- The GLE 53 has a few tricks up its sleeve and AMG wants to beat the competition. Under the hood of this Mercedes is a 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 that produces 429HP & is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. On the outside you will find bold styling from AMG with unique wheels, front fascia, grill and rear bumper. On the inside you will find a very high level of fit, finish and technology and one of the nicest steering wheels ever made! Is the 2021 Mercedes AMG GLE 53 the performance luxury SUV to BUY?

This car is just amazing, trust me, it is even more amazing in person and catches everyone’s eye. Drives fantastic and has the amazing combination of agressive sportiness while simultaneously being extremely luxurious and refined.

Fun Fact: If you see a solid front badge like that, then the car is equipped with the auto pilot features. They hide some of the required sensors behind/inside that emblem. If you look close you can see defrost lines to keep snow from building up on it. If you see a normal 3D plastic badge or the one that illuminates then the vehicle is not equipped with the auto pilot package.

Love the quality of the AMG interiors. That screen must be the width of 2 Jersey Mike’s subs. Much better than the older style. dual screens. Joe you can easily crush your peanut m&ms getting into that 3rd row! Hopefully there is room for a jar of jelly and you’re good to go. Great video as usual.!

You are right about the confidence behind the drive in the 53. I test drove the 350, 450, and the 53. I felt like I had been driving the 53 my whole life with just the one test drive. This car is a beast and the best part is you can get this monster for around $80-$85K if you limit some of the over the top options. Great review as always Joe
I got mine brand new for 86 grand with the autopilot option as well as most of the standard options like a sunroof and heated and cooled seats with only about 60 miles on it. I’ve had it for a month and I love it! Not a coupe but the color is blue
Wow how can you get it so cheap? I paid $108 for my 2022 and it didn’t have this exhaust but still sounded nice and paying $128 for my 2023 I have ordered. But if I can get it for less money elsewhere please let me know!

I am glad that Mercedes gives you roof rails as standard on all trims of the GLE. Porsche literally makes you pay a bunch for roof rails on all trim levels of the Cayenne. Even when the starting price of some Cayennes are like over $100,000!!

I’ve had really nice cars over many years but none as good as my 2021 Emerald Green AMG GLE 53 which I’ve had for 8 months now.
I usually change my cars every 4 years or so but my AMG GLE has everything I could ask for and so this could well be the first time I’ve stayed with the same vehicle for more than 4 years. I get a buzz every time I get behind the wheel, regardless of what mood I’m in.

I live in New England and bought this car in September with the 22 inch tires. It handles ok in the snow (not as good as my prior X5) but I am getting snow tires for next winter. Also, he mentioned that it was 4.7 seconds for zero to 60. Everywhere else I have seen 5.2 seconds which seems about right.

A great review! Raiti, is the ride quality of GLE53 noticeably stiffer than GLE450 when cruising?
Not at all Jeremy because you can adjust the stiffness.
This engine right here is the best thing MB is making IMO, like smart people they just took their already good 2.0T and put 2 more cylinders on it. The 3.0 V6 is the 4.0 V8 with 2 less cylinders. Just curious which engine they decide to keep and move forward with, hopefully the I6 for its smoothness. Also currently the I6 is E class exclusive, whether we are talking about the sedan, coupe, convertible or crossover (GLE). I personally would go for the non AMG version simply because I'm more of a grand touring driver but none the less, still a powerhouse and still probably the smoothest torque delivery in their whole lineup

Definitely a beautiful vehicle- but I can get a badass Durango SRT for weekend driving plus a Durango GT as a daily driver for that price. I prefer the look of the Durango as well. (I am biased)
