I just had to stop the video because you just said something that made me laugh out loud. While searching for your scrapbook paper you said "I would have searched for it before the video but I didn't realize I couldn't find it." All I can say, with feeling, is I would imagine most of us are right there with you. Every single day. With nearly every single thing. Especially in my craft room. I swear there's a black hole in there that things disappear into. 😁 Thank you so much for each and every video you do. I enjoy each one and learn so much! I'm glad the move is behind you now and you and your family can settle in a bit and relax. Now I'm going to finish up this video. I'm so intrigued by this method!
Preach sister! You always make me feel like I can create anything- very inspiring words. And also you make me laugh out loud all the time- man eyes lol! You made my day.💕
Love you "preachy" Rachel, been away for a while, house fire and no internet where I stayed for a time. Will have to catch up all of the missed videos.
Your Christmas dailies last year really helped me get through a difficult time. It was something I could look forward to and I want you to know it calmed me to hear your voice and to see your something beautiful being made.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who has unfinished projects. I want to make my daughters wedding album and I have started so many times and I just don’t like any of them so I’m still at a stand still I hope it will come to me one of these days 🤦♀️🙂. Thank you for the pep talk!!
Hello Rachel! Wow, awesome process and the results are amazing. Looking forward to what's next on this journal cover, thank for sharing it. Hope you are all settled in by now, moving sucks. 🤔 Hope all is well with you and the family, take care! 💜
Morning Rachel, what a lovely cover, love the slow stitching tabs are a brilliant idea. I think this is going to be a wonderful adventure. So pleased you are settling in your new/temporary home. I hope you will be happy there and that life will be filled with wonderful surprises. I can feel with you about doubting yourself, I ALWAYS wonder if what I do is good enough. I need reassurance, which my hubby and family always give me, so I do have a "moral" support. My art teacher also said that NO ONE is perfect, so we should not compare ourselves to anyone else, we are good and creative enough for US!!!! That is all that counts, as long as we do Iwhat ever we do), and we are having a wonderful creative moment, then it is going to be wonderful for someone else. Just remember, we LOVE what you do and you INSPIRE us daily. You are such a wonderful teacher and explain so well, I also love your sense of humour and I often am in tears with laughing sooooo much. Look after yourself and sending hugs and Blessings to you and your lovely family. Diana
I want to try the stitching challenge. I just hope I can keep up, it sounds like fun! Too funny Rachel, I do just the opposite, I pretend my fabric is paper😊. My son, Ryan actually detests the word “perfect “. He struggled with some obsessive like qualities as a child so we worked on recognizing that perfection is not attainable or desirable, so we strive for excellence/doing our best🥰.
You always say Lulu has a great memory. Let her look in each of your new drawers in turn and then tell you where everything is.(and maybe label them, not in a fancy way) I just moved a few months ago into a new place and although I put everything away I still can't always find stuff sometimes - cuz I've moved it around several times!
You’re such a joy to watch. Your sense of humour and down to earth personality is so enjoyable. Then you always have great tips, good ideas and are inspiring. Your projects always look great!
So glad that you are shifted over to your temporary place gorgeous lady!!!...all will be great for you...Steph and Lulu....thank you for finding the time to do one of your treasured videos....it keeps me sane....my hour with the very best one on You Tube (that is you) is amazing for me and my mental health...lol!!!......Huge huggles...Maxxii-Michelle from Western Australia xxxxx ps...I am doing a huge softly padded (for stability)material ephemera holder....21 inches by 16 inches..its big but so soft and pliable with tons of lace edges and pockets every where...too I have done heaps of stitching on different pages.... It is a bottler (aussie slang for fantastic)xxxxx
I love this way if making a spine. I used to do alot of cross stitch and embroidery. Hands decided not to cooperate. I have bifocals now and had surgery on my hands. May be time to have a go at slow stitching. I watch you and think "I can do that" but haven't. I sold my work before. It's been nearly 30 years. I fear I'd be comparing what I do with the sellable work I used to do. I'm an army brat. Growing up we moved constantly. I never knew where anything was. About the time we'd get settled in good it was time to pack and move again. With my first husband we moved 8 times in 19 years. Me and my husband have lived right here for 25 years. After about 2 years I felt like I should be moving🤣. Now I content and hope I never move again. Last week my son was helping me sort and organize the stacking baskets I bought and getting them put on the shelves. It looks nice and neat but I'm having issues locating things.
