Hi Rachel. I've spent most of the day working on getting papers and sorting my cover. What fun.
And just so you know ....the light was absolutely fine for your video.

The fabrics and trims are so lovely, but that antique paper they covered books with is out of this world. I will be watching all your videos on this. So lovely.

The old handwriting is beautiful. It's always been something I love whether I could read it or not. It's an art in its own

Hi Rachel, I have come to the conclusion that you are absolutely right in using your antique papers (within reason, the digital of your book from the 1600s suffice). But when I was packing to move. Now they say we can get in on the 17th, we'll see. But I had all those books not as old as yours, but even if I saved them, to what end? They would just sit probably sit in the same packing box to be honest. But with yours, they have rebirth and appreciation. I found some 1930s books of poets and that husband and wife, the browning, and I was using them on the backs of tags where somebody might read them. So I support you and your reasoning behind using them, and your beautiful vintage and antique laces and fabrics. Be well, Patricia

Oh, but you have inspired me so much as I have many of these beautiful upholstery sample pages. Now I know what I can do with them! I haven’t joined the group as I can’t commit right now, but I am watching most of the ladies doing them. This is really coming out so lovely! Your papers are fabulous! Imagine covering books with them! Wow! Tfs☺️👏🏼👏🏼🐾🐈‍⬛🐾

Great fun to hear you so excited to stitch on your journal cover - I think that's what it's all about - enjoying the creative process as you said. As far as using the old documents in your projects, it's my feeling that in this day and age where so much is digital now, I think it's important we use and preserve in whatever format our documents and books - even if it's just in a "junk journal" - it's beautiful!

Your block is turning out very nice! I've done a little bit of embroidery but I've never heard of the seed stitch. If you decide to do it I hope you video it so I can learn.
Those of papers are amazing! Can you believe the beauty in the writing! And that was their every day writing, probably not trying to be fancy. Lol. Book covers and they angled the corners too! You find some amazing old papers and books, etc. TFS! Please keep being you!

Rachel I so enjoyed your Part 1 and Part 2 - even watching at 3.00 in the morning. As I don’t have any brocade, I’m going to Spotlight to see what they have that resembles antique type colours and design - there are some substitutes. I want to follow you step by step as I’ve done before. I do have some nice soft lace which probably landed from China last week.🙂. But thanks a million - that’s important!🌷💐

My mother would have loved this series!! She loved needlework and did lots of different styles..She did some crazy quilting, working on perforated paper, crewel, cross stitch....if she do it with a needle, she did it..She also collected old lace, so between the two hobbies I have some beautiful things! She taught me and I did some, but then I came to realize that I don't like handwork much! But I certainly admire and appreciate what you do! I know first hand it's not as easy as it looks to get pretty handwork!!

Fabulous fabrics. I had a giggle because I always use freezer paper for my fabric printing on my inkjet and fix with retayne. I decided to try the spray mount method after your video on Wednesday.. . . The exact opposite method swap 😂😂😂. Results will go into the stitchery fb page. Your little journal is going to be AMAZING. You are truly gifted💙🌷

You could still make it a writing journal just make a book board to go behind the page to right on It's Beautiful by the way 😉❤
And what a find and with the documents can't believe they've covered books with them they would be great in journals though
I can tell how excited you are about having them with your voice I'm exactly the same when I find something that I know I'm going to use or I'm happy with good find x 😉

Hi Rachel! This is getting exciting! I'm running through things in my mind... I know I have some scars of upholstery fabric around, that I used to make hobo style purses a few years back.
I love the messy stitching on the fabric. It's amazing how it adds to the pieces. I wasn't too sure about the blue running stitch on the green fabric but Wow! I had to laugh when you got so excited you were talking all squirrely... that's when Sam says to me, ok now breathe a minute! Lol

Haha my friend … (what a nasty piece of work) can’t help but think that your reaction to the documents being used as book covers is so similar to the way some feel about you using them as journal fodder. Lovely documents thanks for sharing.

You are right about the quality of fabric for inkjet printer. The upside is that the one I purchased from Amazon comes on a roll and can be cut t any size. I’ve never tried the freezer paper method but would be interested in seeing it.
I’ve been working on my blocks for the challenge, but started late so I have to do the first pages and sampler. I’ve never posted anything to Instagram, but I am quite pleased at the results and will do it when finished. The problem is, I keep thinking of things to add. Does anyone else have that problem?
