.
I would love to talk about your resume, all I know of is Clara radio city x4 but not any ballet competition awards (yagp etc) or what else would go on there!
I got cut for trying to drop a chandelier on one of my competitors, while laughing maniacally. Same opera house where my great-great grandfather did something similar.
Congrats! I have been watching you guys for about 6 months now. I am not a dancer, but was really impressed by all the hard work, time, crazy schedules you all have and some how manage to keep a channel going too! In regards to your "professional job" now, how long is your "contract" good for? Do you get to "re-new" it or is this something you will have to always do in your professional career, and there is no guarantee of a position? 😊
Thanks! Rachel’s contract is through June 2024. The artistric director will decide this spring if he plans to offer her another contract or not. Contracts are good for a year typically. Rachel was replacing someone that left so her contract was only a half year this time.
@@quinersisters Interesting. Thanks for answering. I guess she should keep her pen sharp as I don't think she will have a problem getting another offer. Im off to watch the latest episode. Best of Luck to all of them! ☺
Professional ballet dancers do not usually go to college, although some take classes on their own online or part time. A few colleges offer ballet programs.
I have heard about some dancers who take college classes on their day off. Megan Fairchild for example has a PHD now, but she said it took her twenty years.
are you afraid that you will be put in a box because you have chosen to dance at the same company as two of your sisters? would choosing an other company have given you more freedom?
I was afraid people would think I just got the job offer because of them. When I was considering both companies, NJ Ballet was appealing because it was something new. And I absolutely loved being in their nutcracker. It was such a tough decision! And it is possible one of us will switch companies at some point and leave ARB.
I’m sure there are good ballet programs in Colorado Springs. Since we don’t live there, we don’t know those local studios. Good luck on your dance journey!🩰

Did you try auditioning for the ABT company or ABT studio company? I know you mentioned once that it was your dream company.
Thanks! All dancers at JKO are considered for ABT’s Studio Co. They don’t take many dancers from the school. They mainly use ballet competitions.
Congrats, Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to talk about your resume, all I know of is Clara radio city x4 but not any ballet competition awards (yagp etc) or what else would go on there!
Here’s a link to Rachel’s bio on our website: quinersisters.com/rachelquiner. 🩰🤍
Congratulations! 🎉
Curious about ABT and NY city ballet - do they rarely invite ABT-JKO school students to join?
SAB only uses their school for NYC Ballet company members. ABT is the opposite-they rarely use the school. Sadly.😔
I got cut for trying to drop a chandelier on one of my competitors, while laughing maniacally. Same opera house where my great-great grandfather did something similar.
"In sleep he sang to me..." 😂

Do ballerinas get higher education? And if yes, in which direction?
You will help me a lot with your answer!☺️🤗
Professional ballet dancers do not usually go to college, although some take classes on their own online or part time. A few colleges offer ballet programs.
I have heard about some dancers who take college classes on their day off. Megan Fairchild for example has a PHD now, but she said it took her twenty years.
mary ellen bowers (whose workouts the sisters sometimes do) was w the nycb and has an english lit degree from columbia university.
Thanks!☺️
The “un” remix at the end kinda slapped 😂
What are some strategies you use to stay safe In the city and for commuting alone?
All of us carry pepper spray and other safety products in our bags.
Is it normal for dancers already in a company to audition for other companies?
Yes. If you want to try for a different company, you normally go to an audition or take a company class. 🤍
are you afraid that you will be put in a box because you have chosen to dance at the same company as two of your sisters? would choosing an other company have given you more freedom?
I was afraid people would think I just got the job offer because of them. When I was considering both companies, NJ Ballet was appealing because it was something new.