Great idea Rachel! Burn out of Christmas is always a problem. So enjoy your time with mixing up your wonderful videos. So grateful for all your videos. Moving is so hard. It’s hard enough without making your daily videos. Your incredibly awesome. “Wonder Woman” l also love your daughters name “Lulu” 💜
1 LOVED THIS VIDEO!! From the explication of the stitching journal- the covers end. I have to say you made me laugh. Won’t tell you where you always do at some point and ya know it’s fantastic. Why I e been here since your beginning. I’m still quite envious of the book covers but, I still love you. Got to get to the antique shops but it’s been too hot. Weather is better 75 dry. So perhaps next Saturday. Rachel this cover is exactly what I’m creating ( I’m certain many times. It’s truly my shabby not so chic style. Genius. Still have plenty of hemp. I told your sister I’m so glad now I hoarded my Rachel fabrics for the upcoming stitching journal. Well done. I’ll run and have a look at part 2. Santa & layering was perfect choice. Love his face. For those in USA pva glue hardware store inexpensive and the BEST !!! It’s wood glue. Just place in a sugar bottle ( baking) I’m using Margarete millers collage December book for December daily. 1. Practice 2 keep as coffee table book as a fun thing for my older kids to look through while board 🙄 but nice and small and I live collaging. Need old books. Off to eBay and treasure books. Hugs Rach. Great great cover!! Looking forward to seeing more. Hugs congrats you are IN
Simple is a good thing to follow, it is different for everyone. I use the KISS rule: Keep It Simple Silly. I really love watching you. Listening to your thought process is interesting. You are very inspiring.
I enjoyed watching you make your December Journal cover. So glad your moved into your new/temporary home. Now, it's a matter of finding what boxes certain things needed are in. Can' t wait to see the next video. Thanks for sharing.
I've always been so glad my Gramma taught me to sew when I was 8 yrs old. And now it enters into making an awesome journal. So I thank her again, and I thank you for the tutorial!
I loved learning how to do this and your camera set up looks perfect to me. This is going to be a fun project. Glad you are moved and can settle in for awhile in your new temporary home. I started writing in my Dec. daily yesterday, the first of Dec. It is the first time I have actually written in a journal that I have made and I am going to use some of your prompts from last year.
This is such a fun cover - I am very interested in trying it 😊 I do love preachy Rachel and the great reminders to enjoy the process versus going for perfection ❤
Camera angle is great, saw all that you did. Hope the move went as good as possible, not much fun moving but must be worse knowing that you’ve got to move back soon. Love how you made your journal cover, never seen them made like this before. Luv and hugs xx
I’m over Christmas and talked to Steve about no tree this year. It’s just he and I and with the moving being in increments it’s at the bottom of my list but will be celebrating with our daughters.
As always your project looks great. Your advice is spot on. We are all at different places in our creative journey and having fun is the most important thing. Thank you for sharing.
This is going to be such a charming journal. I just love the old book covers with the cloth stitching. Tbe best Santa for the cover of this old book. Glad you are almost moved and can get a bit comfortable in you temporary home.
Thank you for your words of encouragement! I do compare what I do to others and you’re right I tend to just stop and go to something else. That’s why I don’t post much of what I do. I figure no one will see it but me, so I keep trying new things. I do like the slow stitching that you do and I like watching your videos so I’m definitely going to give it a try. I think you are so talented and I love how you, your sister, and Mum all share the same love for slow stitching and embroidery! So again, thanks for the words of encouragement! 🌟🪡🧵
Everything looks great Rachel! I was so glad you stayed atop the pillow all video. I have the same issue here. I'm always putting a pillow under and then I'm slipping, or I sit on the edge of my seat and feel myself falling out.... I'm hopeless lol
Thank you Rachel for this video. I have never tried an open spine journal so I am excited to learn all about making one. I love the vintage Santa you have chosen for the cover.
I really enjoyed listening to your advice. I am looking forward to the slow stitching because I really want to learn. This is a cool spine. Thanks for sharing 😍🌴💕
I really liked what you were saying on skill levels and your 2022 stitching craft along. I haven't hand stitched in many years but I figured I would do what I can and add in my favorite fabric scraps I've collected that just sit in a tote not being enjoyed...now they can be a small heirloom... can't wait!!
Oh Wow! Rachel...Love what you are Sharing...Love How your showing differently Style, Can't wait for your next Step..Glad to hear your settled for now, it's Never fun to pack , move...Hope you can catch up on some rest you deserve a break...Looking forward to your Finished Journal, Love the Cover..🤗❤👍
Considering you have temporarily moved you are very calm and still have time to do wonderful videos. I hope you have settled in okay. Bravo I love your journals have copied your methods of two book covers thankyou.x
This is a great journal idea. Looking forward to the signatures. Thanks for the inspirational talk and also sharing with us during which must be a very hectic time for you. I’m going to try your slow stitch project in the new year. I’m not much of a slow stitcher but am excited to learn.
Hi Rachel, I love the cute Santa. He's perfect for the front cover. The tabs are pretty clever! I can't wait to see how you attach the signatures. This looks like a very interesting and somewhat different journal. I like it so far and you're just getting started!
Liking what you’re doing chook. Camera set-up looks good. I feel we’re a bit further away from your work though? Once you’ve settled into your new place you will enjoy all the differences? Really appreciate all your hard work to keep us in touch with you. Thankyou! 😊❤️🇦🇺🎄xxx
Love the way you make your covers...love the fabric tabs. You turn into a work of art. Take care. x New Years blessings x Mariana UK xx Many thanks for the talk about comparison...I needed that xx
Love those hinges!! I want to see how this works out..expecting great things. I’m glad you are finally in new place..now the monumental job of finding places to put things so you can find them again. 🤣
Loving this type of binding. Was thinking if you put your end papers on top of the material tabs it would make it more secure in the inside. Just a thought 😍
Great instructions on this binding. Love it! I picked a book cover, material for my pages and gathered some bits together to start your challenge in January. I am excited to be a part of it and you are completely correct, just try and do what I can and improvise if I can’t. Your new set up is great. Your were on screen the whole time. Hope you get settled into your temporary home so you can enjoy Christmas. ❤️
Loving your Christmas journal. Can’t wait to see how you sew in the signatures. I really want to do a Christmas journal but not sure I have the time since I’m working again. Will give it my best shot.
Rachel: as usual,- you are full of surprises. This Christmas journal will truly be a junk journal. I happen to really like it. That surprises me because I’m one of those perfectionist. That’s just the way it is. With that said, the elements you have selected for the cover and the slow stitching tabs are a delightful touch. Very pleasing. Carol from California
I've been thinking over night on you comment about liking doing a journal this way. Thrown together without a plan. That's my biggest problem. Thinking too much and over planning. Often I'm not happy when the journal doesn't follow the plan. Looks nothing like I thought it would. I like that you are not doing a daily prompt. I did one last year and found it stressful trying to keep up. It took a bit if joy from the project.
Rachel, not a negative just a question. Would the spine be stronger if it was done before the inside paper? I was just wondering. I'm liking this concept; first time for me to see it. I was thinking for the journal of stitching I might like to do this.
Thank you 😊 💓 for all the information I love the way you describe your work ethic And not making it hard for me. When You Explain slowly and show more detail that really helps me a lot thank you so much I've been waiting the last time I left a comet I told you that I felt it could not get it . Now that you explained it another way I can do this , I know I can . Thank you very much for your time. Janie Brewer 💕
Please Rachel tell me what HEMP is, sounds like a Silly question but I keep guessing and I don’t know. It’s like American drop cloth I think that is some sort of calico but I’m not sure. Thanks Rachel love your work looking forward to this new project will be trying to get all the bits and pieces together in one place instead of everywhere. I have been in this house 43 years so you can imagine how much stuff I have really don’t want to buy things that’s why I’m asking the question of what is hemp cloth. 🦋💕🌈💜.🇦🇺
Hemp is a plant. They used to make fiber from it here and then hand weave fabric. It sometimes feels a little like linen but can be a lot more course and textural. Thank you so much!
Very excited to see this spine and how you handle sewing in the signatures. I’ve never done one like this, but am inspired to give it a try! Thanks so much, Rach! ❤️
That was great advice Rachel. I only started slow stitching this year after a long break from sewing and totally doubted myself. But as you and others have said it doesn't haven't to be perfect and to just have a go. I'm really enjoying it now and I've learnt so much. I'm also a newbie at junk journalling so love to hear all your tips while you're making things. Thank you x
I got so tickled watching your sister’s explanation about the collab project when she said she would have all the materials that she will use in one tote so everything is all together and organized. Are you two even related? I am so much more like you.
My Mom use to say (To each their own said the maiden as she kissed the cow). I know it’s a crazy comparison but she’s right. It applies to life really. Please yourself in what you set your site to as a level of satisfaction to your achievements.
I just had to stop the video because you just said something that made me laugh out loud. While searching for your scrapbook paper you said "I would have searched for it before the video but I didn't realize I couldn't find it." Hahaha it is funny when you put it like that. I really thought it was in it's usual basket, lol! Thank you so much!
Preach sister! You always make me feel like I can create anything- very inspiring words. And also you make me laugh out loud all the time- man eyes lol! You made my day.💕

I absolutely loved the "sermon" from "preachy" Rachel. It's so true. Comparison is a destroyer.
Love, Love, Love this cover and binding.

Thank you so much!
Loving this type of binding. Was thinking if you put your end papers on top of the material tabs it would make it more secure in the inside. Just a thought 😍
Thank you so much!
Beau projet. Thank you Rachel :)
Thank you! 🤗
Thank you! 🤗
Loving your Christmas journal. Can’t wait to see how you sew in the signatures. I really want to do a Christmas journal but not sure I have the time since I’m working again. Will give it my best shot.
Thank you so much!
I like how the cover is going to turn out. This is a new one. (Hi Lulu ) .. cheers....
Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much!
Nice Rachel, I like the cover and the tabs so far.
Thank you so much!
Yes i was over it by the end last year. I want to mix irt up this year. Thank you! 🤗
Just love this
Thank you so much!
Fabulous!
Thank you so much!
Sophia De Cort is from Bruges, Belgium (fyi) Best wishes in your new temporary new home!!!
Thank you so much!
Rachel, not a negative just a question. Would the spine be stronger if it was done before the inside paper? I was just wondering. I'm liking this concept; first time for me to see it. I was thinking for the journal of stitching I might like to do this.
Yes that would definitely be better. Thank you! 🤗
Thank you 😊 💓 for all the information
I love the way you describe your work ethic
And not making it hard for me. When You Explain slowly and show more detail that really helps me a lot thank you so much I've been waiting the last time I left a comet I told you that I felt it could not get it . Now that you explained it another way I can do this , I know I can . Thank you very much for your time. Janie Brewer 💕
Wonderful! Thank you so much!
Gorgeous cover! Beautifully done! I am not doing a December daily this year either, too much pressure to do something everyday. 🎁🎄🎅🏻
Thank you so much!
I was waiting for this yayyyyyy xxx
Thank you! 😊
Thank you
I like the new setting and so far you are staying on screen.
See how long that lasts!!!
💜💜💜
Very excited to see this spine and how you handle sewing in the signatures. I’ve never done one like this, but am inspired to give it a try! Thanks so much, Rach! ❤️
I really like how it turned out. Will definitely be doing more. Thanks so much!
Thank.you
That was great advice Rachel. Thank you x
Thank you! 🤗
pardon me, can you clarify: is this the cover for the slow stitch journal challenge?
No this is for her Christmas December journal x
No it's for my December journal. You could easily do one like this for the stitch journal. i think it would look great. Thank you so much!
🥰❤️🥰
I know it's been awhile, but can you tell me where you got that Santa on your cover?? Thanks Rachel!
I think I just found it somewhere on the internet searching vintage Santa illustrations.
I got so tickled watching your sister’s explanation about the collab project when she said she would have all the materials that she will use in one tote so everything is all together and organized. Are you two even related? I am so much more like you.
Hahaha we are. I am going to gather my and put it in my trolley. Thanks so much 😊
My Mom use to say (To each their own said the maiden as she kissed the cow). I know it’s a crazy comparison but she’s right. It applies to life really. Please yourself in what you set your site to as a level of satisfaction to your achievements.
Great advice!
